Wow. Just wow.
It's not often that a television show leaves me speechless, but Law & Order: Svu Season 20 Episode 14 did just that.
This was one of the most intense hours of television I've ever seen, culminating in a non-ending that left viewers hanging while somehow being incredibly satisfying. Kudos to Svu for pulling that off!
It was a different kind of Svu.
Instead of the cops fighting with Stone in real-time, they fought with each other after Stone had already decided to prosecute.
Many of the scenes in the witness room were so powerful that I was afraid that if I stopped to process one bit of dialogue, I'd miss something equally amazing.
The hour sped by while Benson grappled not with the mystery of who did something horrific to the latest victim but with what she was supposed to do once she got on the stand.
This time there...

No one loves a great scene more than the person who first dreamed it up -- the writer. We're asking iconic shows' creators and writers to tell Et all about getting to see their most cherished moment on their series make it from script to screen.
On Wednesday, Feb. 8, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit will reach a major TV milestone when it airs its 400th episode, a feat only previously achieved by eight scripted series over the past four decades. While a lot of credit for the show’s success and stamina is given to the cast led by Mariska Hargitay, who has won an Emmy for playing Det. Olivia Benson, it’s hard to ignore the writing, which has earned several Edgar Allen Poe Award nominations over the course of its run.

Mid-season openers are often hit-or-miss. It can take a while to get back into a show and to remember what you loved about it.
Not so with Law & Order: Svu Season 18 Episode 7, which offered pathos, tension, and a serious real-life issue treated with the gravity it deserves without being depressing.
I have to admit that this was one of the rare cases where the actual episode was much better than the preview, which showed only Carisi being held at gunpoint by a perp. The cop in danger trope has been used an awful lot on Svu recently and yet another cop-taken-hostage situation didn't sound all that appealing.
That part of the story actually only took about 10 minutes, and they were tense, gripping, and inevitable once the plot unfolded.
The actual story was about a girl, Quinn, who was stalked by multiple men, raped, and eventually taken hostage and almost killed.

Law & Order: Svu ended season 17 with a bang. For the first time ever—yes, this hasn't happened in 17 seasons—Svu killed off a main character, a member of the Special Victims Unit. Andy Karl's Sgt. Mike Dodds met his maker after a hostage showdown with Brad Garrett's nefarious corrections officer character. Karl, who joined the series earlier this season in the 2015 episode "Maternal Instincts," is heading to London for a musical. His character's death comes after viewers learned Dodds was moving on to the Joint Terrorism Task Force and more about his home life. "This it is for me," he told E! News on set of the finale in April. "I said goodbye this morning, to...
