During the summer of 1966, when Paul Tripp was in Europe filming "The Christmas That Almost Wasn't", Stu filled in on "Birthday House" for several episodes.
He served in the United States Navy during World War II.
He earned a Bachelor's degree in literature and drama from the University of Buffalo in 1950.
From 1976 to 1984 he drew the comic strip "Inside Woody Allen" with much input from Woody himself. He even drew the cartoon scene in Annie Hall (1977) involving Alvy Singer and Annie-as-Wicked-Queen.
