TV viewers have complained about the return of Mrs Brown’s Boys in the New Year.
The divisive series stars Brendan O’Carroll as Agnes Brown, a mother to six children in Dublin. It is based on the popular theatre show and book series.
Following the “unwatchable” Christmas episode that aired on 25 December, Mrs Brown’s Boys returned for a second special, this time to celebrate New Years on 1 January.
Titled “In Mammy’s Hair Loom”, the story picks up where the Christmas episode left off with suspicion circling around Cathy’s (Jennifer Gibney) creepy boyfriend, Boris.
Unfortunately, viewers were as unhappy with the New Year’s special as they were with the Christmas episode – perhaps even more so considering its timing.
The special followed immediately after the much-anticipated return of Happy Valley.
The critically acclaimed and fan-favourite crime drama series, starring Sarah Lancashire and James Norton, returned for its third season on...

Over the past few years, a new Christmas ritual has entered my life. I find it easily the most irksome of them all, far outstripping cranberry sauce and Whamageddon. I refer, of course, to the duty that falls to me to review Mrs Brown’s Boys, which never fails to disappointment me in its abject poverty of ambition.
But this year, in honour of the recently departed Victor Lewis-Smith, the brilliant satirist and the finest television critic of our times, I thought I’d try to give Mrs Brown’s Boys a bit of a reappraisal. Lewis-Smith, you may recall, was not only a rare blend of the eloquent, the profane and the downright vicious, but an original thinker, and his take on Mrs Brown’s Boys lay far outside the consensus. He praised it because, in his words, every scene in the “unashamedly Rabelaisian comedy ... brimmed over with so much innocent joy...

Brendan O’Carroll has said that it gives him “goosebumps” knowing Mrs Brown’s Boys has become part of many household’s Christmas traditions.
The Irish comedian writes and stars in the hugely divisive BBC comedy as matriarch Agnes Brown.
The show will return this Christmas Day with an episode titled “Shining Mammy”.
Speaking to The Sun, O’Carroll said that it was a joy to know the show had become a Christmas staple.
“I absolutely love it - I get goosebumps that Mrs Brown has become part of Christmas,” he said.
“That’s what people who come to the show say – ‘Ah, it wouldn’t be Christmas without Mrs Brown.’ You’re kinda going, ‘Oh my God, we established that.’”
O’Carroll also shared that the team were hoping to film a four-episode miniseries next year as part of the BBC’s centenary celebrations, as well as two more Christmas specials.

In 2019, Tyler Perry was ready to say goodbye to his iconic character Madea after the release of “A Madea Family Funeral.” But when the Covid-19 pandemic hit the next year, Perry realized that people needed some joy in their lives.
“There is just so much going on in the country right now with all the social and civil unrest and I wanted to do this movie to make people laugh,” Perry told Variety. “We all just need some laughter and I can’t wait for audiences globally to discover Madea for the first time.”
Perry celebrated the premiere of “A Madea Homecoming,” the latest Madea film and the first to premiere on Netflix, at L.A. Live in Los Angeles on Tuesday. Joining him were the cast of the family comedy, including Brendan O’Carroll, Brandon Black, Isha Blaaker, Jennifer Gibney, Candace Maxwell, Amani Atkinson and Geneva Maccarone.

Brendan O'Carroll has denied reports that Mrs Brown's Boys won't return for any more full series.
BBC comedy controller Shane Allen was recently quoted as saying that it would be "hard to get another series" of the hit sitcom.
However, when asked on Alan Carr: Chatty Man if he was ending the show, O'Carroll said: "You must be kidding!
"My son Danny was doing a charity function, and one of the papers called him about the celebrities that were doing it, etc, and during it they said, 'So how's things going with Mrs Brown?' and he said, 'Oh we're finished with Mrs Brown'.
"So they ran with the story that Mrs Brown was over, but what he meant was we've just finished the Christmas specials - and it's 30 phone calls from different people, and it's the BBC s**tting themselves."
O'Carroll quipped: "So no, it's not [ending], I'm going to milk this dry.

A staggering 1.6 million people have applied for tickets to see Strictly Come Dancing live at Elstree Studios this year - which means that Digital Spy was ridiculously excited to be asked along to watch Movie Week unfold right before our eyes on Saturday (October 11).
And while we all saw Frankie Bridge's incredible paso, Donny Osmond's phobia of scores under 5 and Jennifer Gibney hanging up her dancing shoes, here's some things you didn't see on BBC One...
1. Wardrobe issues
Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman looked absolutely spiffing in their garb on both shows. However, comfortable they were not. Before Strictly went live on Saturday, they both walked out to say hello and wish everyone luck. Well, we say walked. Clauds hobbled erratically all over the dancefloor, tugging at her behind at least 10 times and declaring to the whole of the studio that her (several pairs of) Spanx were chaffing up a storm.

The bottom two pairs were calculated from a combination of the judges' scores from last and this week and the viewers' votes.
After Wallace and Gibney had been announced as the bottom two, both performed their routines again in a bid to impress the judges.
Gibney and MacManus's waltz to '(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman', which had received a score of 19 on Saturday's (October 4) show, won out over Wallace and Vilani's Charleston to 'Hey Good Lookin'', which had earned them 18 points.

We're well into the swing of things on Strictly Come Dancing now! Everyone's got the tricky first dance out of the way, but the stakes are very much being raised this weekend, as viewers can now vote to save their favourites.
As it stands, Frankie and Jake are sitting pretty at the top of the leaderboard - but needing to gain a few points are Tim, Judy, Jennifer, Gregg and poor Scott Mills, who has the lowest score of 16. Of course, everything could change this week - but it hinges on the dances and songs. So let's see what we're getting...
Alison Hammond & Aljaz Skorjanec

Dance: Foxtrot
Song: 'I Just Wanna Make Love To You' - Etta James
Caroline Flack & Pasha Kovalev
Current score: 27

Friday night's Strictly opener got off to a dazzling start with the great (Pixie Lott, Jake Wood and Caroline Flack) and the not-so-great (Scott Mills) providing us with excitement, drama and a few laughs.
This evening, the remaining nine celebrities hit the dance floor for the first time with their pro partners. Frankie Bridge, Thom Evans, Simon Webbe and Gregg 'Buttery Biscuit Base' Wallace are among those hoping to impress us with their cha chas, jives and waltzes.
20:27So that's all folks. Time for a breather and a chance to look back at all my dreadful spelling and grammar during the evening. Apologies for that! It's been lovely working on Strictly again. Please let us know who you think was the best in the comments below.

Brendan O'Carroll has revealed that he was approached to take part in the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special as his character Mrs Brown.
The Mrs Brown's Boys creator told Sunday Morning Live that the BBC had suggested that Mrs Brown should dance with head judge Len Goodman, but he turned the offer down.
O'Carroll said: "The idea had been mooted it would be nice in the Christmas special that just one dance with Len and Mrs Brown would be nice. Who would be lead?
"It's nice to have a hybrid and a crossover between Mrs Brown and something else, but the truth of it is Strictly Come Dancing doesn't need me or Mrs Brown.
"It's a great entity in its own right. I have to protect [Mrs. Brown] from Len."

Jennifer Gibney has spoken about the upcoming series of Strictly Come Dancing, saying that she hopes to enjoy the experience as much as possible.
The Mrs Browns Boys star revealed that her aim is "to have a lot of fun and hopefully to learn to dance."
The actress - who is married to Brendan O'Carroll who plays Mrs Brown on the BBC sitcom - confessed that she can be competitive at times, joking: "I have been known to upend the odd Trivial Pursuit board in my time."
She went on to say that she doesn't mind which dancing partner she is paired with, adding: "I think all the dancers are amazing. Absolutely amazing."

The launch of Strictly Come Dancing 2014 is now only a week away and the lineup of celebrities has been revealed in full.
Among the 15 stars are a Radio 1 DJ, three popstars, a former Towie, an EastEnder and a rugby ace. The fake tan is being slapped on and the glittery costumes are being dusted off for another year, but are you excited about this new lineup of twinkled-toed celebs?
The Strictly lineup is never exactly a who's who of Hollywood stars - Chris Hollins won the thing one year, for Christ's sake - but is a bill featuring Mark 'ITV2' Wright and former Big Brother contestant Alison Hammond a step too far down the showbiz ladder for your tastes?
Or are you excited about the prospect of a glittery Latin head-to-head between Frankie Saturday, Pixie Lott and Caroline Flack, and a ballroom battle between Simon Webbe, Thom Evans and Jake Wood?...
