‘Things Blowing Up Good’ has been surefire entertainment since the beginning of cinema, but this ill-fated Cinerama extravaganza about the biggest explosion in recorded human history limps along despite some pretty darned impressive volcanic effects. It’s quite an entertaining spectacle, with various good performers in three soap opera plots, either overacting or loitering about with nothing to do. And don’t forget the from-left-field musical striptease.

Of all the food groups (?) out there, the one constant that still brings me back to those nostalgic days of my childhood is a tasty bowl of cereal. For me, I went cuckoo for the likes of Frosted Flakes and Lucky Charms (sorry, Cocoa Puffs), and with a recent discovery of Momofuku Milk Bar’s Cereal Milk, this nostalgia is definitely a thing others are sharing in. As horror fans, there’s a certain love we all have for the likes of Frute Brute, Count Chocula and Boo Berry. With a little digging, I’ve uncovered some more bizarre and creepy cereals children once fondly doused with milk and shoved into their innocent little faces... so grab your appetites and take a trip with me down the rabbit hole. I hope you’re hungry! 1. Freakies In 1972, Ralston released Freakies unto the world. These Freakies were a group of seven creatures named Hamhose,...

Matt Bomer’s future on White Collar in question, the rap version of “Achy Breaky Heart” has arrived, the sweetest lube ad ever
Deadline is reporting that the future of White Collar is in question. They feel that eventually a final sixth season or a miniseries to conclude the show will be worked out. The show has just gotten too expensive, and Matt Bomer is almost too busy. While they’ve been working on a deal, they’ve lost their writers and crew to other shows.
If you’re wearing any of this underwear on Valentine’s Day, you’re probably not getting laid.
Cosmo, ever the hard-hitting journalists, has put together a slide show of their favorite Olympic bulges. If I sound bitter, it’s mostly because I didn’t think of it first.

While it's our general policy to not report on Kickstarter projects for various reasons, Kiss the Devil in the Dark, the new and wrapped feature from the creators of the award-winning short An Evening with My Comatose Mother, is just simply too good to pass up.
The flick's in post, needs your help, and we think it's something you absolutely need to see.
Starring Doug Jones (Pan's Labyrinth), Dameon Clarke, and Amrita Acharia, Kiss the Devil in the Dark is co-directed and produced by Jonathan Martin and Rebecca Martin from a script by the latter and revolves around the character of Marcus (Clarke), a powerful sorcerer who, desperate to save his dying wife, makes a deal with the demon Dagon (Jones) to save her soul. Dagon, however, has more in mind for Marcus than just a simple exchanging of souls. With seemingly no other choice, Marcus accepts, thus catapulting him...

I received the following email last week:
Michael,
Thanks so much for responding to me! Action Files seems like a great program for schools. I’ll be sure to look into it more. With the new Common Core Standards, I’ve noticed that there isn’t really any standards related to the content of what needs to be taught in an English course and that it mostly revolves around “can students read and write?”
With that in mind, I created a Donors Choose to teach Grant Morrison’s All-Star Superman to my high school seniors. I was given four months to raise the money and I did it in 13 hours. As long as curriculum revolves around analyzing literature and understanding tone and purpose, the state doesn’t really seem to care what they’re being taught. In a way, that’s great because it opens up content, but in another...

Back in 1997, James Ellroy's novel L.A. Confidential was adapted into a classic crime thriller directed by Chris Hanson, and it starred Kevin Spacey, Russell Crowe, Guy Pearce, and Kim Basinger. The film received 9 Oscar nominations, winning awards for Best Screenplay and Best Supporting actress (Basinger).
We're now going to get to get a sequel to this noir story. It's coming to us in the form of a TV series, and why the hell not? A lot of the TV shows being made these days are better than the movies that are getting made. Plus they get to tell a bigger story. Ellroy has teamed up with New Regency to make the series happen. Ellroy wrote the project on spec. They're currently shopping the series around and pitching it to broadcast and cable networks as well as emerging distribution platforms like Netflix. According to Deadline, multiple outlets are interested.

The Queen of the wicked shit, Razakel, has returned with a brand new full-length album featuring 22 tracks of the sickest horrorcore to ever grace the genre. Easily this is the best produced horrorcore release I have heard to date, showcasing some authentically mind blowing lyrics, proving once and for all who the illest female Mc of them all truly is. “Muerta” officially dropping on July 31st, is by far Razakel’s most solid contribution to the genre, over the years she has mastered her craft to a degree that makes her stand out above other similar artists. Just like every other Skr release this record further innovates the genre, rising the bar multiple notches, creating the new standard for quality horrorcore.

Filmmaker Jonathan Martin, whose short film An Evening With My Comatose Mother has racked up 67 film festival awards and is now slated for a big-budget feature version, gave us a look today at the "Electric Light" music video he directed for the band Muscle Hawk. Check it out!
Written, directed and produced by Martin with cinematography by Derek Pueblo, the filmmaker collaborated with his Comatose co-conspirators Chris Hanson (Makeup Effects) and Alex Johnson (Visual Effects), as he did with editor Jeff Yeats, with whom he co-edited. The pedophilia-fest known as Toddlers & Tiaras has always been guaranteed to put an unsettling feeling in your stomach. The TLC show, which is directly responsible for a recent boom in creepy uncles, showcases young girls and the occasional confused boy like candy as they strut their prepubescent stuff at baby beauty pageants. It's equal parts disgusting display and car crash/exploding fireworks factory/Bigfoot riding a unicorn, making it a spectacle that's nauseating yet oddly compelling to some (not me, Chris Hanson!).
But I'm drawing the line of arguable decency at fake tits. TLC has released the following clip to promote tonight's episode of Toddlers & Tiaras, and gosh darnit, I fell right into its trap.... More >>...

It's either Gordon Ramsay night or Misery Night or, if you're on one of Gordon Ramsay's shows, it's both! There's also some season finales signaling the beginning of the August doldrums of television shows where everything is in reruns or some lame show that the network decided to dump at the end of summer because they knew everyone would be either too hot to care or busily making vacation plans since they just realized it's goddamn August already. However, most of the season finales are for shows that I haven't seen any chatter about here anyway ("Basketball Wives" anyone?) so I hope none of you are adversely affected. Anyway, here's your Monday night TV:
8:00pm: "Bachelor Pad" on ABC. Three hour second season premiere. Wait, second season? I think my brain erased all previous memories of this show because I literally had no clue that it existed before...

A Teaser trailer has been released for the supernatural horror film Blood Fare whose cast includes sci-fi icon Gil Gerard, star of the classic series Buck Rogers.
But Gerard isn't waking up in the glossy space-age future of the 25th century this time. The indie horror flick, from writer/director Ja Steel and co-producer Christian K. Koch, is described as a Civil War ghost story with a modern twist, as you can see from the trailer below.
It centres on Corporal Henry Trout (S. Edward Meek; Wild Stallion), who in 1861 fought valiantly in a forgotten skirmish after the first battle of Bull Run. He comes face to face with his descendants as the battle for blood continues on a haunted battlefield 150 years later.
Tyler and her brother Chad (Adrian West), Henry's fifth generation grandchildren, "will challenge the very legend of Charon the Ferryman, as the lines between the living and the dead become blurred.

[Writer's note: While the main focus of Corona's Coming Attractions has always been to keep its pulse on mainstream and Hollywood movie productions, there exists a thriving, diverse indie film scene further out there; projects that have passionate creators, stars and crew but also face the challenges of not having enough resources or finances to solve all their problems as easily as the big players do. I've been approached by representatives for a lot of indies, asking for a chance to have a little bit of exposure for their hard work. "Indie Coming Attractions" will do just that and let you know about these productions. -- Patrick]
In production by Warrior Entertainment, Blood Fare is described by its creators as a "Civil War ghost story with a twist." It is the story of Corporal Henry Trout, a soldier that fought on the battlefields and died on the field of combat in 1861. In 2011, Trout's spirit will come face-to-face with his descendants five generations removed as the battle of Bull Run resumes upon a haunted battlefield. The lines between the living and the dead will become blurred and it will be upon Trout's great-great-grandchildren, Tyler and Chad, to face the legend of Charon the Ferryman, the infamous gatekeeper that escorts the souls of the dead to what lies beyond.
The Blood Fare production recently made the announcement that they had secured the involvement of Gil Gerard for the role of Professor Meade in their film. Gerard is best known for playing the role of Buck Rogers in the 1979 movie and subsequent network television series.
