"La, la, la, laaaa, la. La, la, la, laaaa, la."
Great news for the sardonic, sarcastic, and rejected members of the Esteemers, because Mondo is releasing the first-ever, official, on-model figures based on the hit MTV show and cultural institution, "Daria." The adult animated sitcom created by Glenn Eichler and Susie Lewis Lynn was famously a spin-off of Mike Judge's "Beavis and Butt-Head," with Tracy Grandstaff reprising her role as the intelligent, cynical Daria Morgendorffer as she navigates her new high school in Lawndale.
"Daria" was a satirical look at suburban America and the high school experience, with the titular character and best friend Jane Lane's borderline misanthropic criticisms doubling as the vocalized interior thoughts of Gen X and elder millennials as they came of age. While Beavis and Butt-Head were oblivious idiots whose existence provided a commentary on the way the world mistakenly viewed teenagers because they didn't understand them,...

Yellowstone co-creator Taylor Sheridan has already hinted that Kelly Reilly’s polarizing Beth Dutton likely won’t cross over to the in-the-works Paramount+ offshoot of the hit drama that we all expect to star Matthew McConaughey. “My idea of a spinoff is the same as my idea of a prequel,” the EP told our sister site The Hollywood Reporter. “Read into that what you will.”
But even if Sheridan is ready and/or willing to let go of Beth, we’re not. So we’d green-light a new series that goes off to college with the firebrand, played in her teens by Kylie Rogers.

And then there were three. With only a few weeks until a winner is crowned, Friday’s episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 8 treated viewers to a feast of insult comedy, high-art clownery and, most importantly, loose slices of bologna.

This week’s Star Trek: Strange New Worlds asked a provocative question: What would you do if you had the opportunity to go back in time and kill a mass murderer before they grew up to commit such atrocities?
After a gravely wounded stranger appeared aboard the Enterprise, urging La’an to stop an attack before it was too late, the security chief found herself stuck in Toronto in the past, and in an alternate timeline with a version of Captain Kirk who was born in space aboard the U.S.S. Iowa rather than on Earth. (Fun fact: In the 2009 film Star Trek,...

“Beavis and Butt-Head” are back on TV. A revival of the classic ’90s MTV animated series is set to premiere on Paramount+ on Aug. 4, the streamer announced Thursday. In addition, the streamer revealed a first trailer for the series, which can be watched below.
Created and voiced by Mike Judge in 1992 for the MTV animated anthology series “Liquid Television,” Beavis and Butt-Head are two teenage slackers who share an extreme libido and complete inability to attract women. The characters proved popular enough to launch their own spinoff series, which ran for 200 episodes across seven seasons. The show sees the pair embark on various half-baked schemes, as well as mock contemporary music videos that aired on MTV. The series launched another popular spin-off series “Daria,” starring the character voiced by Tracy Grandstaff, and was revived for an extra season on MTV in 2011.

Two of television’s most iconic idiots are back. “Beavis and Butt-Head Do the Universe,” a new animated feature film starring the ’90s MTV characters, is set to premiere on Paramount+ June 23.
The news was announced alongside the release of the official trailer for the film (see below), which sees Beavis and Butt-Head (both voiced by creator Mike Judge), on a space mission with NASA in 1998 (the year after the original series ended) and winding up in the year 2022. As the Nsa and the U.S. government track them down, the two struggle to adjust to modern life, while retaining their childish sense of humor.

MTV Studios’ upcoming “Daria” spinoff “Jodie,” led by “Black-ish” star Tracee Ellis Ross, has landed at sister Viacom network Comedy Central.
Created by “Insecure” alum Grace Edwards, who also serves as head writer, the animated comedy centers on Jodie Landon, Daria’s friend at the fictional Lawndale High. “Jodie” picks up with her character graduating from college and entering a complicated world.
Ross voices the title character and serves as an executive producer on the series, which is produced by MTV Studios.

Here’s Viacom’s description of the series:
What “Daria” did for showing how inane high school was for Gen X, “Jodie” will do for exploring the trials and tribulations of a first job for a new generation. The series will satirize workplace culture, Gen Z struggles, the artifice of social media and more.

This year marks 20 years since the debut of Daria, the MTV series about a bespectacled, combat boot-wearing misfit whose defining trait was, on the surface, a deep disdain for those around her. In the years since viewers were first introduced to Daria Morgendorffer, she's become a heroine of sorts for many who saw (or still see) themselves as outsiders – particularly women – for whom mainstream depictions of non-traditional characters were, at the time, few and far between. (Cher from Clueless and the Spice Girls weren't exactly relatable if you were a weird girl in the 1990s.

Why oh why is this Daria: High School Reunion trailer not a real thing? College Humor has outdone themselves and inspired a case for another Kickstarter fan project. Aubrey Plaza takes on the role of the deadpan Daria from the beloved Glenn Eichler and Susie Lewis Lynn MTV series. The story picks up after our sardonic heroine graduated from Lawndale High and invites us to the school's 10-year reunion. It's great to see the old gang back together and bursting with sarcasm. Plaza is perfection, and we think Daria voice actress Tracy Grandstaff would be proud. Now, if we can just get this thing into production — but with a much hotter Trent Lane, please. Daria's earned it. In 2011, fans on MTV Clutch nominated Plaza for the part of Daria in a live-action...

For the past two years, I've been lucky enough to be a small part of a show called Portlandia. The series -- created by the prolifically talented Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein and returning on Friday for a second season -- has been described by many a stinging satire of Hipster culture. While it does parody Hipster earnestness, the show pays loving tribute to communities Like Portland everywhere -- Silver Lake, Austin, Bolder, Williamsburg, Minneapolis, Northampton, Berkeley, etc, etc, etc -- and much has been made about how the show has puts Hipster Culture in the spotlight.
I must say, however, Hipsters are not a new TV phenomenon. With thick glasses, just-so-avant-garde fashion and knowing smirks, Hipsters have had a special place on TV since the beginning of the medium -- even before the birth of the term. For more than half a century, TV Hipsters have had a profound effect on American culture.

Watch the official San Diego Comic-Con sneak preview of the upcoming MTV series “Beavis and Butt-Head” from Mike Judge and starring Mike Judge, Dale Revo and Tracy Grandstaff. Series Synopsis: Beavis and Butt-head was first aired on the U.S. cable network MTV in March 1993. This show, which combined animation and music videos, was an example of the unique programming that MTV has consistently provided for its youthful demographics. The half-hour program alternated between a simple narrative, which focused on the exploits of two low-life adolescents, and clips from music videos, which the two teens commented on. Creator Mike Judge had penned the aimless duo for a festival of animation...

Throughout its seven seasons, ABC's medical drama Grey's Anatomy has had few light moments-from the traumas in the hospital to the dramas of their romantic lives. When its creator Shonda Rhimes announced plans for a musical episode last November, many were therefore skeptical about how the Broadway tropes would work on the hour-long show. But Rhimes had a formula to make the episode, which aired Thursday night, work-Grey's used songs from Snow Patrol, The Fray, and similar indie bands that were popularized in earlier episodes instead of trying to go the route of the Great White Way.
