John Galsworthy

Won Nobel Prize for Literature in 1932.
He allegedly declined knighthood but was awarded the O.M. (Order of Merit) in the 1929 King's Birthday Honours List for his services to literature.
His writing was influenced by
Ivan Turgenev
and by

, whom he befriended.
Studied law and was called to the bar in 1890, but did not practice.
