Following on from the news that Manchester United are willing to pay the £30million fee needed to activate Ander Herrera’s release clause from Athletico Bilbao, and that Newcastle’s Yohan Cabaye was put off a potential move to Arsenal when he was called a “reserve” in negotiations, it seems the Red Devils are keen on further bolstering their midfield options today.
According to SportsDirectNews, United will make a bid for Yohan Cabaye in an effort to add to their midfield options before the transfer window closes. They say Cabaye is still keen to leave the North East after attracting well-publicised interest from Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain, and with Mesut Ozil and Juan Mata in the frame to join those teams respectively according to reports, the path might be clear for Cabaye to move to the North West.

Update: Sky Sports News’ North East reporter David Craig claims that Danny Graham’s representatives have “ruled out” the Swansea City striker joining Middlesbrough in this transfer window.
Reading between the lines, although not stated by Craig, it sounds like Graham has turned down a move to the Riverside. Teamtalk now report the same.
Craig also said;
“No deal between Sunderland and Swansea over Graham has yet to be agreed”
Newcastle Chronicle writer Lee Ryder tweeted earlier that Danny Graham is keen to join his boyhood heroes Newcastle United but The Magpies don’t wish to meet Swansea’s current valuation.
Lee Ryder @lee_ryder Danny Graham has been desperate for a move to #nufc . Wherever he ends up is secondary choice. Nufc don’t see value at £5 million upwards.

Australian filmmaker Kimble Rendall is set to direct $25 million local action-thriller Blowback.
The story, penned by filmmaker Brian Trenchard-Smith, follows ex-Special Forces Op, David Craig, as he takes his 15 year-old daughter Marcy to Sydney to show her where he met and fell in love with her late mother. When Marcy is mistakenly abducted Craig is given 72 hours to get her back in once piece.
Blowback, which is being co-produced by Gfm Films and local producer Antony I. Ginnane, will be filmed in Sydney in 2013. Gfm was founded in March 2011 by former Handmade Films principals Guy Collins, Fred Hedman and Michael Ryan.
In a statement announcing the film, Collins said: "Mike Ryan and I have known Tony for many years and between us have worked successfully on six movies, the last being the Peter Weller sci-fi Screamers released by Triumph Films for Sony. Tony introduced the script to us at the...

There really aren’t that many things in this world that are better than YouTube phenomenon Drew Droege doing an “impression” of Chloe Sevigny that is both accurate and inaccurate. It’s hard to really separate what is a Chloe-ism and what is a Drew-ism, so to speak, when you watch the guy dress up as the indie starlet, but no matter: you’ll still watch the whole damn thing. It seems as if the faux-ie Chloe has spurned another like-minded dude-as-a-lady thing. This time, there’s a boy named David Craig who — like Droege — kinda dresses up to play Martha Plimpton, another indie gem who, even on Raising Hope, somehow evades the mainstream garbage like a pro. Dude not only nails it, but he has finally allowed for “Chloe” and “Martha” to meet, and it is glorious. Takeaway line: “Who’s the boss now?”...

As our last thrilling episode ended in June, we had left poor, helpless, hapless Hollywood tied to railroad tracks with the July/August Express out of Union Station barreling down, dastardly Audience Disinterest at the throttle, henchman Audience Apathy throwing on more coal.
But wait! Are those cavalry bugles heard from just over the hill?
Yes! Coming to the rescue, led by our hero Captain Overseas Markets and his sidekick Ancillary Sales!
And just in the nick of time, too!
Seriously. Because I doubt there’s been a Monday’s reading of weekend box office tallies by studio execs this year which hasn’t been accompanied by a silent prayer of thanks for overseas receipts.
Over the last 20-30 years or so, it hasn’t been unusual for top-earning releases – particularly action-driven fare – to pull in more revenue overseas than at home, but recent years have seen the dynamic ratchet up to a dizzying level.

Newcastle United have today taken the relatively unprecedented step of releasing a statement concerning their dealings in the transfer window, in an attempt to appease those fans left frustrated by the inability of the recruitment team (which probably doesn’t include manager Alan Pardew – no matter how much of the flack he gets) to bring in a striker to fill the void left by Andy Carroll’s sale to Liverpool back in January.
The statement, released on the club’s official site reads as follows:
A statement from Newcastle United Managing Director Derek Llambias
Now that the transfer window has closed, we have had some time to reflect on the business we have conducted over the summer.
Our aim was to secure young players who represented value for money and could add real strength to the squad. The majority of our transfer dealings were completed in the early part of...

Best-selling author of techno-thrillers whose 1977 blockbuster was made into a film
Craig Thomas, who has died from pneumonia aged 68, was at the forefront of the spy/adventure genre known as the techno-thriller, novels in which technology – usually cutting-edge military hardware extrapolated from current technological advances – is central to the plot. Thomas's 1977 novel Firefox featured the fictional MiG-31, an aircraft so advanced that it would immediately give the Russians the upper hand.
At the time, the Russians had the MiG-25 Foxbat, the fastest reconnaissance bomber and interceptor in the air, with a top speed of Mach 2.8. Thomas's Firefox could achieve speeds of Mach 5, had stealth technology which made it invisible to radar and a guided missile system controlled by the pilot by thought alone. Realising the implications to security in the west, his British spymaster Kenneth Aubrey suggests an audacious plan to steal one of the two prototype aircraft.

Unfortunately, David Craig wearing drag for International Women’s Day isn’t an ad for The Best James Bond Film Ever Made. What would that movie be called anyway? The Lady Spy Who Loved Me? The Living Highlights? Live And Let Diane? In reality it’s a promo for Equals, a group of organizations supporting International Women’s Day on March 8. “For someone with such a fondness for women, I wonder if you’ve ever considered what it’s like to be one,” Judi Dench playing M intones, after reciting a devastating list of inequalities between the sexes. The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo star proceeds to saunter out in a wrap dress and sensible heels, and let’s be honest. He has an enviable figure.
Wigs off to Craig for being man enough to wear fake bosoms, but we’re not exactly sure where the Bond part comes in.

David Fincher’s remake of “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” is already in full swing over in Sweden, and images are already coming out from the set. Here’s the latest, showing off star Rooney Mara (playing the titular girl with the dragon tattoo and mad hacking skills) looking appropriately anti-social and “dark” for her role of outcast Lisbeth Salander in the crime thriller. I am assuming, of course, that the remake will keep all the same character names, since Fincher has gone to great lengths to keep everything exactly like the original movie except, er, with different people in the roles, and shooting the whole thing in English. Which continues to make absolutely no sense to me, but whatever, I’m not nearly as brilliant as David Fincher. David Craig co-stars as crusading reporter Mikael Blomkvist, who we haven’t seen on set yet, but that should be forthcoming.
