Rob Thomas’ 24-year marriage to his wife is definitely the real deal.
The Matchbox Twenty frontman, along with bandmate Paul John Doucette, recently sat down with Et Canada’s Morgan Hoffman to discuss their new album Where The Light Goes. Thomas also opened up about the secret to his long-time marriage to wife Marisol Maldonado.
Thomas began by stating when he was 20 and writing about love and loss, he “had never really lost anything,” and was writing with “a romanticized version of everything” in his mind.

“I’ve been married for 24 years now. I have an understanding of, like, even if I’m writing about loss, I’m writing about, like, what it would feel like to lose this thing that means so much to me, you know? And children. Oh, God,” remarked the Grammy winner.

Rolling Stone‘s interview series King for a Day features long-form conversations between senior writer Andy Greene and singers who had the difficult job of fronting major rock bands after the departure of an iconic vocalist. Some of them stayed in their bands for years, while others lasted just a few months. In the end, however, they all found out that replacement singers can themselves be replaced. This edition features former Inxs singer J.D. Fortune.

Here’s an Australian project that has potential to draw some interest in the television scene down under. In December, it was reported that Australian network Seven had commissioned production company Shine to make “Never Tear Us Apart,” a miniseries based on the '80s rock band Inxs. Now, the lead role of late frontman Michael Hutchence has been cast -- Luke Arnold will play the troubled singer. Arnold has had a career in his native Australia, but will be seen by U.S. audiences for the first time in the upcoming Michael Bay pirate series “Black Sails” as a young Long John Silver. Inxs apparently has a saga to be told, with the relationship between Hutchence and bandmate Andrew Farriss being at the center of the story. The four-hour, two-part miniseries will reportedly chart the band’s rise to the top, a terrible motorcycle accident involving Hutchence, and his...

Don Groves is a Deadline contributor based in Sydney. Exclusive: While two Australian producers are developing biopics of Inxs and the band’s late frontman Michael Hutchence, a TV miniseries may just steal their thunder. The Seven Network has commissioned Shine Australia to produce Never Tear Us Apart: The Inxs Story, a four-hour saga. The project hasn’t been formally announced but Deadline has learned shooting is due to start in Melbourne in mid-2013 and the producers have started searching for actors in their late teens or early 20s to play Hutchence (who died in a Sydney hotel room in 1997), and fellow band members, brothers Jon, Tim and Andrew Farriss, Kirk Pengilly and Gary Beers, plus their manager Chris Murphy. The miniseries may be finished and ready to air before either of the films is in the can. Producers Trevor Ray Field and Suzy Markovski and screenwriter/executive producer Robert...

Three years since their last effort, Bloc Party is back in the studio working on a new album. But their frontman, Kele Okereke, couldn't tell you how it's coming. He's too busy wondering whether he's been fired.
Okereke told NME he hopes he "hasn't been fired" after catching his band together without him in New York:
I was actually having lunch about three weeks ago, just here on 8th Avenue and I saw somebody walk past and I recognised the haircut. It was Russell. I was like, 'Hey!' but he didn't see me and I followed him around the corner and then I saw Matt, Gordon and Russell all standing outside this rehearsal space. They all went inside.
Perhaps the band hasn't gotten over Okereke leaving them to pursue his solo career. He released his first album, Boxer, under the name Kele in June of 2010, to generally positive reviews.

On September 24, Nirvana's epochal Nevermind turns 20 ... a milestone that's not only given us pause (since it's downright unfathomable to anyone who came of age during that era) but has caused us to reflect on what, in retrospect, was a pretty staggeringly great year for rock music in general.
Because, while Nevermind gets the majority of the headlines, there were no shortage of other iconic albums released that year, too ... a fact we illustrated last week, when we shone the spotlight on some of '91's greatest; everything from alt-rock tent poles like the Red Hot Chili Peppers' Blood Sugar Sex Magik and Pearl Jam's Ten to big-budget blockbusters like Metallica's Black album and Guns N' Roses' Use Your Illusion series and overlooked indie gems like Fugazi's Steady Diet of Nothing and Slint's Spiderland.
In a lot of ways, it seems like 1991 was the last year rock truly rocked.

For our landmark 200th weblog post, Mr. Lee Keeler from Classy Hands sent us over this essay. Hope you enjoy!
Lee Keeler: Top Ten Movies Of All Time
that are action movies you actually enjoy but you can tell her they’re dramas and get away with it
10.) Memento (2000) - Before Christopher Nolan was bending our minds with Inception and refurbishing the super-hero franchise model, he blew up with a simple concept: A literally backwards movie. Genius casting of Joey Pants and Stephen Tobolowsky in supporting roles.
Dude Factor: Guy Pearce is hunting down his wife’s killer to put a bullet in his head.
What you can tell her: The story of a man haunted by chronic short-term memory trying to avenge the murder of his wife.
9.) Three Kings (1999) - David O. Russell takes himself too seriously, and most of his movies tend to be Oscar failures rather than just fun movies.
