New details about Aaron Carter’s death surfaced on Monday after law enforcement said they found “multiple cans of compressed air” and prescription pill bottles in Carter’s home.
The singer’s body was discovered in the bathroom on Saturday, where law enforcement said the compressed air canisters were found. Compressed air can be used for huffing, a type of substance abuse that involves inhaling fumes, often from household products, to get high.
Police were sent to Carter’s home for a welfare check in September after a concerning Instagram live video made fans and friends think the star was huffing.

Gary Madatyan, a friend of Carter’s said that he suspected Carter was abusing inhalants again, after being in and out of rehab for several months.

In Welcome to Marwen, director Robert Zemeckis uses the real-life story of artist and photographer Mark Hogancamp as a fantastical canvas to interrogate his own career. Reckoning with one’s legacy is a move typical of an auteur operating in their “late period,” but Zemeckis doesn’t take a direct route to the self-critique. Instead, he papers it over a feature-length dramatic portrait of a subject who, like in his film The Walk, was previously the focus of an acclaimed documentary. Stilted and occasionally mawkish, Welcome to Marwen will likely be considered a failure by critics and audiences alike, which is a shame because, while certainly not a success, it represents a fascinating reflection on the double-edged value of escapism.
Hogancamp’s story, first explored in Jeff Malmberg’s 2010 documentary Marwencol, in brief: After being beaten within an inch of his life by five men outside of a bar for...

"Don't just imagine yourself as a hero, be one in real life." Universal has debuted the third official trailer for the new Robert Zemeckis movie, titled Welcome to Marwen, starring Steve Carell as a man who finds solace in WWII miniatures that he photographs. Opening in theaters in just a few more weeks. This is a true story, and many have seen the documentary about Mark Hogancamp already - which is getting a fresh release to coincide with this movie's opening. Carell plays Mark, the victim of a vicious attack who finds a unique and beautiful therapeutic outlet to help him through his recovery process. The film's cast includes Leslie Mann, Diane Kruger, Merritt Wever, Janelle Monáe, Eiza González, Leslie Zemeckis, Gwendolyn Christie, and Neil Jackson. The trailers for this movie haven't been that great, they're just a bit too sentimental and the movie looks so cheesy I'm not really...

One of the few directors who is able to still wrangle a decent-sized budget for Hollywood studio fare that doesn’t involve capes or anything of the ilk, Robert Zemeckis’ formally inventive films are still ones to marvel at. Following his return to live-action with the trio of Flight, The Walk, and Allied, his next project looks is a mix of that realm and a healthy dose of motion capture.
Welcome to Marwen, another remake of a documentary from the director, is based on the 2010 film Marwencol, and after a wild first trailer, a second one has now arrived that shifts tones to an entirely inspirational one, perhaps fitting for its new December holiday release date. The story follows Steve Carell’s character in the true story of a man who was beaten into a coma, leaving memory loss, he then constructs a fantastical World War II-era world of dolls that fight the Nazis,...

Where once it was the centerpiece of mainstream entertainment in the Midwest, nowadays the circus sideshow is gradually returning to the public eye as a subcultural curiosity after years of negative publicity and a rise in television, films and digital media. A major contributing factor of this growing subculture is the desire by some to acknowledge and promote an awareness and understanding of this nearly forgotten and often misunderstood part of our American history.

Anyone who’s interested in vaudeville, burlesque, sideshows, and the fringes of 20th century show business will know of The Hilton Sisters, Violet and Daisy. These attractive “Siamese twins” (as they were called in those days) were headliners on stage, appeared in Tod Browning’s movie Freaks in 1932 and starred in their own exploitation feature Chained for Life twenty years later. But while they’ve long been on my radar, I must confess that I knew virtually nothing about their lives. Leslie Zemeckis, who explored the backstage world of burlesque in her last documentary, Behind the Burly Q, now offers a straightforward and thorough biography of Violet and Daisy. She has diligently...

Sundance Selects will open the new documentary Bound By Flesh, about conjoined twin superstars Daisy and Violet Hilton, theatrically in Los Angeles on June 27 and on VOD. The award-winning film was directed by Leslie Zemeckis (Behind The Burly Q).
American sideshows were in fairs, circuses, and carnivals. There were acts such as glass blowers, musicians, and also the freaks. Most freaks just stood there while the audience wandered past. The Hilton sisters, however, were trained to put on a winning performance. They sang, danced, and played a variety of musical instruments. Once they quit the carnival world and started playing vaudeville houses,...

Just as video killed the radio star, celluloid ruined sideshow freaks. Whether cinema's displacement of vaudeville and carnival attractions at the top of rural America's entertainment heap was a positive development is up for debate in Leslie Zemeckis's sympathetic but unambitious documentary Bound by Flesh, a cradle-to-grave portrait of conjoined twins Daisy and Violet Hilton.
The arc of the other Hilton sisters' rise and fall — from their early heyday as one of the best-paid attractions of the Roaring Twenties to their ignoble last years eking out a living as small-town grocery-store clerks in North Carolina — should be familiar to anyone who's wasted an afternoon watching cable specials about forgotten child stars. While we live in an era where stars can seem to emerge from anything from viral videos to Twitter accounts, this isn't necessarily a recent phenomenon. In the '20s and '30s, crowds flocked to sideshows to see human curiosities, and sometimes those performers became famous themselves. And in the forthcoming documentary "Bound By Flesh," director Leslie Zemeckis examines the sad story of one such duo. From the day they were born, conjoined sisters Daisy and Violet Hilton were groomed for stardom. They were effectively sold by their unmarried mother into the car of another woman, who wasted no time in training the girls for performances, and soon they were touring the world, and even performing as part of Bob Hope's show. But shifty managers, abuse and troubled relationships followed, even as their fame rose, and the sisters' lives came to a tragic end. And this exclusive trailer...

Jon's daughter, Stephanie Bongiovi, had drug possession charges against her dropped on Nov. 15. We hope she's recovering after her overdose. A day after Jon Bon Jovi's daughter Stephanie Bongiovi was arrested on Wednesday, Nov. 14 for drug possession, following an alleged overdose on heroin in her dorm room at Hamilton College in Clinton, NY, she had all charges dropped against her, E! News reports. The Oneida County District Attorney's Office announced on Nov. 15 that it was dropping the charges against Stephanie, 19, and friend Ian Grant, 21, who was at the scene and was allegedly involved in the overdose as well. The D.A. says the charges were dropped because of a New York law, which came into effect in September 2011, that specifically prohibits prosecution of people who experience a drug overdose, as well as the people who help them seek medical care. Stephanie was charged with heroin possession after police reported a small quantity of heroin,...

The show must go on? Former Backstreet Boy Nick Carter has missed his own sister's funeral. The singer gave a concert in Philadelphia and hosted a party at an Atlantic City resort on Saturday night, the same evening that funeral proceedings were held for little sister Leslie Carter.
