Terry Pratchett's young adult Discworld novel "The Wee Free Men" is getting a film adaptation by the Jim Henson Company.
The story follows nine-year-old young witch Tiffany Aching, her frying pan, and some six-inch angry blue men called the Nac Mac Feegles who seek to save her sibling from the nefarious Queen of Fairyland.
Rhianna Pratchett, who penned both of the recent "Tomb Raider" games, is penning the script and partnering with Henson to make the movie. She says in a press release: "I've loved the Jim Henson Company's work all my life, so it's a great honor to team up with them and bring Wee Free Men to the big screen."
Jim Henson’s son, Brian, will serve as producer on the film alongside Rhianna, Vince Raisa, Rob Wilkins, and Rod Brown.

Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire share the big screen as pals Jay Gatsby and Nick Carraway in The Great Gatsby, which hit theaters last week and premiered at the Cannes Film Festival on Wednesday, but their real-life relationship started long ago. Leo and Tobey have been friends for 25 years, after meeting at an audition in the late '80s. Getty Leo Recalls Their First Meeting Fondly "After I met Tobey at an audition, I felt like I wanted this guy to be my friend. I remember driving back from school and he was doing Hot Rod Brown Class Clown with Whoopi Goldberg outside Hollywood High. It was a high school. And I jumped out of my car in the middle of the scene, as they were shooting, practically." Leo added, "I was like, 'Tobey! Tobey! Tobey! Give me your number.' He was like, 'Yeah, who are you again?'" For quotes - and video!

New York — Tobey Maguire didn't have to go far when Leonardo DiCaprio called him about meeting to discuss an adaptation of "The Great Gatsby" with Baz Luhrmann.
"I happened to live next door to Leo at the time, so it wasn't a far journey," Maguire says. "I was like, `Oh, yeah. Sure. I can be over in 30 seconds if that's good for you.'"
"The Great Gatsby" is the first film of note co-starring the two longtime pals. It's fitting, too, because they play the classic tandem of the desperate romantic Jay Gatsby (DiCaprio) and his lone friend, the narrator Nick Carraway (Maguire) – who, not unlike Maguire, lives adjacent to Gatsby.
Working together on a film is a long time coming for DiCaprio and Maguire. In a recent joint interview at the Plaza Hotel in New York, the two cheerfully reflected on their close friendship, flashing occasional glimpses of the...

Tobey Maguire talked about his first big acting gig on "Jimmy Kimmel Live." He had to fight for it, but he was cast in the made-for-tv movie, "Tales from the Whoop: Hot Rod Brown, Class Clown." The titular "Whoop" was none other than Whoopi Goldberg, which isn't a bad co-star for your big break.
Maguire played a high school kid who learns his own value with the thanks of his guardian angel, played by Goldberg. But he almost didn't get the role for the 1990 special. He said the director originally wanted to go with a more "seasoned" child actor, but Maguire told him that sometimes in life it's good to take a chance. The director did, and Maguire's career has only skyrocketed since then.
Of course, even though he's a big star now doesn't mean he got to avoid taking a visual trip down memory lane. Of course Jimmy Kimmel...
