WhatCulture.com has learned that a source high-up inside WWE recently let slip the names of five candidates who have been discussed for this year’s Hall of Fame.
While these can only be treated as rumour until confirmed by WWE – and with anything in wrestling able to change at any time – our understanding is that all of the names below are virtually a lock for a spot to join the already announced Sting in this year’s class.
A couple are a surprise, while others were expected and long overdue. Some are relevant to the state of Texas – the host state of WrestleMania – be it for their history competing in the area or having been raised there.
But it is our understanding the following names will be inducted this year…

The Fabulous Freebirds are considered a lock to be WWE Hall of Famers in 2016, according to a report from PWInsider. The group consisted of Michael Hayes as the leader along with Terry Gordy and Buddy Roberts with Jimmy Garvin also an ally of the trio.
With next year’s WrestleMania taking place in the Dallas, Texas area, it makes sense to induct the Freebirds there since they were among the biggest stars in the Texas area in the 1980s, often feuding with the Von Erich family. Steve Austin speaks fondly about wanting to be a wrestler because of that feud.
The group’s name came from the Lynyrd Skynyrd song “Free Bird” and they were introduced as residing in Badstreet, USA. WWE is currently using the “Freebird Rule” with The New Day as Tag Team Champions because that means that any two of the three guys can compete...

“Talent is not sexually transmitted.” – Aj Lee
With that one line, Aj Lee set off a firestorm of controversy and finally gave the WWE divas an angle worth talking about. Directed at The Bella Twins, the shot was so on the bone that many fans assumed she had gone off script and would soon be facing some backstage heat over the comments. Nikki Bella responded with a personal attack of her own in the form of a promo that was heavily edited before it aired on SmackDown, and there definitely seemed to be some bad blood between the two women.
But let’s talk about the merits of the insult.
Was Aj right in saying that wrestling talent isn’t sexually transmitted… or to put it another way… that one part of a wrestling couple’s success and attributes can’t be contagious to the other?
Of course,...

There was once a time wherein all professional wrestlers were enigmatic and reclusive (to some degree) because that was the nature of the wrestling business. The marks were marks and the boys (and girls) were the boys, and it was actually frowned upon to be overly friendly with those in the non-wrestling outside world while still in the guise of doing pro wrestling business. Fast forward to 2014 and a list like this exists, which on some level highlights those who, in the modern era do something that wrestlers in previous generations all did not because they wanted to, but because it was almost a requirement of the industry itself.
On this list there are legends who left the business behind out of distaste for it, their reclusive nature an attempt to leave an angered past behind. Yet still there are others who are just “old school,” and see “fraternizing with...

As fans we’ve seen wrestling go to some extreme measures that led to some epic encounters over the years. From Hell in a Cell to Last Man Standing, there have been many stipulations over the years that push the boundaries of brutality and the human anatomy. But there was only one match that went beyond… The War Games.
No matter where it was placed in schedule, the signature two cage spectacular was always the big draw for WCW. Strange alliances would be made and WrestleWars along with fall brawls would be forged in a team battleground of steel and blood . No Pinfalls. No Disqualifications. It’s just Submission or Surrender.
In the latest WWE DVD release: “War Games: WCW’s Most Notorious Matches” they look back at what happens when there are no other options and wrestling has go to war. I have to admit I was very...
