Haven managed something fairly rare in the world of television simply by being a show that was, more or less, serious about about completely goofball events without turning ridiculous.
It probably helped that it got to say Stephen King’s name a lot, but no outside pull gets you very far when you have to put “The Troubles” on screen, and sell a world in which a small town in Maine goes loopy. That’s especially true when you have episodic “troubles” to fix, and have to maintain the long arc’s direction.
The show held its own by way of the onscreen chemistry of the three main stars, and the charm of the supporting actors.
Now the final season is headed your way, and it’s not only something that is worth the price of admission just on the twists and revelations of the season itself, it’s also loaded with special features.

“Haven” returns for a final 13 episodes on Syfy Thursday, and showrunners are promising plenty of answers to all the big questions raised over the show’s five seasons. The Stephen King adaptation is set in a sleepy, coastal town in Maine, where certain members of the community are burdened with supernatural abilities they cannot control. Enter the mysterious Audrey Parker (Emily Rose), an FBI investigator with an uncanny knack to talk people down when their abilities — called Troubles — start wreaking havoc. Soon, Audrey discovers she’s connected to the town in ways she still doesn’t fully realize. By the end.

Syfy's “Haven” pulled off a twist no one saw coming when it separated its leading lady into two distinct — but identical — characters. Series star Emily Rose, who now plays both Audrey Parker and her evil counterpart Mara, told TheWrap that she's glad she gets to keep both personalities for the foreseeable future. See photos: ‘American Horror Story’ to ‘True Detective': 8 Anthology Series That Are Changing TV “I was a little scared to let Mara go,” Rose said. “Fortunately, I didn't have to do that.” Mara and Audrey are now running around Haven, Maine, at the same time, though Audrey has.

Season 4 of Syfy's “Haven” left off with the show's protagonist apparently turned into a major new antagonist with the upcoming fifth season, not surprisingly, focusing primarily on how to get her back. “The heart and soul of ‘Haven’ is Audrey Parker,” the show's executive producer Gabrielle Stanton told TheWrap. But Audrey (Emily Rose) is a bit lost as Season 5 opens with her as a new incarnation who calls herself Mara. At the end of Season 4, Colin Ferguson's character William was banished to another dimension through a portal in the town's lighthouse — though not before bringing Mara out from...

For some, the fourth season of Haven might have started going a little goofy. For others, at least it moved somewhat away from the episodic focus, and paid attention to bigger issues. For still others, the show is really getting good. Wherever you fall, you don’t want to miss the premiere of the fifth season, and yes, even if you are among those who thought the show was not doing its best last year.
Things are going to be interesting right from the start, because it looks as though perhaps Audrey isn’t returning, and this may turn into the Mara show. Well, it doesn’t seem especially likely that this is a permanent direction the show will go, but who knows?
Take a look at the video below, and make sure you catch this one this Thursday!
By the way, don’t forget that Laura Mennell is headed to Haven this season.

"Belle"
What's It About? This 18th century English romance is about Dido Belle (Gugu Mbatha-Raw), a biracial woman raised by her aristocratic great uncle and aunt, Lord and Lady Mansfield. She grows up alongside her cousin Elizabeth (Sarah Gadon) as equals and best friends, but as they come of age, their differences become all too apparent -- to each other and to their would-be suitors. Meanwhile, Lord Mansfield (Tom Wilkinson) is facing a trial as Lord Chief Justice of England that could change the future of slavery. Will Dido find love on her own terms?
Why We're In: It's an elegant period piece perfect for Jane Austen fans, and it's a subtle but effective examination of the intersection of class and race in 18th century England. Mbatha-Raw is fantastic, and director Amma Asante has an excellent eye for detail.

You’ve got to love a show that gets stronger over time… or at least gets higher ratings, and since that’s exactly the case with Syfy‘s Haven, fans can relax for quite a while. The network has ordered 26 new episodes, and they will air as a split fifth season. 13 will air in the fall, and the remaining 13 will air sometime in 2015.

"Haven" has been renewed by Syfy. But there's more -- the cable network has renewed the Stephen King-inspired show for a split season of 26 episodes airing in 2014 and 2015, which is double the normal amount of episodes "Haven" normally has per season.
Season 5 of "Haven" is planned to premiere in the fall of 2014, when 13 episodes will air. The final 13 episodes of the season will follow in 2015. There is no word as to whether these will be the last episodes of the series or not.
Starring Emily Rose, Lucas Bryant and Eric Balfour, "Haven" follows the story of a small town in Maine where residents have strange and destructive powers. The recent Season 4 ended in December 2013 with a major cliffhanger that left the future of Rose's character, Audrey Parker, in doubt. Fans will definitely be relieved to know that the storyline will be resolved.

Viewership for Haven came down last season but Syfy still renewed the series. Will the ratings continue to fall this season or will the rise? Will the show be cancelled or brought back for season five? Time will tell.
On Haven, FBI Agent Audrey Parker (Emily Rose) and Officer Nathan Wuornos (Lucas Bryant) investigate strange occurrences in the small town of Haven, Maine. Others in the cast include Eric Balfour, Nicholas Campbell, Richard Donat, John Dunsworth, Colin Feruson, Emma Lahana, Adam Copeland, and Christian Camargo.

"Haven" may have seen the last of a woman named Audrey Parker in "The Lighthouse." After four seasons and as many identities, the woman who reappears in Haven to help with the Troubles is gone.
In her place, we have Mara. This is not the most helpful replacement, as far as Nathan, Duke and the rest of Haven are concerned. But oh, Season 5 is certain to be fun!
Meet Maura
With the Season 4 finale, "Haven" answers one of its biggest, longest-running questions: Who is Audrey Parker? The answer seems to be an evil witch (literally) named Mara. Via a limited number of flashbacks, we learn a few things about this unpleasant young woman.
1. Mara and William really were in love -- the bad man wasn't lying about that.
2. They liked to swim (presumably naked) together.
3. Whatever era -- and/or world -- the two date from, medieval-style costumes, cloaks and swords were the standard.

Just as soon as William popped through the portal door, he was stirring up all kinds of trouble and giving people new Troubles – ones that neither they, nor their ancestors had before. William proved time and time again that he could create a new Trouble and infect anyone he wanted. He also showed that he could also change a person’s Trouble, causing it to manifest at an earlier age or have a wider range than before. William is literally a Trouble-maker. It's time to share an unpopular opinion: I love the character of William on "Haven," and I think his presence is one of the best things to happen to this show in years.
You may commence with the stoning. Alternatively, keep reading to find out why I think "Haven" would benefit from as much Colin Ferguson as it can get.
Let's meet William
Until the beginning of "Haven" Season 4, viewers didn't have even an inkling of a man named William. No matter what strangeness occurred in the real world or in the mysterious barn, William wasn't a part of it. We didn't need him.
But now William has emerged. That seemingly friendly and helpful Barn fellow who likes microbrews and who can chase off bad guys (but who isn't a cop) has -- in a few short episodes -- become absolutely indispensible to the mythology of "Haven."
He alone knows the details of Audrey's past.
