As far as superhero films are concerned, the aura of the character is not just in the powers they possess but also in their appearance. The costume, therefore, is a key component that adds to the appeal of these icons from the comic book world. From Marvel’s Spider-Man to DC’s Superman, costume designers in Hollywood have pushed the envelope to bring out the nuances of these characters.

Designer James Acheson has proved that he is the authority in this regard, having designed Tobey Maguire’s 2002 suit for Spider-Man and Henry Cavill’s Man of Steel costume. Fitting into her superhero look was a challenge for Jennifer Garner.
In a new video for Glamour, the actress took a trip down memory lane, looking back on her best looks on-screen, including the very cleavage-heavy wardrobe in the “Daredevil” movies.
“Everything was pushed up and out,” she said.

“I was just this close to a wardrobe malfunction at all times,” she said of the costumes. “There’s not enough tape in the world to make this stuff safe.”
She continued, “I had to be cut out of and sewn into the pleather pants every time I had to pee, and that was like a 45-minute undertaking so I definitely held it.

Depending on where your allegiances lie, either Zack Snyder's Dcu reign of terror is finally over, or we're witnessing the end of a golden era of DC heroes on film. Whatever your feelings about it, new DC Studios heads James Gunn and Peter Safran are almost certainly moving on from the Snyderverse. The pair are expected to announce their vision for the Dcu imminently, having scrapped plans for "Wonder Woman 3," bid farewell to Dwayne Johnson's Black Adam, and shown Henry Cavill and his Superman the door.
It's all been a long time coming. Many DC fans have been waiting years for their beloved heroes to be given a decent shot at competing with Marvel. And for quite some time, the Snyderverse has felt more like a curse, dragging DC's cinematic efforts into a perpetual state of mediocrity and keeping a full-scale reset of the company's movie universe firmly at bay.

Season Three will find Bumpy Johnson continuing to battle for control of Harlem, with other aspirants to the throne, namely the Cuban Mafia from neighboring Spanish Harlem. Taking on the Cuban mob will put Bumpy, his loved ones, and his community in the crosshairs of not only the rival Italians, but ruthless Latin assassins and, ultimately, the CIA. In each shot of the teaser, viewers get a glance of Johnson’s next business deals and business partners, and the harsh realities and the Black community faced during the civil rights movement in the 1960s.

In 1995, Michael Hoffman's Restoration adapted the best-selling novel of Rose Tremain into a sumptuous dramatization of 17th century England. Despite some dumbfounding feats of miscasting and a disjointed structure upended by the advent of the Black Plague, the picture's quite beautiful to look at and features some of the best Baroque designs in film history. The scenography leans into the theatricality of Charles II's court, creating an airless world gilded in gold. The costumes, in turn, indulge in the absurdities of 1660s fashion, conjuring a world of radical contrasts between royal splendor and the austere rigor of Puritan charity.
Both achievements won trophies at the 68th Academy Awards. As usual, I'm more interested in the work of Oscar-winning costume design by the great James Acheson. Let's explore the man's genius, his filmography, and the Baroque stylings of the 25-year-old Restoration…...

While never in doubt, the Season 2 renewal for Godfather of Harlem comes more than two months after Season 1 ended its run on the network.
While Epix does not release viewership data, Godfather of Harlem, boosted by strong word of mouth, has been a breakout hit, becoming the network’s top series. Epix President Michael Wright revealed some ratings data in announcing the drama’s renewal.
“Godfather of Harlem season one was a remarkable success, tripling previous viewership numbers for the network and earning acclaim from both critics and viewers alike,” said Wright. “We couldn’t wait to reunite with Chris, Paul, Forest and the team at ABC Signature to continue telling this compelling and extremely relevant story.”

Forest Whitaker is the sort of star seemingly built to make the leap to television: He’s a decorated leading man whose subtlety of approach and whose commitment to delicate, unusual acting choices would seem to potentially play even better on the small screen. After stints on various network shows, Whitaker finally gets his showcase in “Godfather of Harlem,” a new Epix hourlong series set in the political ferment of the early 1960s. And, through his recessive and quiet charisma, he provides the strongest case for the series.
Like others of Epix’s recent series, including “Pennyworth” and “Perpetual Grace, Ltd.”, “Godfather of Harlem” has a strong popcorn element: It’s aiming more for extreme watchability than for prestige. Which makes it a compelling fit for Whitaker, who, as the career criminal Bumpy Johnson, recently freed from prison, returns to Harlem to rule his domain with quiet, seething power. The...

“Harlem is a tinder box” and “it’s about to explode” in the first trailer for upcoming Epix series, “Godfather of Harlem,” which stars Forest Whitaker as Bumpy Johnson.
The 10-episode, hour-long drama series is inspired by the story of Johnson, a crime boss who in the early 1960s returned from 10 years in prison to find the neighborhood he once ruled in shambles. With the streets controlled by the Italian mob, Johnson must take on the Genovese crime family to regain control. During the brutal battle, he forms an alliance with radical preacher Malcolm X (Nigél Thatch), catching Malcolm’s political rise in the crosshairs of social upheaval and a mob war that threatens to tear the city apart.
Epix describes “Godfather of Harlem” as “a collision of the criminal underworld and the civil rights movement during one of the most tumultuous times in American history.”

Neon Maniacs is by far one of the most obvious 1980s B horror films I have seen in quite some time. It doesn’t try to disguise the era at all with the blaring 80s songs, the teen sex, right down to the slightly cheesy monsters attacking people. I honestly don’t see how this movie has fallen by the wayside as I rarely hear any horror fan talk about it in the least in B movie circles. It is far from perfect but it is at least a fun movie.
