- Youthful stage and screen actor of the 1910's and early 20's. Coleman began with the touring Cecil Spooner stock company and acted on Broadway in 1917. He had a minor career at Paramount in silent pictures and was briefly touted as a potential matinée idol. However, the box-office failure of the independently produced film "Salome" in 1923 (in which he played the part of Herod) damaged his career and he subsequently returned to the theatre.
