Daisuke Ban is a graduate of Saitama-Ken Senior High School. After
making his debut in OUMUTO NI WATORI (1971), he got his first starring
role as the android Jiroo in the popular TV series "Jinzo ningen
kikaidaa" (1972). Since then, he starred in other superhero shows
including INAZUMAN (1973), NINJA CAPTOR (1976) and BATTLE FEVER J
(1979), as well as action shows like SPECIAL INVESTIGATION FRONTLINE.
To this day, Daisuke also attends sci-fi and comic-book conventions in
Japan to greet fans of the shows he starred in.
Hobbies include reading, film appreciation, music, and singing.
Due to problems after KIKAIDER, Daisuke Ban had his stage name changed
to "Naoya Ban" up until the mid-90s.
A month after Shoutarou Ishinomori (the creator of KIKAIDER, INAZUMAN,
etc) passed away in 1998, there was a rumor (mostly on the Internet)
that Daisuke Ban died of a heart attack while having sex with a
prostitute. The rumor, of course, was untrue.
