After the heaviness of the previous episode, Will Trent will return to heartwarming drama, levity, and humor in this upcoming installment.
The series excels at balancing both kinds of cases and character arcs, and spoilers for Will Trent Season 2 Episode 6 tease that Will will finally meet and connect with his long-lost uncle, Antonio Miranda.
Elsewhere in the episode, the Gbi and the Apd team up to solve a judge's murder, so they work together for two episodes in a row. From the spoiler photos, this case looks entertaining.
At the end of Will Trent Season 2 Episode 5, Will's Uncle Antonio reached out to him. Antonio Miranda is as curious about his nephew as Will is about him.
John Ortiz guest-stars as Antonio Miranda, who seems kind and charismatic and is eager to bond with Will.
While I'm anxious for Will to have a positive male role model, it feels like Lucy's brother got a total rewrite.

Since it premiered in January 2023, ABC's Will Trent has been a massive hit. The network just renewed the series for a third season, and the Gbi and Apd will return to solve more cases.
The renewal wasn't much of a surprise because Will Trent's ratings have risen to 4.8 million viewers and a .4 in the demo.
What makes Will Trent so intriguing to watch? Why is it different from other police procedurals? There are many reasons, but at its core are the characters.
Based on Karin Slaughter's best-selling novels, the hour-long procedural focuses on Special Agent Will Trent of the Gbi.
While no two series are the same, Will Trent is most similar to The Mentalist and Mobk, whose protagonists also see key details differently than most investigators. Adrian Monk also had a dark past, and digging into a character's past allows for more interesting storylines.

Will Trent isn’t going anywhere. ABC has decided to greenlight its engaging procedural for a third season, thanks to Season 2’s very solid ratings in its first few episodes. Per Deadline, the show recently enjoyed its highest-rated episode ever with its March 5 episode, Season 2’s “You Don’t Have to Understand.” The series received a similarly early renewal for its second season after its inaugural season was the top new drama in terms of viewers with almost 10 million. Will Trent is a police procedural with a unique twist: Its eponymous character (played by Ramon Rodriguez) has dyslexia and thus struggles to read things quickly. That hasn’t stopped him from being a most-valued member of the Georgia Bureau of Investigations, though; in fact, he seems to have a unique gift of getting into the mindset of victims in order to solve the cases at hand, whether it’s a murder,...

At the end of Will Trent Season 2 Episode 4, Amanda received a threatening phone call, had a nail in her tire, and found another message in the elevator.
Spoilers for Will Trent Season 2 Episode 5 indicate that the attacks against Amanda are personal. Before the Gbi can narrow the suspects down much, Amanda is found hovering over a dead body.
This person doesn't just want Amanda to suffer; they want her framed for murder. The race is on to clear Amanda's name and learn who has a long-time grudge against her.
This will be a fun, deep dive into Amanda's past. If they delve into any of Amanda's old cases, we will probably see the younger Amanda (Sydney Park).

It's to get back to business.
Will Trent suffered the trauma of losing Cricket and saw James Ulster, but for now, the series has turned back to the case of the week instead.
Spoilers for Will Trent Season 2 Episode 3 suggest that a corrupt politician was involved in a woman's disappearance, even though he appeared charming. Elsewhere, Angie returns to the force and investigates a sauna murder with Michael.
Politicians always have secrets they want to take to their graves, and they come out right before a big ceremony.
That's no different from when Ricardo Chavira portrays Councilman Victor Carrey, an ambitious politician and devoted family man. Chaos hits when several locals die, and one of his female interns ends up missing.
We don't know much about the dead locals, but the promo teases that the other woman, Isabella, was kidnapped.
Faith apparently recognizes some pre-natal vitamins and guesses that Isabella is pregnant.

ABC has made it a priority this season to turn sophomore series “Will Trent” into an established hit — and so far the strategy seems to be working. The drama’s Season 2 premiere already posted one of the Alphabet net’s most-watched scripted drama episodes among live+same day total viewers in years, at 4.77 million.
Now, after three days of viewing on ABC, Hulu and digital platforms, “Will Trent” has grown by nearly 3 million viewers, to 7.68 million. And its adults 18-49 average is up 142%, from 0.33 to 0.8.
Network execs attribute the growth to an extended plan to expose the show to audiences on multiple platforms and in various time slots. Buoyed by the show’s early signs of success in Season 1, ABC developed an awareness campaign to capitalize on that. This past summer, ABC aired reruns of “Will Trent” Season 1 on Friday nights to court the “20/20” audiences on that night. The...

It's challenging to find that balance when doing a book-to-screen adaptation. While Will Trent Season 1 excelled at it, they've found an even better stride in Season 2.
We barely scratched the surface of getting to know the main characters in Will Trent Season 1.
In contrast, interpersonal connections and messy family dynamics have taken center stage in Will Trent Season 2, interwoven with an unfolding mystery about Will's past.
Delving into these characters' rich histories makes us care about them, and many fans appreciate it if it follows the novels' storylines.
Ever since James Ulster arrived on the scene on Will Trent Season 1 Episode 12, he's been a thorn in the Gbi's side. He's appeared charming while he murdered innocent women or played mind games with Will.
Even though James is a monster, he values family. Would his mind games include murdering an agent so his son would visit him in prison?
That's a tough one.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Will Trent, Season 2, Episode 1, “Me Llamo Will Trent.”] Will Trent is back after a tumultuous Season 1 finale. But is everything back to normal? It certainly seems to be, as Season 2 opens very much like the pilot episode, with the titular detective (Ramón Rodríguez) once again holding his doggie Betty with a relatively calm disposition. All this, despite the recent revelation of his long-lost mother and possible father, serial killer James Ulster (Greg Germann). However, newcomer and bomb expert Cricket’s (played by special guest Susan Kelechi Watson) admiration for Trent has them both distracted as they work together. They both agree to go out on a date, and things are looking up for Trent, as his disassociation, as pointed out by Ulster’s kidnapping victim and Will’s co-worker Angie (Erika Christensen), is seemingly paying off. That is until a serial bomber takes the life of Cricket, and all his grief ...

We know Will Trent Season 2 has some big shoes to fill.
Will Trent Season 1 was one of the best freshmen shows of 2023 since it delivered stellar cases and emotional character development.
The season finale left us with an emotional cliffhanger, wondering about Angie’s road to recovery and how Will would deal with that and learning about Amanda’s role in his childhood. Viewers have become invested in seeing how these characters heal from James’s destruction.
Now that the second season is just around the corner, we’ve compiled a list of the top expectations we need to see to keep tuning in and see if the series will last many seasons.
Since Karin Slaughter wrote many Will Trent novels, that’s very possible, so hopefully, the series will heed these suggestions.
We Want Angie to Suffer Less

ABC's Will Trent has been a hit since the series began in January.
We love book-to-screen adaptations, and Will Trent Season 1 excelled at building character development, intriguing cases, and strong relationships.
The problem was that only a select few cases followed cases from the books, and the diehard fans knew it.
So what becomes more important -- staying true to the characters or the cases?
In reality, it's probably a combination of both, so we'll analyze what book aspects the series has incorporated well and what we hope they'll include in future seasons.
Book Aspects Incorporated in Will Trent Season 1
Will Trent has balanced incorporating key book aspects and layering characters beautifully. They've made Angie and Amanda more likable by casting excellent actresses like Erika Christensen and Sonja Sohn and softening their personalities.
The Will Trent Series premiere kicked off with the infamous kidnapping of Paul and Abigail Campano's daughter.

Will Trent has quickly become one of 2023's favorite new TV shows, and it's easy to see why.
There aren't many television shows with a dyslexic male lead, but that made Will enjoyable. Learning about Will's reading struggles and his time in foster care made him a complex and compassionate character.
Angie's teenage sexual assault and confronting her abuser, Amanda and Evelyn's time as 1980s cops, and Will fostering an abandoned young boy were some of the high points of Will Trent Season 1.
We've discussed our thoughts on what Will Trent excelled on and a few things they could improve on before Season 2.
Check out our thoughts below:
Best Episode: Will Trent Season 1 Episode 12 & Will Trent Season 1 Season 13
Will Trent excelled when it paralleled Amanda and Evelyn's experiences as beat cops in the 1980s trying to save prostitutes with the current serial killer.

Most finales leave viewers hanging until the next season, so it was a relief that we don't have to suffer the same fate.
There was tons of action and heart-racing drama as the team searched for Angie on Will Trent Season 1 Episode 13. These scenes were interspersed with Amanda and Evelyn dealing with Lucy's disappearance in 1986.
While there wasn't a cliffhanger, how these two cases fit together was shocking. I never would have guessed the culprit and was on the edge of my seat.
It's a huge surprise that James was revealed as the serial killer. I fully expected the shady cops, Butch and Rick, to be involved.
Seeing how sexual assault cases were handled in the 1980s was sickening. Only Amanda and Evelyn cared about those girls, and the male cops threatened that if they kept investigating, they'd get hurt too.
Women’s intuition isn’t going to find this guy.

At the end of that episode, Will — already reeling from what Amanda (Sonja Sohn) had just shared with him about his mother’s identity — came home...
