She has appeared in more than 50 films and television shows since 1983. She starred in the film Ganhar a Vida (2001), which was screened in the Un Certain Regard section at the 2001 Cannes Film Festival. She was also in the Oscar Winning film Amour (2012).
Rita Blanco already won 4 Portuguese Golden Globes for Best Actress with Ganhar a Vida (2001), Blood of My Blood (2011), The Gilded Cage (2013) and Fátima (2017).
