"We get our fair share of non-believers, but sooner or later they come to realize the truth. Rlje Films has debuted the official trailer for an alien abduction, sci-fi mystery/thriller film titled Beyond The Sky, which is getting a release next month. While shooting a documentary to expose the lies of alien abductees, a provocative filmmaker and his crew encounter a young woman with a dark secret who leads them to uncover a disturbing truth. The film has gone under a few other titles, including Encounter and False Memory Syndrome, but will be released as Beyond The Sky. Travis Walton, author of the memoir "Fire in the Sky" about his own alien abduction experience (which was turned into that horrifying 1993 film Fire in the Sky), served as a consultant and has a cameo in the film. Beyond The Sky stars Ryan Carnes, Jordan Hinson, Claude Duhamel, Martin Sensmeier, Don Stark,...

"Let's get away from the city... It's miles away from everything." Lionsgate has released the official trailer for a thriller titled Traffik, the latest from writer/director Deon Taylor. The film stars Paula Patton and Omar Epps as a couple who set off for a retreat in the mountains, but are accosted by a biker gang, who then go after them once they reach their isolated vacation rental home. The full cast includes Laz Alonso, Roselyn Sanchez, Luke Goss, Dawn Olivieri, Claude Duhamel, and Lorin McCraley. It looks like your standard angry-white-people-home-invasion thriller, where the nice people have to fight back to save themselves. I'd rather go see Breaking In, which looks like a much better twist on this concept. Have a look. Here's the first official trailer (+ official poster) for Deon Taylor's Traffik, direct from YouTube: A couple (Paula Patton, Omar Epps) off for a romantic weekend in...

Hard to believe, but December is nearly upon us, and that means we have a brand new batch of Digital and VOD releases to look forward to over the next few weeks. And for those of you looking to indulge in some non-holiday cinematic delights next month, there seems to be quite a variety of films hitting VOD and other digital platforms to keep you cozy inside your home, away from the brutality of winter and its harsh elements.
December’s releases kick off on the 1st with Somebody’s Darling, and December 5th is one of the busiest days of the month with six different titles making their digital bow: The Gatehouse, The Doll Master, Apocalypse Road, Flashburn, K-shop, and The White King. Then, just a few days later, IFC Midnight is releasing the psychological thriller Kaleidoscope, and on December 12th, both The Cutlass and Flatliners (2017) come home.

"Dad said you should never go off trail." IFC Midnight has unveiled an official trailer for a horror thriller titled Desolation, the feature directorial debut of filmmaker Sam Patton. This first premiered at the Los Angeles Film Festival, but hasn't played at too many other festivals. In Desolation, a young mother, her best friend and son venture into the wilderness for a camping trip only to find themselves the hunted prey in a deranged killer’s terrifying game. The cast includes Jaimi Paige, Alyshia Ochse, Claude Duhamel, and Toby Nichols. This looks like an interesting horror thriller, but I'm pretty sure I've already figured out the twist. Though I guess I don't really know. The sunglasses dude doesn't seem that creepy, but that's just me. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Sam Patton's Desolation, direct from IFC's YouTube: A young mother (Jaimi Paige) takes her son and her...

The film industry pumps out a lot of trash here and there. Attempts to make tons of money often blinds filmmakers and executives and the “art” that they think they’re selling is actually worthless crap that no one will enjoy. Chasing Happiness is a prime example of this sad and tired practice. The story, acting and camerawork are all terrible. It feels like a softcore porno film but with only one sex scene and way too much terrible acting.
The story follows four lost souls who all live in a beautiful house. They each work different jobs to pay their share of the rent. There is Jen (Elisa Donovan), a cold, no nonsense madam who manages and operates a “sex therapy” practice. The “sex therapist” is Rapheal (Claude Duhamel) and he is basically a gigolo who performs “therapy” on unhappy and misguided women. Karina (Kashmira Shah) also lives in...

At CinemaSpy we get screeners of early episodes of new television series to review. It's particularly satisfying when you get through a batch and want to see more of a show. So it was with The Line, a 15-episode Canadian-made cop drama that is currently airing on The Movie Network, Movie Central and HBO Canada.
The Line is essentially a soap opera that focuses on two dysfunctional detectives, Max (Ron White) and Donny (Daniel Kash), and the people whose lives they touch. Both men have messed-up love lives and their complicated personal relationships interweave with other elements of The Line's plot to produce a tangled, ongoing story that is atypical of conventional police procedural shows.
Max lives with his wife Karen (Yanna McIntosh) but their relationship is crumbling under the weight of their ethnic differences. Hence, he regularly has sex with burned-out legal aid lawyer Jayne Huxley (Sharon Lawrence...
