“I grew up with LEGOs, so that was my favorite Christmas present every year,” declares director Rich Kim of “Lego Masters” on Fox. “Back then we didn’t have a lot of money so that was the big present I would get every Christmas. I grew up with the early spaceships and castles and all those early sets. My mother was a music teacher and she always felt that Lego was really good for my hand-eye coordination.” Watch the exclusive video interview above.

The Regency-era-inspired reality dating competition “The Courtship” has moved from NBC to USA Network, where it will air Wednesday nights at 11 p.m., after “Temptation Island,” NBC confirmed to TheWrap.
The decision was made after the series’ lackluster debut in the 8 p.m. slot on March 6 and its even worse performance the following week, where it lost 37% of the premiere’s 990,000 viewers. Newcomers can catch up with the series from the beginning as it will re-air the first episode this week, followed by Episodes 2 and 3 next week and Episode 4 the following week.
NBC did not have a comment about the move, but the disappointing ratings and the ability to slot it next to an already established reality series likely played a part in the network’s decision.
The first two episodes are available now on Peacock and new episodes will be added to the streamer the day after they air on USA Network.

The Courtship is ending its date with NBC.
The reality dating format has been pulled from the NBC lineup and moved to USA Network.
It comes as the series struggled to find an audience on linear television with its premiere scoring a 0.2 and 0.92M viewers with its second episode dropping to a 0.1 with 0.59M viewers.
It was in a tough Sunday slot without much lead-in and the hope is that pairing it behind Temptation Island on USA Network will drive more reality TV eyeballs to the series.
The series, which was formerly known as Pride & Prejudice: An Experiment in Romance, was originally ordered by Peacock but was moved to the linear network last month.
It debuted on Sunday March 6 at 8pm. This Sunday, March 20, NBC will replace it with an original episode of The Weakest Link, followed by an Adele special at 9pm. On March 27, a recap of American...

“Lego Masters” returns for a second season on Tuesday with a new crop of contestants that once again live up to the show’s title — and perhaps even more so than last year. Season 1 featured impressive builds from some incredibly creative minds — but according to executive producers Anthony Dominici and Michael Heyerman, many of the nation’s most talented Lego builders weren’t ready to compete back then.
Cut to Season 2: Now that they’ve seen the show and verified how legit “Lego Masters” is, everyone wants in. “I would say that we found a lot of the builders that we cast this season were probably the ones who were a little nervous about joining a first season show,” Dominici says. “They didn’t know what the sort of tone of the show would be. A lot of our builders this season were big fans of the first season.

Fox has locked “Lego Masters” for a second season. The competition series, hosted by Will Arnett, has already been casting and will shoot in the spring for an airdate sometime in 2021.
A pickup has been expected for months, particularly after Fox CEO Lachlan Murdoch revealed that preparation had begun on Season 2 during an investor earnings call in May. But negotiations with Endemol Shine North America, which produces the show, took longer than expected as both sides ironed out license fees.
“Lego Masters” was a hit for Fox last season, ending the year as broadcast TV’s No. 1 new entertainment program among adults 18-49 and No. 1 new reality series in total viewers, averaging 9.7 million across all platforms. Fox also touted the show’s draw for co-viewing, as adults and their children watched together.

Serendipitously timed to a moment when many parents are stuck at home and in constant search of things to keep their kids entertained, “Lego Masters” has proven to be a bright spot for dark times, showcasing skill and passion and creativity in a family-friendly competition show package.
And that’s exactly how it was always intended, even before a global coronavirus pandemic made that more necessary than ever, says executive producer Anthony Dominici. It’s a show meant to bring families together and keep them entertained — maybe even inspire a little creativity along the way.
“I think people are always looking for something they can watch with their kids whether there’s a pandemic or not, but especially now, people are looking for ways to entertain themselves, have kids work on projects and stuff like that, and this show is actually kind of perfect for all of that,” Dominici said in an interview with TheWrap.

Lego building deals in minutiae: The individual bricks and other design pieces used to create works of art or pieces of play are physically small and often required to be stacked on top of each other by the dozen in intricate architecture to resemble anything from a structure to a vehicle to an animal. It requires discipline, focus, a good sense of time management and a lot of creativity. A final product is always a feat of art and engineering, combining innovation with functionality in a way that can be fun for the whole family to enjoy. And, despite positioning builders against each other, that is the exact vibe “Lego Masters” sets out to capture.
“It’s about imagination, it’s about art, it’s about aspiration,” says Sharon Levy, president, unscripted/scripted programming, Endemol Shine North America. “I have experienced firsthand as a parent what Lego actually means to kids’ brains.
