Won two Tony Awards as Best Costume Designer: in 1958 for "The First
Gentleman" from a nomination shared with "Look Back in Anger," "Look
Homeward, Angel," "Shinbone Alley" and "The Country Wife;" and again in
1961 for "Becket." He was also Tony-nominated in the same category
three other times: in 1962 for "Kwamina," in 1963 for "Mother Courage
and Her Children," and in 1965 for "Baker Street."
