I’ve been a fan, nay Huge fan, of writer/director Charlie Steeds since I first saw his 2017 British-made pastiche of Tobe Hooper’s The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Escape From Cannibal Farm. Since then I’ve eagerly awaited each and every one of his films – though to be fair to Steeds, the releases of his film can be very haphazard. Winterskin debuted on DVD before The Barge People, which actually lensed first. Unfortunately, the UK release of the aforementioned Escape From Cannibal Farm remains in limbo thanks to 88 Films buying the rights and then deciding to focus on re-releasing cult films rather than new movies and sitting on it for 2 years (so far).
I finally got to see An English Haunting, Steeds’ take...

I absolutely adored writer/director Charlie Steeds Cannibal Farm, a film that has seemingly been held to ransom by its UK distributors, with a release – under the title Escape From Cannibal Farm – promised for what seems like an eternity. In the meantime Steeds has filmed three more films, of which Winterskin is the last to be made and the latest to be released.
Essentially a two-character production, Winterskin takes a leaf out of Stephen King’s Misery in presenting a protagonist seemingly trapped by a cray woman, in this case in a remote cabin in the middle of snowy nowhere. Our protagonist, Billy Cavanagh, is “accidentally” gunned down in said snowy wilderness and desperate for shelter he’s taken in by kooky old lady Agnes,...

The Harver family head out on an idyllic summer camping trip where they can bury past tensions and enjoy some family bonding. But when their camp is sabotaged by an unseen intruder in the night, they head to the nearby creepy old farm desperate for help, where vengeful farmer Hunt Hansen and his hideously deformed son aren’t farming animals…
Let’s get this out of the way first. Yes, Cannibal Farm is essentially, at its core, a British pastiche of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre; however the film has more than enough interesting story beats and great performances to make this film stand on its own two feet.

Tagline: "All You Can Do is Run!" Charlie Steeds' Cannibal Farm will show through Video-on-demand, in 2018. The film, which is heavily influenced by The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974), was shot in the United Kingdom. Sometimes titled Escape from Cannibal Farm, this indie horror title involves a family camping trip and a strange farm. The family is attacked, leaving them stranded in the countryside. Cannibal Farm stars: Kate Davies-Speak (Deadman Apocalypse), Barrington De La Roche, David Lenik, Rowena Bentley, Toby Wynn-Davies, and Peter Cosgrove. A preview of the film's initial launch are hosted here. The film's official VOD movie poster has also been released. Very Leatherface-esque, the graphic shows a masked man and a large chainsaw. The chainsaw is obviously excited, while the tagline states: "all you can do is run!" The film promises to chain some of the characters up. High Octane Pictures is releasing the film, in the United States.
