Chelsea overcame Real Sociedad with little difficulty in the final game of their pre-season ahead of next Monday’s Premier League opener against Burnley. Two goals in a thrilling first ten minutes were enough to ensure victory, both coming courtesy of new striker, Diego Costa, signed for £32m from Atletico Madrid over the summer.
An amusingly over the top introduction to the Chelsea squad for 2014/15 preceded kick-off, complete with pyrotechnics to warm the players up in the billowing rain. The biggest applause was reserved for returning hero Didier Drogba (out with an injury tonight but expected to return soon) and newcomer Costa, who justified his reception with a neatly taken goal within a minute. A precise through ball into the box from Ramires found the naturalised Spaniard, who tucked the ball into the far corner of the onrushing Enaut Zubikarai’s goal.

An upcoming episode of CBS's CSI will delve into the past of Greg Sanders (Eric Szmanda) and introduce an influential man from his childhood.
"It turns out that as a young boy, Greg was into chess and had a mentor," reveals executive producer Carol Mendelsohn. Filling the mentor role is Emmy nominee Ron Glass, who played Det. Ron Harris on Mendelsohn's favorite '70s comedy, Barney Miller.

As the Capital One cup reaches the third round stage the Premier League big boys now enter the competition and one club hoping not to slip up will be Chelsea who travel to face League One side Swindon Town. Here I will preview the game and look at team news, likely starting line-ups as well as giving my prediction for the outcome of the match.
Chelsea
After beating Liverpool to claim his first piece of silverware as Chelsea manager back in 2005, Jose Mourinho will be hoping for further success in the competition as he takes his side to face Mark Cooper’s Swindon.
Saturday’s 2-0 win over Fulham was a light relief for the club after suffering back to back defeats against both Everton in the league and Fc Basel in the Champions League and was their first win in five.

Selena Gomez, "Stars Dance" (Hollywood Records)
Selena Gomez has gone into a studio and recorded her new album "Stars Dance," which consists of 11 pop songs she didn't pen herself backed by instruments she isn't playing. It might be fun for the causal young summertime listener. But it begs the important question: Why bother?
Artistically, there's very little Selena Gomez here. This is merely the veneer of Selena Gomez, the look and feel of the pop starlet set atop a middling musical effort. There are lightly emotional lyrics that appear to reference her high-profile romance with ex Justin Bieber, but it is surface stuff and less than revealing.
Gomez's lead single and Billboard top 10 hit, the catchy "Come & Get It," is about the best offering here, thanks to Stargate's club-heavy beat. Songwriting and production assists from Ester Dean, The Cataracs, Rock Mafia and Desmond Child add polish, but it would be...

Rilo Kiley, "RKives" (Little Record Company)
Rilo Kiley has been pretty well broken up since 2010, and hasn't released a new album since 2007. That trend of them not being a band continues, poorly, with "RKives," a collection of unreleased tracks and B-sides that should have stayed that way.
Frontwoman Jenny Lewis stamps nearly every effort with her overbearing alt-rock ooze of vocals. Some songs stick in the brain for melodic reasons, like the hook on "It'll Get You There" and the jangly guitar bits on "Runnin' Around."
But there's a reason why much of this was once relegated to the cutting room floor. It's simplistic and standard rock, with little personality to turn the newcomer into a Rilo Kiley fan.
One exception worth salvaging from the B-side purgatory is "Dejalo," a perky little remix featuring the rapper Too Short. Lewis doesn't venture from her comfort zone vocally, but at least she tries,...

-- Grammy-winning electronic music specialist Skrillex brings his ear and oversight to Hollywood for the "Spring Breakers" movie soundtrack, enlisting some top-notch talent to deliver everything from dubstep to beat-heavy bass rap.
Besides several of his own tracks, the Skrillex-composed album features Atlanta-based rappers Gucci Mane and Waka Flocka Flame, the latter providing an interesting though nearly understated delivery on an explicit track about staying focused in the music industry to provide big dollars for his family.
Skrillex uses Ellie Goulding's breathy dance track, "Lights," as the finale on this decent assemblage. It's not the disc's song with the most pulse, but it brings things to a calming close.
All in all, it's a decent soundtrack and a good sampler of what the spring break set is doing.

While everyone was buzzing about big releases from Frank Ocean, Fiona Apple, Mumford & Sons and Taylor Swift, you might have missed some must-listens. Here's what you should know about, and why:
___
Grizzly Bear, "Shields" (Warp)
Yes, iTunes named Grizzly Bear's "Shields" the best album of 2012. Yes, the critics adored it. And yes, it debuted in the Top 10.
But did it earn any Grammy nominations? No. Is it selling well? No. Have you heard it? Probably not.
And that needs to change.
"Shields" is a semimasterpiece that feels both old and new – and in the best ways possible. Anchored by the voices of Edward Droste and Daniel Rossen, this Brooklyn, N.Y.-based foursome has created a disc that is genre-defying and consistent throughout.
The 10 tracks that make up "Shields" are drum-filled and smoky, and half the songs are more than five minutes long. That's a bit unusual, but it's...
