- Played with the National Basketball Association's Minneapolis/Los Angeles Lakers, 1957-1963.
- Is the only NBA player to become a play-by-play announcer.
- Played collegiately at West Virginia University along with future Laker teammate Jerry West.
- He was the color commentator for Phoenix Suns broadcasts from 1968 until 1974. He did play-by-play at the end of the 1969-1970 season after the previous announcer, Bill Vache, was killed in an automobile accident.
- Will be doing radio only for the Utah Jazz. Until now, he has been the sole person to do radio/television simulcasts for the New Orleans/Utah Jazz. (July 2005)
