- Continues to work as a ghost makeup artist on various film and television projects.
- In the late 1980's, Damon Charles created and introduced the world of beauty to a new formulation of cosmetics. He produced the first all gel skin and hair care system called The Damon Charles Total Rehydration System, which throughout the early 1990's was sold exclusively through television infomercials.
- From 1984 to 1994, Damon Charles created, owned, and operated The Institute of Studio Makeup, Ltd. which was known as being the premier makeup training school of the time. Former students have won awards in every field of the entertainment industry, film, television, and theater, including a graduate who co-won a technical Academy Award given for improving the quality of a makeup product.
- In 1978, Damon begged Rock Hudson, (known to him as Roy), to come out of the closet and put to rest all the terrible rumors surrounding him. Roy replied, "If the general public knows Rock Hudson is gay, he would die." In 1985, Roy said, "The public now knows Rock Hudson is gay, and now I'm dying.".
- Damon was once considered one of the youngest and highest paid personal makeup artists in the business.
- Throughout the 1970's, Damon helped keep Hollywood's "open" secret safe in the closet. By working under a variety of different names, Damon was the personal makeup artist to many if not most, gay, lesbian, and bisexual performers, and studio executives.
- Damon was discovered in San Francisco. While living on the streets as a long-haired hippie, Damon would make money by doing body painting on the naked bodies of guys and girls who hung around Powell Street. One day, a very conservative man in Florsheim shoes walked up to him and asked if he'd ever thought of being a makeup artist? Damon replied, "Do I have to cut my hair?" The man laughed, said no, gave him his business card but said he'd have to move down to Los Angeles. Within a year Damon moved, looked up the man who became his makeup mentor, and Damon has been happily working in the Industry since.
- In 2004 Damon and his spouse Andy told their cousin Michael Wray to go to an audition looking for contestants for a new reality show called Hell's Kitchen. Michael was the show's very first winner in 2005 and became known as the "tattooed chef".
- Due to his 1992 infomercial, Damon for several years was personally credited in Webster's Online Dictionary as being the modern reference for the word "rehydration".
- In 2002 Damon was called in, and personally designed and created a special makeup used for Disney's secret "Gemini Project". (A project that was able to film humans and then almost instantly create computer generated animated characterizations) Damon was the only makeup artist working with more than 50 computer techies. He along with the others, had to sign a non-disclosure statement about the project, but he was filmed applying the makeup to models. And, on one occasion when they were working extremely long hours, Damon was filmed in the special makeup he did to himself, because the model had to leave.
Unfortunately this new age process was met with great protests from studio animators and created internal turmoil at Disney Studios causing this perfected project to be shut down ... At least for now. Update 2010: The makeup process that Damon created was used in the movie Avatar as well as in other earlier films. It has now been confirmed in a recent interview with Steven Spielberg that he will be using the same process in one of his upcoming movies. - January 2010: Damon was teaching intense acting and motivational techniques to a select group of students 5 to 18, preparing them for major competitions in New York and Los Angeles. More than 75% became winners.
- July 2007: Besides continuing to do makeup and makeup effects in films, Damon took his 38 plus years of knowledge and experience in the film and television world, and started guiding and training a new generation of acting and industry hopefuls in and around the San Francisco Bay Area.
- 2007: Damon bought a former church in The Bay Area and turned it into his Northern California home while still maintaining his home in Los Angeles, so he could work as a local in both areas.
- 2018: Damon and his spouse Andrew Levinson decided to escape California and its craziness, and moved out of California to a sane, beautiful, and pollution-free state.
