Scored the final two points for USA Basketball in the 1972 Olympic
Final against the Soviet Union on two free throws with three seconds
left. This was the infamous game in which the Soviets were given three
chances to score the winning basket. To this day, Collins and his
Olympics teammates have never accepted their silver medals from that
Olympics.
Head coach of the NBA's Chicago Bulls (1986-1989), Detroit Pistons (1995-1998), Washington Wizards (2001-2003), and Philadelphia 76ers (2010-2013).
Played his entire career with the Philadelphia 76ers from 1973-1974 to
1980-1981, averaging 17.9 points a game. Averaged a career-high 20.8 ppg
in 1975-1976.
