A trio of iconic television stars was unmasked during the appropriately titled “TV Theme Night” episode of “The Masked Singer” on Wednesday. Barry Williams, Christopher Knight and Mike Lookinland who played Greg, Peter and Bobby on “The Brady Bunch” were parading around as Mummies while singing “The Monkees” theme. Panelist Nicole Scherzinger was the first to unravel the clues that gave them away and Robin Thicke piggybacked on the idea.
“It was thrilling to be together performing,” Williams told Nick Cannon during their unmasked interview. “We haven’t performed together like this since the ‘Brady’ days, originally. Being here was such fun. The audience has been terrific and the judges are very sharp. You’re very sharp!”

They can be goofy. They can be cool. They can be stern. They can be wise. In the 60 years since programs like “Father Knows Best” and “Leave It to Beaver” dominated the airwaves, television dads have changed some, but continue to bring us some of television’s funniest and most poignant moments.
See‘The Brady Bunch’: 25 greatest episodes ranked worst to best
Over the years, dads like Ward Cleaver (“Leave it to Beaver”), Mike Brady (“The Brady Bunch”) and Howard Cunningham (“Happy Days”) have dispensed sound advice and doled out stern but gentle discipline when needed. New dads such as Ricky Ricardo (“I Love Lucy”) and Jack Pearson (“This Is Us”) have shown the joy and wonderment of being a new parent, and the various dilemmas all parents face when raising young children. There have been some really great TV dads to grace our screens over the years. There’s Mike Brady, Phillip Banks, and Ray Barone to name a few. These men were caring, loving, nurturing, and only wanted what was best for their families. But as the saying goes, every yin has its yang. On the opposite end of the spectrum television has presented many fathers that are the exact opposite of the men listed above. Adultery, murder, abuse, you name it, and these guys have done it. Today I’m going to reveal 5 of the worst fictional fathers on TV right

While everyone has been raving about “The Button,” a better event has been taking place in the form of “The Lazarus Contract.” It might not be lenticular, but it’s certainly been spectacular. Jam packed with action, fun, mystery, and a selection of exciting characters, it’s everything that we’ve come to expect from Rebirth so far. In Deathstroke #19, part three of this riveting storyline takes us to the darker side of things.
Considering this title is Deathstroke, it’s only fair that this issue primarily focuses on the man without mercy Slade Wilson. While we do get to see enough of the two Titans teams in the book, we’re treated to more of Slade’s history – including the nature of the mysterious deal that he made with Dick Grayson years ago. Additionally, we discover what sort of a father he was to...

Give it up for Juan Piquer Simon. Not only did the Spanish director bestow upon the horror world one of the craziest and memorable slashers of all time, Pieces (1983), he also found it within himself to give us Slugs (1988). Not quite as crazy as Pieces (but almost as good), Slugs trades heavily in the J.P. Simon business: a whole lot of weird, a nuclear ton of energy, and gore galore. If you only see one badly dubbed mollusk monster movie, filled with heavy pettin’ and (literally) explosive action, you would be wise to choose Slugs.
Released Stateside by New World Pictures (post Roger Corman years) in February, this Spanish/American coproduction has never been as beloved as J.P.’s killer-on-campus opus, but that’s only because it seems to play out in a more straightforward manner. Trust me; this film brings all the B level goods, with no expiration date in sight.

James Lesure is not new to television.
He's been starring on some of the best shows on the small screen since his career first began in 1995, with a small role on a made-for-tv movie about Oj Simpson.
Over 20 years later after featured roles on For Your Love, Las Vegas and Men at Work, he's wooing Lisa Edelstein's Abby on Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce.
As Coach Mike Brady, Lesure is the feared leader of little league Abby can't resist. He gets to turn otherwise disgusting habits sexy and play at turning Abby's head.
He carries on a warm and inviting conversation and has a genuine and infectious laugh. Get to know him better by reading more below.

We've lost a television icon.
Florence Henderson, known the world over for her role as the matriarch of The Brady Bunch, Carol Brady, has died at age 82.
Her manager, Kayla Pressman, shared the news in a statement to Associated Press on Thursday, saying Henderson died surrounded by friends and family.
Henderson was born the youngest of 10 children to farmers in Indiana.
After she graduated from high school, she attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City.
Henderson married Ira Bernstein, with whom she had four children, and divorced in 1985.
She later wed Dr. John George Kappas and they remained married until his death in 1987.
We're most familiar with her story as it began in 1969 on The Brady Bunch, but she was an accomplished stage actress before then, and was also a Today Show girl.
Interestingly, Henderson was also the first woman to host The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson.

For a creature that is not inherently scary, the common slug sure has menaced a lot of horror movies. From Night of the Creeps to Slither to The Puppet Masters, the slimy little mollusks have played the villain on screen again and again. But it is only Juan Piquer Simón’s 1988 film Slugs (aka Slugs, muerte viscosa) that gives them top billing. Of all the slug horror movies, this one is the sluggiest.
Slugs is also trashy, gory nonsense, which is to be expected from the director of Pieces, one of the most insane slasher movies ever made. While Slugs lacks the inspired lunacy of Pieces, it’s not for lack of trying. The film stars Michael Garfield as Mike Brady (that’s right), a worker with the health department who suspects that a recent rash of gruesome deaths are the result of a new strain of slug that has...

Welcome to another weekend flashback. Flashback to The Brady Bunch TV show, cancelled in 1974 by ABC, after five moderately successful seasons. A review of tonight's "You're the Worst" coming up just as soon as I flash Gnarls Barkley after that Fiona Apple show... This has been a fall for TV episodes that open in a way that makes you wonder if your show accidentally got replaced with something else. The earthquake sequence at the start of "The Leftovers" season 2 and the movie outtakes from the "Fargo" premiere both seemed to come out of nowhere, serving as disorienting pathways into new seasons, even if they ultimately made thematic sense for both shows. "LCD Soundsystem" isn't quite as extreme a departure for "You're the Worst," in that Rob and Lexi literally live in the same neighborhood as Gretchen and Jimmy, and walk past Jimmy's house — and the mountain of empty liquor bottles in his recycling bins — within the episode's first few minutes. Still, the opening scenes almost make the episode feel like...

Gary Cole, who currently stars on "Veep" as Selina Meyer's senior strategist Kent Davidson, is -- for those who've been keeping track -- one of the most eclectic and slyly kooky performers alive. The 58-year-old actor netted his first major nomination last year (an Emmy nod for guest-acting on "Veep"), but his career has been a long, ascending spiral of dead-eyed caricatures and commanding dramatic roles. His august screen presence suggests a comfort playing white-collar blowhards, but that's the magic of Gary Cole: He's absolutely comfortable playing anything. That's pretty astounding when you realize he's played everything. Interviews with Cole, including ours from 2014's PaleyFest below, reveal that he's not a Crispin Glover type who's as unnerving (and nervous-making) as many of his signature roles. In fact, he kind of seems like a milder version of Kent. Perhaps it's his education at Illinois State University alongside fellow thespian veterans...

Keeping things festive around these parts, Cargill & I continue to move across the calendar and celebrate our favorite holiday horror films. We leap ahead to June and pay a visit to The Stepfather. True to our nature as shady flimflamers, The Stepfather doesn’t actually take place on Father’s Day. I know, it’s a cheat, we’re scoundrels. However, if there is one film that will make you rethink sending that new necktie to dear old dad this June, it’s The Stepfather. Terry O’Quinn (with hair no less) stars in a slow-burn, entirely unsettling family horror/drama that Mike Brady definitely does not want you to see. Things in the film industry must be in an interesting place when someone in power says, "A 'Gilligan's Island' movie starring the guy from '1600 Penn'? Sold." That's what happening, though. Josh Gad has been tapped to co-write and star in a movie adaptation of the 1960s sitcom.
Warner Bros. is behind the feature film, which will be a vehicle to push Gad to the forefront as a star. He will co-write the script with Benji Samit and Dan Hernandez, according to Deadline. There's no word on what role Gad will play just yet, but the best bets are Gilligan or the Skipper.
"Gilligan's Island" is far from the first TV property to be turned into a movie, and things don't always end pretty. Sometimes a film can capture the spirit of the show, but the odds are normally against it.

If there’s one thing I’m sure of, it’s that TV gods exist. Who else but higher powers would test my faith by making me fall in love with a new show, create a false sense of security after it survives for an entire season only to pull the rug out from under me with the big C (cancellation). Yes, they can be cruel, those lords of the TV land, but every so often my prayers are answered and I’m given just what I ask for. I must have prayed extra hard in October 1987, because that’s when The Jetsons met The Flintstones, making one little kid very, very happy. It took the TV gods about 20 years after the original runs ended for both shows, but at least it was a movie and not a half hour episode. I would have felt jipped otherwise. Though The Jetsons,...

The three "Brady Bunch" stars did four shows on Sunday, May 19, meeting fans, signing autographs and posing for photographs after each show.
"I think everybody, at some point in their life, wanted to be a Brady," Williamson said at the event, according to Cincinnati.com. "Their whole family seemed so perfect. They were so nice. I think it resonates with the child in all of us to want to be Brady."
There was talk of a new "Brady Bunch" making it to TV via CBS TV Studios and Vince Vaughn. The script followed a widower and father of three Mike Brady remarrying a Carol, who had with three kids of her own.

It's been 39 years since "The Brady Bunch" concluded its five-season run, but rerun heaven has kept the series very much alive, and the cast's frequent reunions have allowed them to stay within reach of the spotlight. But what exactly has this lovable clan been up to since their goofy sitcom said goodbye in 1974? Most of them have popped up in a variety of TV shows and movies, but a few others have taken decidedly more low-key paths. Here's the story of what one of television's most famous families is up to today.
Florence Henderson (Carol Brady)
Current age: 79
The only member of the "Brady Bunch" cast to retain her icon status, Henderson appeared on "Dancing with the Stars" in 2010. She currently hosts "The Florence Henderson Show," a daily talkfest on Retirement Living TV. Henderson also regularly pops up in guest-starring roles, including a gig on "Samantha Who?" that earned her an Emmy nomination.

He’s the first to suspect the salt-hating gastropods are to blame for the town’s recent rash of gory deaths, but the other authorities are slow to believe him so he joins forces with the local waterworks man and a British slug expert in the...

Oh, our noses! Look, we can’t stop Vince Vaughn from executive producing a Brady Bunch reboot. Seeing as how 21 Jump Street and 90210 were already taken, it was only a matter of time before someone reached even further back into the annals of television and noodled with the classic ’70s blended-family sitcom. According to Deadline, Vaughn’s update revolves around the conceit that the original show’s “youngest son Bobby Brady is divorced and remarried to a woman who also has first-marriage kids and the couple have their own child together.” There hasn’t been any casting news as of yet, which means there is still time for Vince Vaughn to read this post and act accordingly. If we’re going to do this, dude, then let’s do this right! By including actors and actresses like…

Does the world really need a Brady Bunch reboot? Well, whether it needs it or not, it's happening. Vince Vaughn has teamed up with CBS to breath life into a new Brady Bunch series that THR describes as a "multicamera comedy about the famed TV family would revolve around the youngest of Mike Brady's boys, Bobby Brady, as a divorced dad who remarries and starts a new family." It will also include "Bobby and his new bride's exes and, like the original, feature their kids from previous marriages, along with the couple's shared child." So I guess it's more of a sequel than a reboot.
Yeah, I watched reruns of the show when I was growing up, but that's because there was nothing else on TV. So I wasn't really all that attached to it. I may end up watching the first episode out of curiosity, so we'll see if it wins me over.

Vince Vaughn has been looking to reboot the original "The Brady Bunch" TV series and has now convinced CBS TV Studios, the rights owner, to move forward. Vaughn will executive produce. The original sitcom, created by Sherwood Schwartz and starring Robert Reed and Florence Henderson, ran on ABC from 1969-1974. It centered on Mike Brady (Reed), a widowed architect with three sons who marries Carol Ann Martin (Henderson), who has three daughters. This is the first major series reboot of "The Brady Bunch," which has spawned spin-offs, TV movie reunions, a musical and a successful movie parody franchise starring Shelley Long.

It lacks the feathered, vaguely defined flamboyance that's still sure to come, but above is the first photo of Michael Douglas as Liberace and Matt Damon as Liberace's companion and alleged lover Scott Thorson, snapped on the set of HBO's Behind The Candelabra—the biopic that is quite possibly Steven Soderbergh's final film. Of course, Douglas really looks more like a Roy Orbison/Mike Brady/Joe Pesci-in-Casino hybrid here, but that's Liberace for you: the Everyman. [via The Huffington Post]...

CBS is looking to tell a new story about a man named Brady. The network has given a script commitment to a reboot of The Brady Bunch from executive producer Vince Vaughn and CBS Television Studios, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. The multicamera comedy about the famed TV family would revolve around the youngest of Mike Brady's boys, Bobby Brady, as the divorced dad with kids remarries and stars a new family. Raising Hope's Mike Mariano will pen the project and executive produce alongside Lloyd Schwartz, the son of the late Sherwood Schwartz who created the original ABC sitcom that

Exclusive: America’s most famous blended TV family is eying a comeback. CBS is developing a reboot of the cult comedy The Brady Bunch, co-developed and executive produced by Vince Vaughn. The multi-camera comedy project, which has received a script order, will be produced by CBS TV Studios. In the new Brady Bunch, written by Mike Mariano (Raising Hope, My Name Is Earl), a divorced Bobby Brady, with children of his own, is remarried to a woman who also has kids, and together they also share a child. In addition, their ex-spouses are still part of their lives. The changes in the premiere reflect the evolution of family dynamics over the past four decades.

Mike Brady, "The Brady Bunch" (ABC, 1969-74): Even with a new wife and three new stepdaughters under the same roof as his own three sons, Robert Reed's Mike was so inexplicably laid back and unruffled in the face of any family crisis that some comics joked he must have been stoned, or at least comfortably medicated. Whatever, it seemed to work. Stepdaughter Marcia even nominated him for a local Father of the Year award!
Dr. Herb Melnick, "Two and a Half Men" (CBS, 2004-present): Is it any wonder teenage Jake Harper is such a hapless slacker given the nonstop hostilities between his divorced parents, Alan and Judith? Thankfully, Herb, Jake's former pediatrician and now his stepdad, knows how to rise above all the shrillness and offer his stepson regular life lessons in how to keep your cool when everyone around you is losing theirs.

For the second installment of The Liberal Dead’s look at the animal attack sub-genre, we will be taking a look at the 1988 Juan Piquer Simon (Pieces, The Pod People) film Slugs. Based on a 1982 Shaun Hutson novel by the same title, the film revolves around a rural community that becomes over run by carnivorous slugs. Unforgettably cheesy dialog, graphic gore, and a ton of laughs make this a must experience flick for fans of old-school 80s splatter.
This is most certainly one of those, so good its bad type of flicks. Best viewed with friends and perhaps some sort of mind-altering substance. The dialog is so hilariously poorly written and delivered that it is impossible to walk away from this film without memorizing some lines for future use in awkward conversations. Shut down the Father of the Year awards right now, people, because we have a winner! Ronald Fenty, the formerly estranged father of Rihanna, recently gave an interview with Heat magazine in which he pretty much schools the world on how to be an awesome dad. We're talking Mike Brady-level parenting, so all you gentleman out there who want to have kids one day, listen up. For instance, how does Ronald help Rihanna deal with the immense pressure of having her body scrutinized by a bajillion people all the time? "I actually thought she was a little fat the last time I saw her," he said. "When I saw her at this year's Grammys, I thought she was back to her normal size. I used to joke with her, 'Robyn, you're getting too fat.' But I think she's fine. I think she [...]...

Have you been watching New Girl? It's a pretty good show. They're funny -- especially Schmidt. She's adorkable. The unresolved sexual tension thing is not bad.
My one knock is this; where the hell are those perky hipsters supposed to be living? Not what city -- although that's an unsolved mystery in its own right (it looks like La, but I'm convinced they're pretending its Chicago). More specifically, however, what is with that apartment? It's enormous. Even for TV, it's cavernous... four bedrooms and an industrial bathroom, replete with lockers. Obviously, it's meant to be a loft, like this one in Los Angeles. But the 3-bedroom, 1,200 square foot loft listed at that site goes for $3,000 per month. Jess and her roomies have more than twice that much space (in the bathroom alone), a huge terrace, amazing sunlight, roof access and Four bedrooms. Four.

Democracy is a flawed concept. Here are 50 films that the IMDb voters would unfairly have you believe are worth no more than 5.9/10…
Six out of ten isn’t a very good score, really. It’s barely over half marks. 60 per cent. It’s alright, but it’s not great. You wouldn’t be proud of getting six out of ten on most kinds of tests, would you? So you might assume that any film that scores under six stars out of ten on the IMDb isn’t very good – possibly even terrible.
But that’s not always the case. Averages don’t tell the whole story; anything that’s potentially controversial or divisive will end up with a score that suggests most people weren’t that bothered about it, since high and low scores will be averaged – and IMDb users often exaggerate their scores anyway, giving a film one star...

Chicago – Dennis Farina is Chicago. Born and raised in the Windy City, his persona and manner is everything Chicago – bold, classy and the true urban Midwest. His latest film is “The Last Rites of Joe May,” which features another actor who got his start in Chicago theater, Gary Cole.
Last month, at the Chicago International Film Festival, both actors did a press day promoting their gritty Chicago-based film, which was directed by Joe Maggio. “The Last Rites of Joe May” stars Farina in the role of a lifetime, permeating the wintry streets of Chicago as an aging small time hustler that everyone assumes is dead after he comes back from an extended hospital stay. Gary Cole has a small but significant role as Lenny, a neighborhood boss.

At the New York International Fringe Festival, where advertising budgets are basically nonexistent, it helps to have a hook. In the case of the Shakespearean-themed spoof, “The Bardy Bunch: The War of the Families Partridge and Brady,” the show’s name didn’t hurt.
“The title has probably been our best marketing tool,” says Stephen Garvey, a 44-year-old sitcom fan from Huntington, N.Y., who wrote and produced the musical comedy.

You know Sherwood Schwartz as the writer/producer who created The Brady Bunch and Gilligan's Island, who reminded that balls shouldn't be thrown in the house, who made the case for overpacking for a three-hour boat tour, and who basically defined your tube-spent youth. Schwartz died today at age 94. Here are five things you may not know about a TV icon whose shows you knew, and loved, so well: 1. He Wanted Gene Hackman to Play Mike Brady: As Schwartz once told us, his idea didn't get anywhere with the network suits, who preferred a familiar primetime face to a middle-aged character actor. Enter Robert Reed. And as much as Reed feuded with Schwartz over Brady Bunch scripts, you'd...

Though openly-gay Newsweek journalist Ramin Setoodeh’s infamous 2010 article “Straight Jacket” was certainly a misguided piece of criticism, it unfortunately brought to light an all-too-common misconception held by both Hollywood decision makers and members of the public at large – that gay actors are incapable of adequately portraying straight characters on-screen.
History, of course, shows that ludicrous assertion to be entirely false – particularly considering the number of closeted gay actors from earlier eras who vaulted to stardom specifically because they were able to convincingly portray straight romantic leads.
Of course, those were much more intolerant times – times in which actors were continuously pressured to hide their sexuality for fear they’d be rejected if the truth came out (a sadly valid point in those days). Now, however – while we still have a long way to go – there’s an emerging crop of openly-gay actors who are proving it’s possible to...

Yoda may be pushing up the galactic daisies these days. So which movie characters do you go to now for sage advice? Glad you asked...
Yoda, friends, is long gone from cinemas. No longer can we rely on his sage advice to keep us on the straight and narrow. No longer can we expect the small green one to appear on the big screen (although you can in Clone Wars, to be fair), dishing out critical, incisive advice for us to live our lives by.
And thus, to fill the gap, we’ve been hunting for the people we can look up to, the more modern day screen Yodas. Or, at the very least, the people who can calm us through the trials of life, just by us reaching for a DVD off the shelf.
Without further ado...

Last week, 'Dancing With the Stars' producers weren't sure if they could get the rights to 'The Brady Bunch' theme song for Florence Henderson (aka Carol Brady) and pro partner Corky Ballas to use during their TV theme week performance.
As viewers saw last night, the song was approved. While it wasn't perhaps the best tune to tango to, it did have great sentimental value to Henderson.
"The reason I really wanted to dance to the 'Brady Bunch' theme was because I wanted to dedicate it to Bob," Henderson told TV Squad on the post-show press line, referring to the late Robert Reed (who played her TV husband Mike Brady.)
"To lose him to AIDS [in 1992] broke all of our hearts. The fact that Barry [Williams, Greg] was here and knows how close we all were to Bob ... that was my dedication tonight.

As anyone who’s ever turned on a TV knows, there’s lots of bad television out there. There’s even a lot of really bad television.
Very rarely has been there anything on television as bad as The Brady Bunch Variety Hour, a show that ran for a mere nine episodes in 1976-1977.
Consider:
The show was a typical 1970s song and dance variety show, but except for Brady mother Florence Henderson, none of the cast had any real experience, and in most cases, any real talent, for song and dance. Several cast members could barely carry a tune. One of the original Brady Bunch cast members, Eve Plumb, who played Jan, refused to participate, meaning the part had to be recast with an unfamiliar actress, later dubbed “Fake Jan.” Since the show was produced by Sid and Marty Krofft (of H.R. Pufnstuf children’s television fame), the sets...

He's already actively planning his move to Los Angeles to take over for Jay Leno and start The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien. Though the timeslot and location will be new, his announcer will be a familiar friend.

Liam Neeson is officially a full-fledged action star. The Irish-born actor has often played heroes, whether it was Oskar Schindler in Steven Spielberg’s masterpiece Schindler’s List, the wise Qui-Gon Jinn in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace or determined sex researcher Alfred Kinsey in 2005’s biopic Kinsey, Neeson has always had a knack for playing the earnest-but-flawed good guy. In his new movie Taken (Fox), writer/producer Luc Besson and director Pierre Morel have turned him into a Dad with the “mad skills” of a super-spy – think Mike Brady crossed with Jason Bourne.
The result is a well-reviewed (56% Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes) action film that will help to satisfy blockbuster-hungry audiences waiting for Warner Bros’ Watchmen (due March 6). Taken has scored big on its opening day with an estimated $9.8M and that could translate to a possible $24M by Monday morning. That will be more...
