Killer Klowns From Outer Space was released by Scream Factory on May 14th, 2024. This review is in regards to the 35th Anniversary Steelbook.
Growing up, my Nana had a VHS copy of Killer Klowns From Outer Space that she had recorded off of cable television. That’s an odd concept these days, but back then it was common practice. This film — along with Edward Scissor Hands and Mac and Me — were on constant rotation every time I’d go to visit for a few weeks each summer.
As a child I wasn’t quite sure what to make of the strange alien clowns. I remember being confused and wondering, “Is this supposed to be funny or scary?” The answer is — of course — both with an emphasis on humor. I hadn’t seen the film since I was young, but I was eager to see how it held up all these years later.

So with Killer Klowns From Outer Space: The Game, you’ve got the Chiodo Bros. involved, you’ve got the classic Dickies song, and you’ve got the classic Klown mannerisms with the gameplay. So what more do you want? How about female Klowns?
With IllFonic’s panel at Pax East yesterday, Stephen Chiodo accidentally let loose news that female Klowns will be coming to the game (which X user Nyzechu caught on film). “That wasn’t on my list of things not to say,” Stephen joked before Edward Chiodo told attendees to refrain from telling anyone. “I think I’m gonna be cocooned,” said Stephen.
“You know what? You’ve gotta let the little things out of the bag. It’s not gonna ruin anything,” Charles Chiodo quipped. The panel did go on to say that they do have more klowns and more content for the game that they haven’t talked about.

You’d think it would be a given that any new project that serves as a follow-up to the 1988 cult classic Killer Klowns from Outer Space (watch it Here) would need to feature two very important elements: the klowns and the famous theme song by The Dickies… but the upcoming Killer Klowns from Outer Space video game is missing one of those elements, as The Dickies have confirmed that their theme song is not being used for the game.
The announcement was made on The Dickie’s Facebook page: Got some gnarly news to share, a true bummer: The Dickies’ Killer Klowns from Outer Space theme song won’t be in upcoming Killer Klowns Video Game. Yeah, makes ya feel a bit gutted. Like a total slap in the face after all the love and loyalty fans have given that song for 36 years. The band really appreciates that you’ve...

IllFonic’s Charles Brungardt provided the following statement: “When we first started talking to Good Shepherd Entertainment and Teravision Games about this possibility we were very excited about the IP. Then we got to know the team at Teravision and knew we were going to make this happen. For decades, the 1988 film Killer Klowns from Outer Space (watch it Here) was a little-known cult film that never got the sequel it deserved… and while it still hasn’t received the sequel it deserves, it’s clear that its cult following has gotten quite large. Now Spirit Halloween has started taking orders for one of the most impressive collectible display items a die-hard Killer Klowns from Outer Space fan could get their hands on: a 6 foot cotton candy cocoon, complete with the face of a victim sticking out of the cotton candy!

Back in 1988, the Chiodo Brothers brought us the cult classic horror comedy Killer Klowns from Outer Space (watch it Here) – and pretty much ever since, they have been hoping to get the chance to make a sequel to the film. A couple months ago, it was announced that a video game based on the 1988 cult classic Killer Klowns from Outer Space (watch it Here) will be released for PC, Playstation 5, Playstation 4, Xbox Series, and Xbox One sometime in 2023. A trailer for the game can be seen in the embed above, and now the folks at IGN have shared a video that shows how closely the video game resembles the movie it’s based on. That video can be viewed at the bottom of this article.
When the announcement was made, it was said that the video game maps would be “inventive, but faithful recreations of iconic locations from the Killer Klowns from Outer Space movie.” The video below does a great job of showing just how faithful these location recreations are.
The Killer Klowns from Outer Space video game is a multiplayer, asymmetrical (3 vs 7) horror game that pits three Klowns against seven Humans.

Whether it’s Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer or The Nightmare Before Christmas, who doesn’t love a bit of stop-motion animation during the holidays? Presumably, most people are fans of the genre and Netflix looks like they might be about to deliver another classic this November in the form of Alien XMas, a new special from Killer Klowns from Outer Space directors the Chiodo brothers.
Alien XMas will tell the story of adorable extraterrestrial X, who comes to the North Pole as part of an invasion force intent on swiping the Earth’s gravity. X will find a home with Santa Claus and the elves, though, and so will help defend the planet from the other evil aliens. As you can see from this trailer, the movie looks lovingly made with an old-fashioned spirit to it, but also promises to provide a fun twist on the usual tropes of Christmas films.

Springboarding from a youth spent shooting their own movies on 8mm – the heartfelt intent and burning enthusiasm for which sometimes (but not always) rendered the made-for-pennies mini-epics amusingly watchable today – in 1987 the enterprising Chiodo brothers finally got to stage their first feature film production, which was released to decent acclaim in 1988. Produced and co-written by Charles, Edward and Stephen Chiodo, with the latter occupying the director’s chair, that film is every bit as bizarre as you’d expect of one bearing the title Killer Klowns from Outer Space.
The town of Crescent Cove is under assault by alien beings, which appear in the form of freakish clowns and whose spaceship adopts the facade of a circus tent. These aliens are abducting the populace and cocooning them in a flesh-eating substance resembling candyfloss. It’s up to local cop Dave Hansen (John Allen Nelson), clean-cut lad Mike...

Step aside Pennywise… These Killer Klowns from Outer Space are outta this world literally! and they re packing deadly popcorn guns and cotton candy cocoons!
When Mike and his girlfriend Debbie warn the local police that a gang of homicidal alien-clowns have landed in the nearby area (in a spaceship shaped like a circus big-top, no less), the cops are naturally sceptical. Before long however, reports are coming in from other anxious residents detailing similar run-ins with the large-shoed assailants. There can no longer be any doubt the Killer Klowns from Outer Space are here, and they re out to turn the Earth s population into candy floss!
Written and produced by the Chiodo brothers knowns for their work on a host of special-effects laden hits such as Team America: World Police and the Critters...

Killer Klowns from Outer Space was always one of those movies that I knew I had to see but never got round to it, but through Netflix I got lucky. Finally getting to see it I saw what all the fuss was about and just why it is seen as a cult classic. Now Arrow Video have given it their treatment on a dual DVD and Blu-ray release and with plenty of special features it’s enough to make you drool.

I really don't remember a time when there wasn't talk of a sequel to the Chiodo Brothers' Killer Klowns from Outer Space. But let's face it... it's probably never going to happen. A TV show, however... well, that's a different story altogether!
According to our own John Squires at iHorror, who sat down recently with Charles Chiodo, there is no sequel planned for 2016, thus debunking some nagging rumors. In the end MGM didn't feel there's enough fan interest to warrant funding a sequel so until they get moving or change their minds, we hopefuls are dead in the water.
Chiodo did go on to say that he and his brothers would be interested in turning Killer Klowns into a TV series, but there's nothing official on that front either. If MGM doesn't do anything with the franchise, the Chiodos are considering "making a totally original scary clown movie, which would...

“Whatta ya gonna do? Knock my block off?”
Killer Klowns From Outer Space screens midnights at The Hi-Pointe Theater (1005 McCausland Ave, St. Louis) this Friday and Saturday nights (May 2nd and 3rd)
Deep in the woods, a comet crashes, luring an old man (just like in The Blob). He finds a circus tent… but inside isn’t a circus, but hideous killer clowns who want to trap you in cotton candy cocoons and do terrible clown things to you. Just try telling the police, because they won’t believe you. Shadow puppets that eat bus passengers? Popcorn that grows into little fanged Klown monsters? A balloon dog that barks? 30-year old actors playing teenagers? Yeah, that’s plausible!
You may want to check under the bed – there may be a Killer Klown under there!
Killer Klowns From Outer Space was an outrageous film from 1988 that perfectly tapped into the ickiness...

Clowns. Who doesn’t hate clowns? Who doesn’t fear them? Even though some crazy people see them as adorable comedy figures in a circus, most sane folks are terrified of these things. Maybe it’s the innate human fear of someone wearing a mask, even if that mask is make-up. Whatever the case, clowns have been a source of nightmares in film (such as in Stephen King’s It) and in real life (like the creepy clown figure that stalked the streets of Northampton, U.K., recently). It was this near-ubiquitous fear that drove the Chiodo Brothers to make the film Killer Klowns from Outer Space. Meant to be an homage to 50s monster movies like The Blob, Killer Klowns from Outer Space was a ludicrous low-budget movie that became a worldwide hit. In honor of the Northampton clown being unmasked, and enjoying some midnight horror movies during the month of October, it...

Anything is scary when you make it monster-sized. But when you take a creature that has the word "monster" in its accepted, everyday name, you're really raising the bar. Gila! is a remake of the '50s film The Giant Gila Monster, and we've got some concept art and promo posters for you to feast your eyes on. Read on!
The conceptual designs of the monster you'll see below were created by Charles Chiodo (of the Chiodo Bros.), co-writer of Killer Klowns From Outer Space and puppet art director on Trey Parker's Team America: World Police. As you can see, the artwork is quite realistic with a creature feature feel to it.
The rumor we've heard is that Gila! is going to open in drive-in theaters across the United States when the official release date (yet to be announced) arrives. The film has wrapped production so Gila! can't be that far off.

This morning "Face/Off" reality television star and filmmaker/FX maestro Frank Ippolito chatted up his horror short Night of the Little Dead on Kroq’s "Kevin and Bean" radio show, so we thought it high time to bring you the first look at two new trailers for the film as well as a handful of exclusive monster-centric stills of the titular creature.
Shot during our set visit (read it here) this past January, the photos below were snapped as actor Martin Klebba underwent the process of being transformed into the film's diminutive antagonist (as designed by Charlie Chiodo).
Co-directed by Ippolito and Ezekiel Zabrowski, Night of the Little Dead stars Bill Moseley (The Devil’s Rejects), Adam Savage (of the series "Mythbusters"), comedian Penn Jillette, James Hurley, Erica Taylor, Gary Morgan, Aye Jaye, and the previously mentioned Klebba and revolves around a group of rural unfortunates who find themselves...

Cinema has spent much time exploring ways in which to protect the ol’ noggin from unwanted noshing by the undead, but what of the more vertically challenged zombie? Dare we ask what body parts they may prefer? Co-directed by Frank Ippolito and Ezekiel Zabrowski, the currently in post-production ‘short’ film (pun intended) Night of the Little Dead intends to answer that question, and Dread hit the Sun Valley, CA set this past January 18th to find out.
“A couple of years ago, Charlie Chiodo and I were talking about ridiculous concepts for things, like Snakes On A Plane, and we started talking about midget zombies, and I said, ‘Night of the Little Dead!’” Ippolito told us from the makeup trailer of the film’s inception. “Charlie thought it was an awesome idea, so we started coming up with rough story ideas.”
