Phil Cohen has joined Paramount Pictures’ Motion Picture Group as senior vp literary affairs.
The announcement was made Thursday by Daria Cercek and Michael Ireland, co-presidents of the studio’s Motion Picture Group. In the newly created role, Cohen, based in New York City, will mine the publishing world for books and other literary properties to option and adapt into movies for Paramount Pictures across its theatrical and streaming platforms.
He joins Paramount from Warner Bros. Entertainment where Cohen was a literary executive for five years, sourcing and developing books, comics, longform articles and podcasts for Warner Bros., New Line Cinema, Warner Bros. TV, and HBO Max.
His Warner Bros. acquisitions included Mickey7 by Edward Ashton, which is currently in production with Bong Joon ho writing and directing and Robert Pattinson starring. The book is published by St. Martin, an imprint of Macmillan.

The Hardy Boys will solve mysteries for a third and final season, to stream on Hulu in 2023. Additionally, Bailee Madison (Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin) has boarded the cast for that farewell run.

American Legion Post 107 and Hoboken Councilman Phil Cohen today announced that the Post’s nonprofit Veterans Center of Hoboken has received a generous grant of $100,000 from the Jbj Soul Foundation, founded by Jon Bon Jovi, as the Post creates new housing and supportive services to provide homeless veterans with a place of their own.
“We know that even one homeless veteran living on the streets is one too many,” said Commander John P. It's a new year and time to shake things up with regard to Troika Pictures' upcoming The Hive. Joel Schumacher, who was originally attached to direct the suspense thriller, has now been replaced by Brad Anderson (Transsiberian, Vanishing on 7th Street).
Per Variety Rich D'Ovidio (Exit Wounds) wrote the script, which follows a 911 operator who must face her own fears in order to save a teenage girl from a serial killer. Halle Berry was attached to star before she dropped out due to personal scheduling issues, and now several top actresses have expressed interest in the part.
Michael Helfant and Robert Stein will produce for Troika Pictures, whose Bradley Gallo will co-produce. Jeff Graup will also produce while Phil Cohen and William Gallo will exec produce. Sony Pictures Acquisitions is the domestic distributor, and Sierra/Affinity is handling foreign sales.
Production is slated for late spring.

Her intention was that by playing with the toy kitchen they would learn how to run a home. Frank Hornby patented Meccano in 1901 specifically to introduce boys to engineering and mechanics. This he did very successfully through Meccano, Dinky Cars, the Hornby Railway system and a young engineers club.
