- It is the imagination, not the equipment that creates memorable cinema.
- I essentially deal with emotion, character and drama - things that you can't really quantify. And the process of executing those things is intuitive and organic.
- No matter what technique, in or out of camera the cinematographer develops, his fundamental purpose is to support & enhance the dramatic and the narrative flow of the film. Cinematography is one of the many things that are merely the handmaiden of drama and that is the most ultimate truth.
- No one will ever go see a film because Cinematography is magnificent. My greatest goal in making feature film is the exploration and revelation of the landscape of a human face.
- My lighting is not realistic. "Realism doesn't interest me! I strive for an unrealistic approach. It's very important to me, and it's why I don't do certain films.
- I am a great fan of comic books, Whether it be Calvin & Hobs or a Lion King ,They all look too real to me. The moment I see something ,I start making a story around it and that's how twisted the reality seems to me. For me, Comic books have been one of the biggest sources to learn framing. They are so innovative.
- We cinematographers are writing stories with light and darkness, motion and colors. It is a language with its own vocabulary and unlimited possibilities for expressing our inner thoughts and feelings.
- All great films are a resolution of a conflict between darkness and light,
- Teething problems: everyone goes through them, and they are necessary for one's success. And there is no point talking about it as they are the real building blocks.
- Every time that you noticed my camera or light.....I have failed as a story teller.
- Who the hell is me or anyone to judge it...every single human being so beautiful and unique in their own way for the simple fact that there is no one else who is exactly like him or her.
- Chasing the airplane shadows in the vast fields of my village and cried for never being able to catch it , that's probably where the game of light and shadow began in my life in my beautiful little village, where everyday earth met the sky. By the time I was nine I knew I had to be in films so here I am chasing my dreams now and they run rather faster then those airplane shadows of yesteryears..!
