- Started out as a fertilizer salesman for Mississippi Chemical Company.
- By 1995, three of his comedy albums had been certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
- Graduated from Mississippi State University where he studied agriculture and played football.

- Many of his stories center around the Ledbetter family, most of which feature his best friend, Marcel Ledbetter.
- His first album, named "Jerry Clower from Yazoo City Talkin'", sold over 8,000 copies without being advertised.
- Became a member of The Grand Ole Opry in 1973.
- Jerry Clower Blvd in Yazoo City, Mississippi is named in his honor.
- Received the national 4H Alumni Gold Key Award at ceremonies in Chicago, Illinois in 1976.
- Is a decon and a Lay Minister in the First Baptist Church, of Yazoo City Mississippi.
