Few actors are as iconic as William Shatner. The legendary performer is, of course, best known as Captain James T. Kirk from the original Star Trek film and television series. But even fans who have followed his work for decades might know too much about Shatner’s personal life. For instance, he and Elizabeth Martin reunited years after finalizing their divorce.
William Shatner has done a lot more than ‘Star Trek’
Casual fans, again, probably know Shatner best for Star Trek. But the actor has worked on way more film and television projects than some people may realize.
On TV, he starred in the popular police drama T.J. Hooker in the 1980s and won two Emmy Awards for his scene-stealing role as Denny Crane on Boston Legal. Plus, he’s hosted countless TV shows, including Rescue 911.

William Shatner has been hit with $170 million (£120 million) lawsuit from the man claiming to be his long-lost son.
The Star Trek legend had previously denied fathering Peter Sloan, who also goes by Peter Shatner, with late Canadian actress Kathy McNeil after a one-night-stand in 1956. Peter was born without William's knowledge and given up for adoption.
William claims Peter is trying to prosper from the alleged family connection, but the 59-year-old wants the actor to submit to a DNA test to prove his paternity once and for all.
Peter filed the lawsuit in Tampa, Florida last week (ends27Mar16) demanding $170 million for libel, defamation and slander, according to New York Post gossip column Page Six. He also wants a jury trial.
In the paperwork, the Florida radio host claims he met William in 1984 on the set of TV show T.J. Hooker and the actor initially "admitted he was the plaintiff’s...

“Loss of life is to be mourned, but only if the life was wasted.”
Spock said that once. The man behind those pointy rubber ears, Leonard Nimoy, passed on Friday at the age of 83, after losing a battle with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. His life will be celebrated, because it was not wasted. Here are just 13 of many reasons why:
News: Zachary Quinto and more stars share their memories of Nimoy
CBS
1. Obviously Spock: This one everyone knows. But we would be remiss not to mention it again. He breathed life into one of the most iconic characters in TV and movie history (and earned three Emmy nominations for it). Fun fact you might not know: Nimoy is actually the one who created the Vulcan salute, based on a Jewish blessing he saw when he was a boy.
2. And How He Embraced Spock: Earlier on in his career, Nimoy seemed to have a love-hate relationship with Spock...

Star Trek actor William Shatner was once investigated by police as a murder suspect after his alcoholic wife drowned in a pool.
In his new autobiography, Up Till Now, Shatner explains how he tried desperately to save wife Nerine Kidd after finding her floating face down in their home pool - only to discover she was dead.
And the grief-stricken star, who shot to fame as Captain Kirk in the original 1960s TV show, was further devastated when a detective at the scene told him: "If there is any hint of foul play, you are the first suspect."
Shatner writes that he replied: "What are you talking about? This is the woman I loved more than my life. I wouldn't hurt her."
Kidd's death marked the end of a marriage the 77-year-old insists was made tumultuous by his wife's cocaine abuse.
He adds: "I was so frustrated, so angry. We were so close to a wonderful life together but we just couldn't get there...
"And then to see her drunk... to see our life together being shattered. I would sit in our house and cry. I remember sitting in a chair one morning, my hands over my eyes, sobbing."
A coroner eventually ruled that actress Kidd, 40, died accidentally after she had been drinking by the pool and slipped, hitting her head and falling unconscious into the pool.
