Sega and Paramount have made a Sonic The Hedgehog spin-off television series called Knuckles, here’s the trailer.
Sonic The Hedgehog is among the top selling video game franchises of all time. Launching on the Sega Mega Drive in 1991, the blue Hedgehog with super speed has graced countless video games, and after a failed attempt to make an animated film in the 1990s, he finally made a very successful leap to the big screen in 2020. Voiced by Ben Schwartz, it saw him go up against his arch nemesis Dr. Robotnik, played with maniacal relish by Jim Carrey. After being teased at the end of the first film, the 2022 sequel introduced Tails and Knuckles, voiced by Colleen O’Shaughnessey and Idris Elba.
News landed recently that the third film will see Carrey reprise his role, despite his previous assertion that he was retiring, with Krysten Ritter, Alyla Browne, James Wolk, Sofia Pernas,...

You've seen these super-powered critters save the world a time or two, but what America and the world at large really want to know is ... what do they do on their day off? Apparently, for alien heroes with a taste for battle, that involves makeshift gladiatorial arenas and a never-ending quest for vengeance. That's courtesy of the popular breakout character from "Sonic the Hedgehog 2," which featured Idris Elba's dulcet tones as the voice of Knuckles. Now, ahead of this year's release of the third "Sonic" film, everybody's favorite red echidna is getting his own spin-off series titled, fittingly enough, "Knuckles."
The much more serious-minded character was a natural choice to expand the "Sonic" universe in live-action, but Paramount threw everyone a curveball when it was announced that the "Knuckles" spinoff would take the form of a streaming series on Paramount+. But if it wasn't already clear before, it...

You gotta go fast when you’re building a franchise, and Paramount Pictures has been moving like a speedy blue blur in racing out its live-action spinoff series of the “Sonic the Hedgehog” film, “Knuckles.”
“Knuckles” will bridge the gap between “Sonic the Hedgehog 2” and the upcoming third film, and this series gives a look into the adventures of the red, punch-happy Echidna warrior Knuckles, with Idris Elba reprising his voice role from the second film.
Ahead of a Super Bowl spot that will air during the CBS and Nickelodeon broadcasts (Knuckles and friends will even make an appearance during the kids’ version) of the big game, Paramount+ has dropped the first trailer for “Knuckles” and announced all episodes of the series will be available to stream in the U.S. and Canada beginning April 26. It will hit additional territories the following day and Japan later this year.

Soon it will be Paramount+ & Knuckles, as the streamer released the first trailer for its spinoff series of the “Sonic the Hedgehog” films on Thursday morning. “Knuckles” sees Idris Elba return to voice the eponymous grumpy echidna, introduced as Sonic’s foe-turned-friend in the second “Hedgehog” entry.
Billed as “the latest in the cinematic world of ‘Sonic the Hedgehog,'” the first look also comes with the news that the entire series — totaling six episodes — will debut simultaneously on Paramount+ in North America on April 26. Additional territories will follow on April 27, with a Japan release slated for later on this year.
Paramount Pictures and Sega of America plan to give fans an additional look at “Knuckles” during Super Bowl Lviii on Sunday, when a TV spot will debut during the game. Plot: Reacher is pulled from his vagabond life by a coded message informing him that a member of the 110th – his elite group of Army Special Investigators – has been murdered. He and some of his former military cohorts reunite to investigate and soon realize the case is bigger than they ever could have imagined.
Review: After two feature films starring Tom Cruise, the Prime Video version of Reacher brought Alan Richtson into the title role to personify the physical stature of Lee Child’s vision for the character. The first season of Reacher was not quite a mystery and not quite an action series but was closer to the novels than Cruise’s take on the tale. Fans took to the new Reacher, and a second season was ordered early, with a third on the way before the sophomore run even debuted. Even with the ongoing WGA strike grinding Hollywood to a halt, seemingly nothing can stop Paramount from moving forward with plans for Sonic the Hedgehog 3. According to the film industry-related website Production List, cameras will roll on the threequel in London on August 31, 2023.
While details about Sonic the Hedgehog 3 remain a mystery, the sequel will likely introduce more fan-favorite characters from the more-popular-than-you-would-ever-think franchise, including Shadow the Hedgehog, who Paramount teased during an after-credits scene for Sonic the Hedgehog 2. While Shadow is a known quality, Sonic fans hope the film series is planning to introduce more characters, including Amy Rose, Big the Cat, Rogue the Bat, Cream the Rabbit, Vector the Crocodile, and more. So far, there has yet to be a word if Jim Carrey will return to reprise his role as Dr. Robotnik.

There’s also a spin-off TV series centered around Knuckles with Idris Elba once again voicing the character. The cast of the Knuckles TV series has now added five new members.
Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future), Cary Elwes (The Princess Bride), Stockard Channing (Grease), Paul Scheer (Veep), and Rob Huebel (Children’s Hospital) have joined the cast of the Knuckles TV series. X-Files Recap is a weekly column by Keith Uhlich covering Chris Carter's 10-episode continuation of the X-Files television series. The past never leaves us. It flickers in our subconscious—hazy, nagging memories—until something (a sight, a smell, some other trigger) stokes it. All of an instant, where we are becomes where we were, a cognitive dissonance that FBI Special Agents Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) surely perceive at the beginning of “Kitten” (the sixth episode of The X-Files’ eleventh season, written by Gabe Rotter and directed by Carol Banker) when they walk into the office of Deputy Director Alvin Kersh (James Pickens, Jr.). “I’m gonna ask you once and only once,” he says in his stock surly tone. “Where is he?” We’ll get to who “he” is in a moment. First it behooves us to consider if the Kersh Mulder and Scully...

Step aside Mulder and Scully, it's Skinner's time to shine. The X-Files turns the spotlight on Mitch Pileggi's Walter Skinner in "Kitten," the sixth episode of the 10-episode second revival season. "You're going to find out who Skinner is, why he is the way he is, some of the stuff that he's gone through to make him the person that he is…it was really interesting. I think it was a lot of fun, and Gabe Rotter wrote it and Carol Banker directed it, who was our script supervisor back in the day in Los Angeles and now she's doing very well as a director and I was so pleased to be able to work with her as a director and that she was directing that episode…And Gabe did a wonderful,...

One of sci-fi television’s most iconic female characters will be written by women in 2017. During Fox’s Television Critics Association press tour, Fox CEO Dana Walden revealed that the show’s behind-the-scenes gender diversity had improved beyond original reports.

While news had broken last night that creator Chris Carter had hired two female directors — Carol Banker and Holly Dale — Walden also revealed that two female writers had been hired for the new season.
Update: A Fox representative confirms that Karen Nielson, who worked as a script coordinator on Season 10, will write one episode. In addition, Kristen Cloke and Shannon Hamblin will be writing another episode based on a story by Glen Morgan.

The gender inequality is still out there, but this is a step in the right direction.
The X-Files‘ upcoming 11th season will feature two episodes directed by women, TVLine has learned exclusively. One of the helmers, Carol Banker, has a long history with the franchise, having served as script supervisor on the mothership from 1999-2002 and a director on the short-lived spinoff The Lone Gunmen. X-Files newbie Holly Dale, meanwhile, has directed more than 100 hours of episodic TV, including such series as Being Erica, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Grimm, Timeless and Reign.

Superman Lives, The Green Hornet and sadly now Clerks III: here’s a rundown of the Kevin Smith films we’ll probably never see...
Kevin Smith has always had to fight to get his films off the ground: he started his filmmaking career by maxing out multiple credit cards to self-finance Clerks, and more recently, legend has it, it was only Johnny Depp’s decision to come on board as a wacky supporting character that allowed Smith to secure financing for his walrus-centric horror flick Tusk.
Smith has, across his career, been offered several barmy jobs (he rejected a chance to pen Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian back in the 90s) and he’s also signed up for a lot of projects that never got past the script phase.
The latter camp of could’ve-beens is what we’re talking about today, following that news that Clerks III...

Those looking forward to the return of Jay and Silent Bob in Kevin Smith’s anticipated Clerks III will have to wait a little while longer, because Smith has announced that, come April, he’ll be starting production on his second horror film, Comes the Krampus.
Taking to Reddit, the filmmaker revealed that, with Tusk nearing completion, the original plan was for him to gear up to shoot Clerks III. But now he’s had a change of heart. Clerks III will still happen, but it’s Comes the Krampus that has him hooked right now, so much so that he has to make it next. And fortunately for us, he’s making it very soon.
Smith co-wrote the holiday horror anthology with Andy McElfresh. McElfresh will direct the episode, The Krampus vs. The 3rd Grade; long-time collaborator Jason Mewes will helm period episode, Hitler’s Krampus; Smith will direct the Gothic horror piece,...

Kevin Smith better have something to show us soon, the guy keeps on piling up projects, I really don’t know where he finds the time to talk so much. On the burner he has Tusk, Clerks III, his apocalyptic “Christzilla” flick, Helena Handbag, and now it’s a horror anthology centering around Santa Clause’s European foil, the Krampus. [via bloodydisgusting]
Krampus for those who don’t know is a demonic creature who punishes bad children on Christmas while Santa rewards the good. It’s getting pretty popular in North America, last year even Chicago hosted “Krampusfests”, which included the European tradition of adults dressed as the “Christmas Devil” roaming the streets while rattling chains to frighten naughty children. Well that sounds absolutely scary for a child to see and hear.
“If you listen to the Edumacation podcast, you’ll remember that episode 20 (Part 2 of the Christmas eps) consisted of another...

I'm a huge fan of horror anthologies, especially when they are good, but even when they are so bad they're good. Kevin Smith has revealed on his blog that he's created a holiday horror anthology film project called Comes the Krampus. He co-wrote the script with Andy McElfresh, and Smith will direct a segment, as will Jason Mewes, Jennifer Schwalbach, and others. The film will shoot over the summer, after Smith finishes Clerks 3. Here's the full announcement from Smith, with all of the details he was willing to reveal,
If you listen to the Edumacation podcast, you’ll remember that episode 20 (Part 2 of the Christmas eps) consisted of another dopey conversation that resulted in a screenplay – a’la SModcast and Tusk. I was goofing around with Mr. Edumacation himself, Professor Andy McElfresh, when we accidentally brainstormed a Christmas horror anthology that would eschew the gruesome spin on Santa Claus, and...

Hey everyone – remember that time Kevin Smith said he was retiring after Clerks III? Yeah, looks like that plan is falling apart rather quickly for our passionate filmmaker. First, he announced his pseudo horror thriller Tusk, a film that shows Michael Parks turning Justin Long into a walrus, then came news of Helena Handbasket, another genre piece that might turn into a musical. Now, Smith has surprised fans with another outrageous surprise – he’ll be co-directing Comes The Krampus!, a Christmas themed horror anthology birthed from yet another podcast conversation.
Inspired by one of the more notable classic horror anthologies, Creepshow, Comes The Krampus! will follow a few tales of terror that ignore Santa’s usual Christmas spirit in favor of The Krampus’ kid devouring ways. This is a team SModcast production through and through, with getting everyone involved – wait, why am I telling you this? Let’s take a...

Although Kris Kringle gets all the love, here at Dread Central we're big fans of the Krampus. The character just doesn't get enough love, I tell ya! In any event, Kevin Smith thinks so, too, and he's gearing up to tell the mythical beast's tale like never before.
Explains Smith via his blog: If you listen to the Edumacation podcast, you’ll remember that episode 20 (Part 2 of the Christmas eps) consisted of another dopey conversation that resulted in a screenplay – a’la SModcast and Tusk. I was goofing around with Mr. Edumacation himself, Professor Andy McElfresh, when we accidentally brainstormed a Christmas horror anthology that would eschew the gruesome spin on Santa Claus, and instead embrace the Scandinavian/German Kid-Eating Christmas creature known as The Krampus. That podcast was released 12/23/13.
It took us less than a month, but Andy and I have finished the screenplay for a flick we’re calling Comes The Krampus!

The It Crowd series 4 ends, Sherlock returns, Doctor Who repeats and The Deep, too. Plus movies. Lots and lots of movies...
If you missed Matt Smith's introduction in Doctor Who, or any of the 13 episode run, the fifth series of New Who is being shown again starting tonight, at 7:00pm on BBC3 with The Eleventh Hour, followed by the Confidential shows you may have skipped the first time around. Strangely, this trip seems to manage identical broadcast times at least two weeks in a row, so you should be able to catch it from the first frames every Friday.
The It Crowd finale of its fourth season airs tonight at 10:00pm on Channel 4 with Reynholm v Reynholm. This latest series was a sweet and sour assortment for our reviewers and this final show may be the deciding factor for its future. It involves another court case,...
