This article contains spoilers for X-Men ‘97 episode 4.
X-Men ‘97 episode 4 “Motendo” brings back a familiar villain, Mojo (voiced by David Errigo Jr.). Per his usual M.O., Marvel’s weirdest baddie kidnaps a couple members of the X-family, transporting them to a dangerous world of entertainment where they have to fight for their lives for his amusement. This time, newcomer Sunspot (Gui Agustini) and Jubilee (Holly Chou) are the victims, and on the latter’s 18th birthday, no less.
Sunspot and Jubilee are forced inside a 16-bit video game which bears a striking resemblance to the classic X-Men game created for the Sega Genesis (which was perhaps the only other X-Men property which had a theme song that could rival the animated series), and when inside this digital nightmare, the two must fight their way out. Mojo throws everything he can at the young mutants, but along the way,...

Warming: this article contains spoilers for the "X-Men '97" episode "Motendo / Lifedeath, Part 1," so proceed with caution.
Since "X-Men '97" is a revival of "X-Men: The Animated Series," the creators of the nostalgic continuation of the Marvel mutants' story made sure to bring back as many of the original voice actors as they could. Sadly, both Norm Spencer (Cyclops) and David Hemblen (Magneto) passed away in 2020, making them unable to return, but Ray Chase and Matthew Waterson are doing fantastic jobs filling in their respective shoes. Meanwhile, Jennifer Hale replaces Catherine Disher as Jean Grey, Chris Potter switched from Gambit to Cable for "X-Men '97," with A.J. LoCascio taking over as the Ragin' Cajun, and Morph is now voiced J.P. Karliak.
But there was one voice actor from "X-Men: The Animated Series" who purposely opted not to reprise their role in order to allow someone else the opportunity that otherwise...

‘X-Men ’97’ premiered yesterday on Disney+ with its first two episodes, and initial reactions have been overwhelmingly positive. The show debuted with a perfect 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with critics hailing it as the “Best Marvel release in years.” Metacritic also awarded the show a high score of 82, signifying “Universal acclaim,” a rare achievement for recent Marvel Studios projects.
The series capitalizes on its biggest strength: being a direct continuation of ‘X-Men: The Animated Series.’ It strives to emulate the characters and animation of its predecessor while presenting a more mature and “raw” plot compared to typical Marvel fare.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Brad Winderbaum disclosed that Kevin Feige had two specific requirements before approving the show.
Alright, if we can get the [original] cast and we can get the song, let’s do it.’ And fortunately, we were able to do that.

‘X-Men ’97’ premiered yesterday with the two first episodes on Disney+ and the first reactions are amazing. The show premiered with 100 % on Rotten Tomatoes with the critics calling it “Best Marvel release in years’ Metacritic gave the show a high 82 score indicating that it earned “Universal acclaim” – a feat that is a rarity in the last few years when it comes to Marvel Studios projects.

Spring is now only a few weeks away, and this March at Disney+, a red rose is growing up out of ice frozen ground!
Probably the biggest title on the House of Mouse streamer’s calendar this month is the exclusive streaming premiere of “Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version),” the ground-breaking and record-setting concert film tracking Swift’s Eras Tour. The new “(Taylor’s Version)” edit will feature the concert film in its entirety for the first time, plus the song “cardigan” and four additional acoustic songs.
Also premiering this month, “X-Men: The Animated Series” gets a long overdue revival with the new animated series “X-Men '97,” featuring the returns of original cast members Ray Chase, Alison Sealy-Smith, Cal Dodd, Lenore Zann, George Buza, and more. Plus, the British historical adventure “Renegade Nell” finally gets its series premiere at the end of the month.

In 1992, an animated series called X-Men: The Animated Series debuted in the US. This was Marvel Comics’ second attempt at an animated X-Men series after the pilot series X-Men: Pryde of the X-Men was not revived for a second season. Unlike the latter, X-Men: The Animated Series gained critical acclaim, and had very high ratings for a Saturday morning cartoon series. The show reached a total of 23 million households.
The finale of the series, which was aired in 1997, saw the death of Professor Charles Xavier. This put the future of the X-Men into his students’ hands. At the time, Jean Grey had said fate lay in their hands. As fate would have it, the iconic Saturday morning cartoon series featuring its classic animation style is returning in a new show for 2024, and fans are hit by nostalgia as some relive their childhood memories through the trailer itself.

Professor Charles Xavier died in the 1997 series finale of “X-Men: The Animated Series.” As Jean Grey observed at the time, “Fate lies in our hands now.”
As fate would have it, Disney+ has revived the iconic Saturday morning cartoon — and its classic animation style — as a new series for 2024. The 10-episode “X-Men ’97” premieres March 20 on the streamer, and on Thursday, February 15, Disney+ treated us to the trailer.
Other than the addition of some new voice actors, not much has changed since the mid-90s. (The original “X-Men” ran from 1992-1997; “X-Men ’97” picks up shortly after the O.G. finale’s events.) The gang still travels in style via the X-Jet, Aka The Blackbird. Cyclops (now voiced by Ray Chase; he was previously voiced by Norm Spencer) is the mutant-team’s leader, and Wolverine (still Cal Dodd) is still getting under his skin. The torch from Professor X...

In a year of reduced Marvel output, there are still a lot of interesting comic book adaptations emerging in 2024 from both Sony and Marvel Studios. As it stands, Deadpool 3 is the only MCU film releasing in theaters this year, but the Sony side of Marvel has three movies heading to multiplexes, including Kraven the Hunter, which was previously set to make its debut in 2023.
MCU series Echo has already hit Disney+ in January, but here’s what you can expect to arrive in the rest of 2024.
Madame Web – February 14
The webs will be madaming extremely hard in 2024 as Sony returns to the Spider-Man-adjacent well to pluck out the first of two new gems. Will they be sparkly, box office-friendly Venom diamonds? Or will they be cubic zirconia Morbiuses? Only time will tell, but the first trailer for February’s Madame Web was leaning heavily towards Morbius, inspiring reams of...

For this month’s installment of “TV Terrors” we revisit the animated series adaptation of Tim Burton’s “Beetlejuice,“ which aired from 1989 to 1991 on ABC/Fox Network.
In the eighties and nineties, studios were never shy about taking mature intellectual properties and cashing in on them by giving them their own animated spinoffs for kids. Among the rather extensive list were direct G-rated adaptations like “Rambo,” “Conan,” “Ace Ventura,” and even “Police Academy.” One of the most notable, and more widely celebrated adaptations was of Tim Burton’s 1988 hit film Beetlejuice. While the original movie excelled in being as menacing, bizarre, and raunchy as possible, executive producers Tim Burton and David Geffen opted for a more kid friendly variation of the “Ghost with the Most” for the animated series.
Aimed more for the 8-12 Saturday morning cartoon demographic, the animated show thankfully stuck true to much of what made the movie so entertaining.

Getting a big break in the entertainment industry is something that every actor looks forward to. In reality, however, those breaks aren’t always what they’re cracked up to be. Time and time again, we’ve seen very talented people get major opportunities only to fade into obscurity after the project is done. That was the case with Alyson Court – or at least that’s what many people think. Court rose to fame during the 1990s when she was cast as Loonette on the popular children’s show The Big Comfy Couch. After parting ways with the show in 2003, Alyson seemingly disappeared

There's a whole micro-generation who aren't afraid of clowns. Why? Because they grew up watching The Big Comfy Couch. Every week, these '90s-born millennials crowded around the TV set—this was well before streaming, kids—to watch Loonette and Molly (that's a clown and her dolly) tackle life's greatest problems. Well, greatest problems being those annoying dust bunnies and that damn clock stretch being near impossible to complete at home. That undeniably flexible superhuman was Canadian actress Alyson Court, who did a helluva lot more than just chat with Major Bedhead in Granny Garbanzo's garden. As it turns out, the woman underneath Loonette's curly-haired...

Cal Dodd, Lenore Zann, George Buza, Adrian Hough, Christopher Britton, Catherine Disher, Chris Potter, Alison Sealy-Smith, and Alyson Court are among the stars returning from the original series. Joining them in the voice cast are Jennifer Hale, Anniwaa Buachie, Ray Chase, Matthew Waterson, Jp Karliak, Holly Chou, Jeff Bennett, and Aj LoCascio. Following the massive success of this year’s Resident Evil 2 remake, it’s no wonder that Capcom is open to revisiting some of its other classics and dusting off various intellectual properties. With that in mind, fans have already begun pondering the possibilities of modernized versions of the first Dino Crisis and Devil May Cry games, in addition to several others.
To be quite honest, I believe Resident Evil 3: Nemesis to be next on the company’s agenda, as that’s already said to be in development. But after that, I do think there’s a good possibility a Code: Veronica remake could follow. After all, there’s already been much demand for it online, so why not give the people what they want?
Should Capcom indeed want to revisit Code: Veronica somewhere down the line, voice actress Stephanie Panisello is apparently down for reprising her Claire Redfield role.

Admittedly, I have an unjustifiable level of love for this cartoon. It wasn’t the best of its time, nor did it always make sense the way the episodes were arranged with no respect to an overarching timeline, but it was fun. It has sappy one-liners from Wolverine and Gambit; it cements Cyclops as the dickish leader; and it lets many of the great villains from the X-Men universe get a moment in the spotlight. Sure, it was inferior to Bruce Timm’s spectacular Batman: The Animated Series, but what cartoon of that era wasn’t? Despite its chronological shortcomings, the series as a whole maintained a superb visual aesthetic, great characterization, and interesting plots – at least until the end of the season. Just like Batman, which changed its name to The Adventures of Batman & Robin and altered its awesome opening sequence, some studio exec decided the X-Men series needed...

Usually we see animated cartoons as a separate entity from live-action movies, or else they spawn a major movie event or franchise. This would be the case with G.I. Joe, which opens this Friday, August 7 in theaters nationwide. However, there are a select number of memorable animated television series that were based on a live-action movie. Having broke the mold in that sense, we decided to come up with our list of the Top Ten Animated Series Based on a Movie. Each of these animated series garnered various levels of success and popularity from various eras on TV nostalgia.
