After appearing in two huge blockbusters in the form of Star Wars: The Force Awakens and X-Men: Apocalypse, it looks like Oscar Isaac is hoping to get back to some smaller scale stuff. Sure, he does have Star Wars: The Last Jedi releasing at the end of the year, but he’s also lent his talents to Annihilation and Suburbicon recently. The former sees him reteam with his Ex Machina director Alex Garland, while the latter has him working under George Clooney.

Bob Cooper and Richard Saperstein’s Los Angeles-based production company has unveiled details of its Second World War double agent thriller.
Isaac will portray Juan Pujol Garcia, a man who without any special training managed to persuade the Germans and the British to hire him as a spy and won gallantry medals from both sides.
in reality his allegiance lay with MI5 and through a fake network of agents Garcia helped the British fool the Germans about the June 1944 Normandy landings, a critical juncture in the war.
William Wheeler wrote the screenplay and Cooper, Saperstein, Chuck Weinstock, Jason Spire, and Isaac will produce.
“Juan Pujol Garcia is unlike any character we’ve seen on film – he’s a chameleon and a master manipulator, deeply haunted by his past, with an unreadable agenda… and his actions have world-changing consequences,” said Cooper, who is attending Berlin for the screening of Maudie and will discuss the project with buyers.

It’s a match made in stoner-heaven! Deadline reports that a live-action remake of Troma’s hilariously gruesome B-movie, The Toxic Avenger, is being developed at Bob Cooper and Richard Saperstein’s Storyscape Entertainment, with Sausage Party co-helmer Conrad Vernon on board to direct. Arnold Schwarzenegger was actually attached to star in an earlier incarnation, but has since walked away.
For those in need of a Toxie history lesson, the original was a 1984 horror comedy directed by Michael Herz and Lloyd Kaufman for Troma Entertainment. The story focused on a nerdy janitor named Melvin, who falls into a toxic waste drum and emerges as a hideously deformed, freakishly strong superhero. The film was virtually ignored upon its release, but has since become regarded as a cult classic, spawning several sequels, comic books and even a short-lived animated series.

As Netflix continues to assert itself as a major television company with such acclaimed series as House of Cards and Orange is the New Black, Amazon Studios is racing to catch up by ordering series it hopes will be equally well-received. So far, Amazon has scored one big hit in the form of Jeffrey Tambor-led dramedy Transparent, and it hopes to find some more in the new lineup of pilots, which will be made available for viewing as part of the company’s first pilot season of 2015.
Enclosed are descriptions of all seven pilots, courtesy of Deadline. The talented involved on all of them is impressive, to say the least. Mad Dogs comes from Cris Cole (The Bill) and Shawn Ryan (The Shield), while The Man In The High Castle hails from Frank Spotnitz (The X-Files). With popularity of Bible-themed projects showing no signs of subsiding, Fox has put in development Nazareth, an event series written/executive produced by David Franzoni (Gladiator) and executive produced by Bob Cooper. Nazareth is the first project under an overall deal for event series that Fox has signed with Cooper’s Landscape Entertainment. It follows the formative years of Jesus of Nazareth. There had been a lot of interest recently in Jesus’ so called “lost years,” a lesser known period in his life because there is very little written about him from the age of 13, following a pilgrimage to Jerusalem he took with his parents, to age 30, when he began his ministry and was baptized by John the Baptist. Lifetime in February started development on The One, a TV movie from Hatfields & McCoys producer Leslie Greif and writers Frank DeJohn and David Alton Hedges, which is described as a coming-of-age...

It wouldn’t be the first time a veteran helmer with a Hollywoodized filmography cracked the line-up and seeing that he directed mainstream titles such as Field of Dreams, Sneakers and The Sum of All Fears means Phil Alden Robinson’s name is far from what we think might be part of the final Park City equation. His sixth directorial outing, The Angriest Man in Brooklyn was lensed in NYC back in September of ’12, and padded with some shooting in L.A. at the beginning of this year. With Robin Williams, Mila Kunis, Melissa Leo, Peter Dinklage and James Earl Jones cast, we think there might be some just a little wiggle room for what would be considered a high value dramedy, regardless is Williams has another high profile indie title that we mention on our list and regardless if the Lionsgate folks just picked this up for a 2014 day & date release.
