Writer-director Daniel Brown’s Your Lucky Day offers a twist-laden take on the hostage crisis film. Set almost entirely within a convenience store, the story revolves around a $156 million-winning lottery ticket and how it triggers a bloody series of events. A young drug dealer, Sterling (the late Angus Cloud), pounces on the opportunity and robs the unlucky winner right before a policeman emerges from the bathroom. Faced with too many loose ends to simply leave and collect the money, Sterling opts to cut in the witnesses that he initially takes as hostages, as long as they help him cover up his crimes.
For a thriller, Your Lucky Day’s atmosphere is oddly and refreshingly relaxed. For one, the characters don’t need much convincing when it comes to going with Sterling’s plan. Some, like the pregnant Ana Marlene (Jessica Garza), even prove quite adept at scheming as they puzzle...

Your Lucky Day, the horror thriller featuring one of the final performances of Euphoria breakout Angus Cloud, has secured a SAG-AFTRA Interim Agreement for publicity ahead of its Fantastic Fest premiere, Deadline has learned.
As with all projects under agreements of this sort — Michael Mann’s Ferrari and the Sean Penn-Dakota Johnson starrer Daddio being just two other prominent examples — we’ll have to wait and see who will, in fact, agree to participate in promotional activities amidst the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. A prominent genre festival based in Austin, TX, Fantastic Fest takes place this year from September 21-28.
Dying of an undisclosed cause on July 31st, at his family home in Oakland, CA, aged 25, Cloud’s co-stars in Your Lucky Day included Jessica Garza, Elliot Knight, Jason O’Mara, Spencer Garrett, Mousa Hussein Kraish, Jason Wiles and Sebastian Sozzi.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for NCIS Season 19 Episode 8 “Peacekeeper.”] Mark Harmon’s last on-screen appearance may have come in the fourth episode of NCIS Season 19, but four episodes later, and his absence is very much felt — especially by forensic scientist Kasie Hines (Diona Reasonover). For nine weeks, Kasie’s been going to Krav Maga classes, a fact that she doesn’t share until the case leads agents Jessica Knight (Katrina Law) and Alden Parker (Gary Cole) to the same gun salon she’s attending. Yes, she’s maybe in the market for a gun, she admits to Knight. It’s been on her mind, she admits, since the serial-turned-contract-killer Paul Lemere (Jason Wiles) held her hostage in “Nearly Departed,” which came after she and Brian Dietzen’s Dr. Jimmy Palmer were hostages in the diner in Season 17’s “Blarney,” (...

During last night’s MTV Movie Awards, viewers were granted a first look at the network’s upcoming reboot series, Scream, in the shape of three trailers. Based on the 1996 Wes Craven movie which rewrote the rules of horror and handed them back covered in blood and nods to a tired, all-knowing audience, MTV’s small screen take appears to be a somewhat less pioneering affair.
Craven is back to executive produce along with Scream producers Cathy Konrad and Marianne Magdalena. For this hip, happening remodel, the directorial duties go to Jamie Travis who, along with a bunch of new writers, carves a new story that’s anchored in the origins of the first Scream movie.
How they’re linked in terms of connective story tissue is left uncertain, but one thing is abundantly clear: the meta theme is still going strong. Off the bat a self-assured kid leads the...

Rev up your engines you juvenile delinquents as a little seen film by Robert Rodriquez barrels onto Blu-ray. Well, it did come out on VHS . remember that? The film is a homage to those 1950s rebel teen films and for a film shot in a total of 13 days actually comes out looking more like a hot rod than a clunker. Dude (David Arquette) has big dreams but he.s stuck in his small Texas town smoking cigs and driving around in his hot rod with his girl Donna (Salma Hayek) and his buddy Nixer (John Hawkes). One evening they meet up with Teddy (Jason Wiles) and a war of words is only fueled by a flicked cigarette...

While the future of home entertainment may be rapidly moving towards a digital streaming-led future, we can't be the only movie nerds who still love owning a physical copy of something. Sure, BluRay and DVD might be scratchable, easily lost and adorned by terrible box art, but there's something about the feeling of finding an undiscovered gem in the depths of a store, or getting a rarity in the post, that doesn't quite compare to clicking and watching something on Netflix.
As such, starting with this column, every month we're going to pick out five BluRays or DVDs new to the market that no self-respecting cinephile's shelves could do without. Some are shiny new versions of stone-cold classics, some are obscurities, some might even be brand new releases (although less often: those are covered pretty well elsewhere). Read on for more.

Jo (Sela ward) is thrown against a mirror and hovers between consciousness, as a man walks around the room, which we know can only be Curtis (Jason Wiles) and throws bullets around. 48 hours earlier Jo spots a man outside the courtroom, who is revealed as Frank (Michael Weston). Serena (Jenn Proske) is distraught over Curtis walking free. Jo is adamant they will get him. The Senator (Jeffrey Nordling) asks how she can say that. Jo isn't involved in the case and "the case still fell apart." That's a damning indictment against Lindsay (Anna Belknap) and her skills if ever there was one, ha. 3 years ago Washington DC, a flashback to Jo meeting the Senator and Serena. He doesn't want any press involvement that's why he called in the FBI. Serena was drinking and blames herself. Sela Ward Co-Worker Drama Cast for CSI: NY
CSI: NY has turned to Michael Weston to play a former co-worker of Jo (Sela Ward) for an episode airing November 18. Weston will be playing Frank, an FBI crime lab agent and Jo’s partner before she the left Washington and the Bureau. To spice up the drama just a smidge, Jo wasn’t on the best of terms with Frank before she departed.
TV Guide reports that Frank and Jo worked on a rape case just before she left. Frank made a mistake while processing evidence and Jo couldn’t keep quiet on the mistake. This resulted in the rapist, John Curtis (Jason Wiles), getting off scot-free. Now in the present, Curtis is at it again, this time in New York, and Frank pays Jo a visit. Let’s hope he’s not too bitter. On top of that, Sen. Matthews...

Oh, my goodness, there’s so much to talk about regarding last night’s “The Final Nail” that I don’t even know where to start.
I’ll be the first to admit that I wasn’t expecting this episode to be this brilliant. It’s a general rule in most shows, I believe, to have those so called “filler” episodes in which their sole function is to build a bridge to a really explosive episode. Since we had “Knockdown” just a couple of weeks ago and the highly anticipated two-parter is scheduled to air next week, I figured that “The Final Nail” would be a somewhat light or non-substantial episode, intended to fill the gap until “Setup”.
Boy, was I wrong! Because what we witnessed last night had nothing light about it. It was an intense – and tense – hour in which we dove head first into Castle’s past...

Who do you trust?
The latest installment of Castle, “The Final Nail,” offered up this classic question. The case dealt with the murder of Castle’s former classmate's wife, causing him to be a suspect and forcing Castle to fight for his pal's innocence.
Beckett said that she had met maybe three people in her life who she knows couldn’t be a murder suspect. This got me thinking. No one wants to believe that someone they know could be a murder, but how many people are you positive couldn’t be?
Jason Wiles guest-starred and immediately caused flashbacks for me to his character from Beverly Hills, 90210. That was years ago and he still looks exactly the same. Either this guy ages well or he has a great doctor!
Having someone from Castle’s past offered the promise of a great episode, yet somehow I felt a little bored with it.

Castle is faced with two disturbing possibilities on Monday's new episode:
A friend of his killed his wife. Beckett has arrested an innocent man.
These options, and Castle's reactions to them, are what drive "The Final Nail." See what we mean via the following sneak peeks, as Castle arrives at the crime scene prior to Beckett, argues with her and then ponders the fate of his pal, played by Jason Wiles.
