Was originally called "Diamond" Darrell when Pantera was a glam-metal
band.
Five people died in the Columbus, Ohio rampage. That included Darrell,
one fan present at the concert, an employee of the concert hall, one of
Darrell's bodyguards, and the attacker himself, who was shot by a
police officer present at the club.
Both Dimebag Darrell and John Lennon were shot and killed on the same
day. (December 8th).
Wanted to become a filmmaker.
Ace Frehley of KISS was his idol, so much so that Darrell got a tattoo of him on his chest. When he got to meet Frehley during a photo shoot for Guitar World magazine, Darrell asked Ace to autograph the tattoo. Immediately after the photo shoot was over, Darrell went to the nearest tattoo shop and had them make the autograph permanent.
