Perhaps the greatest Spanish composer of the twentieth century. He
wrote many works, and among them are what are considered to be four of
the greatest masterpieces of Spanish classical music-- the opera "La
Vida Breve [The Short Life]", the ballets "El Sombrero de Tres Picos
[The Three-Cornered Hat]" and "El Amor Brujo [Love, The Sorcerer]", and
"Noches en los Jardines de España [Nights in the Gardens of Spain]", a
work for piano and orchestra. Nearly all of his works are rather short,
most of them lasting no longer than forty minutes or one hour in
length, except for his full-length unfinished cantata
"Atlantida".
