- The name "Baba Booey" came from an argument with Howard Stern over the cartoon character name "Baba Looie", a donkey in a sombrero from the "Quick Draw McGraw" cartoon. Gary insisted that the correct name was Booey not Looie, and so, the joke (and nickname) began. The nickname Baba Boey would, with the help of voice-overs by once Howard Stern regular Billy West, morph into Fa Fa Foey, Fla Fla Floley, Fa Fa Foe Foe (pause) Foey, among others.
- On 5/8/ 02 he won the Bally's Fitness Challenge on the Howard Stern radio show. Went from over 208 lbnm0111444.s to 172 lbs. during the month-long contest, beating out co-workers Benjy Bronk, Mike Gange and Artie Lange. He had the greatest percentage weight-loss of the group, though Benjy lost more pounds in total. The prize was $15,000.
