"When the sons of the fallen came upon the daughters of men they bore the way of the wicked." An opening gambit that reads infinitely more interesting than the tagline for Kevin Carraway's latest low-budget horror movie. 'Evil Never Dies', anyone? Is that a fact? Well, as the filmmakers so eloquently put it, evil never dies but film careers do. Remember when Christian Slater was the epitome of cool? Now he's playing heroic priests in inexplicably dull horror movies. Remember when Vinnie Jones had the world at his feet? Ok, so that's a bit of a stretch, but Vinnie Jones stars alongside Slater in the straight-to-dvd feature that riffs on The Omen and Carrie. Here's a twist for you. Christian Slater plays a holier than thou priest and Vinnie Jones plays the part of a doting father. He's still a cop of course but the role of...

Sometimes you see actors turn up in movies and you just know what to expect. I find though that to be fair to the film I look to be pleasantly surprised, and sometimes I even am…but this tends to be rare. Way of the Wicked stars Christian Slater and Vinnie Jones and for fans of bad movies I don’t really need to say much more than that do I?
When Robbie (Jake Croker) returns to the town where he was once implicated in the death of a classmate it’s not long before another student dies. Detective John Elliot (Vinnie Jones) begins to suspect Robbie as being to blame, especially when...

In the new supernatural horror movie Way of the Wicked, Christian Slater lives up to his first name and plays a man of God. But he’s not without his flaws. As director Kevin Carraway told us, “It was definitely different for me to see Christian play that kind of dark person. He is such a fantastic actor that I knew he would bring that character to life."
" Even on set, watching some of the decisions he made, he is such a professional. I can totally understand why he has had such longevity in this business and I would love to work with him again in the future.”
Carraway said there was no ego, not even with the press mobbing him the moment he stepped onto set. “When he first showed up, reporters wanted to interview Christian. The energy on the set was amazing. He would go around and speak with everyone.

It's a sure bet that no other guest co-host of "The Talk" this week can match the story Susan Koeppen has.
The weekday CBS program started welcoming personalities from network-owned affiliates across the country with weathercaster John Elliott of New York's Wcbs-tv on Monday (June 25). Formerly CBS News' consumer reporter, Emmy winner Koeppen now is an evening news anchor for Pittsburgh's Kdka-tv, and she appears on "The Talk" Tuesday -- discussing how she almost died last fall.
"They asked for the stories the station did on my cardiac arrest," Koeppen tells Zap2it about her collapse while jogging in November in the Pittsburgh area, not long after she ran a 5K race. One of her fellow joggers was a physician, and two medical students passing by helped administer CPR to her until Ems technicians arrived with a defibrillator.
"When it first happened," Koeppen reflects, "I never cried, I never had any emotion about it,...

Trailers are an under-appreciated art form insofar that many times they’re seen as vehicles for showing footage, explaining films away, or showing their hand about what moviegoers can expect. Foreign, domestic, independent, big budget: I celebrate all levels of trailers and hopefully this column will satisfactorily give you a baseline of what beta wave I’m operating on, because what better way to hone your skills as a thoughtful moviegoer than by deconstructing these little pieces of advertising? Some of the best authors will tell you that writing a short story is a lot harder than writing a long one, that you have to weigh every sentence. What better medium to see how this theory plays itself out beyond that than with movie trailers? Love Life Trailer A few weeks ago I talked about a trailer called New Kids Turbo. I received a good amount of e-mail letting me...

Cannes -- Canuck sales outfit ID Communications has sold all U.S. rights, excluding theatrical, for the Western "Ecstasy of Gold" to Grindstone Entertainment.
Lionsgate Home Entertainment will handle the domestic DVD bow of the title, which stars John Elliot as a gun slinging bounty hunter. ID retains U.S. theatrical rights and is planning a platform release, most likely as a digital bow in selected theaters across North America.

This week we can immerse ourselves in tales of American sentiment, French fantasy, English history, Italian romance and alien invasion.
"Avatar"
After more than a decade on hiatus, James Cameron returns from his days as "King of the World" with a mind on conquering a few new ones in this sci-fi epic that the director maintains will alter the face of moviemaking forever. (Early reviews seem to agree.) A galaxy away from Cameron's days as a miniature maker on Roger Corman's "Battle Beyond the Stars," "Avatar" blends performance capture technology with real world photography to create Pandora, where a troubled U.S. marine (Sam Worthington) is tasked with infiltrating the Na'vi, a tribe of primitive but proud aliens, via a genetically created body, though he finds his loyalties torn when he falls in love with one of their own (Zoe Saldana). The film's reported $300 million price tag is surely...
