Little House on the Prairie star Melissa Gilbert married Timothy Busfield of Thirtysomething fame back in 2013. For both actors, it was their third marriage. In the Laura Ingalls actor’s latest memoir, Back to the Prairie, she writes about how Busfield is different from her past partners.

Even after the couple’s honeymoon phase, Gilbert “reveled in the respect” her third husband showed her. She knew from the beginning that their love was different from her past relationships. But it seems Busfield was different, too.
“Before Tim, I always felt like I had to make my own abilities and accomplishments smaller to allow the men I was with to feel confident, bigger, macho, and in control,” wrote Gilbert. “Tim was different. Instead of feeling threatened by a strong, outspoken, capable woman, he encouraged me to meet each day fearlessly.

Melissa Gilbert and Timothy Busfield got married in 2013. It was the third marriage for both actors, and they both had children from previous relationships. Blending families can be tricky. The case of Gilbert and Busfield was no exception. The Little House on the Prairie alum initially believed the task would be easier than it ended up being. “Easy” was not how it all went down.

After Little House on the Prairie star Melissa Gilbert divorced her second husband, Bruce Boxleitner, she quickly started dating someone who, in hindsight, wasn’t good for her. He seemed to have all the bad qualities of every boyfriend she’d ever had, all wrapped up in one person.

After Gilbert and Boxleitner divorced, the Laura Ingalls actor was eager to make up for lost time when it came to dating. At the same time, she was coming to terms with being an actress in Los Angeles in her forties. So she got the Botox, she colored her hair, she bought a convertible, and started dating a “slightly younger but wildly inappropriate French dude.”

– “3-D Auteurs,” a 19-day, 34-film festival spotlighting stereoscopic movies by some of history’s most distinguished directors, will run at Film Forum November 11 – 29. The festival spans 3-D’s earliest days (including some turn-of-the-century films by pioneer Georges Méliès) to the present, and represents virtually every genre, including Westerns, Film Noir, and Science Fiction. Hollywood’s first big 3-D craze (sometimes called 3-D’s “golden era”), intended to offset the threat of television, came in the early 1950s, with such movies as Hitchcock’s “Dial M For Murder,” André De Toth’s “House of Wax” and Jack Arnold’s “Creature From the Black Lagoon” (all included in the series).

Former child star Melissa Gilbert was a guest on "Watch What Happens Live" Wednesday (Jan. 22), and host Andy Cohen wanted to go a little deeper into some things she wrote about in her 2010 book, "Prairie Tale," where the "Little House on the Prairie" star speaks quite candidly about growing up in Hollywood in the 1970s and '80s.
Cohen: Did Rob Lowe (her one-time fiance) ask you to take anything out of the book?
Gilbert: "He asked me to take out the word 'pretty' when I referred to him. That was it. ... 'Just could you do one thing? Could you take out the word 'pretty'? I hate it when people call me pretty.'"
Cohen: On a scale of 1-10, how big an a-hole is Scott Baio?
Gilbert: "6-7."
Cohen: Billy Idol once took you to Rick James' house, which you called "the scariest place you'd ever been to.

Bo Brinkman, an associate professor of computer science at Miami University in Ohio, is married to a librarian. One day, while listening to his wife talk about the arduous, tedious task of rearranging improperly shelved books, Brinkman got an idea.
Brinkman, whose expertise is in augmented reality and computer ethics, worked with one of his students, Matt Hodges, and devised an Android app (they used a Google Nexus One smartphone and a Samsung Galaxy tablet, according to the Chronicle of Education, which reported this story today). They added tags similar to Qr codes to a series of books, tags that represented the call number of each book. Hold up the camera or tablet in front of a series of books, and an overlay indicates to you which books are in the right order, which aren't, and which directions you should move them.
