- She was part of the original suggested cast for M-G-M's classic film The Wizard of Oz (1939). She was supposed to have played the Princess of Oz, who sang opera, and would have been contrasted with Judy Garland's Dorothy, who was originally supposed to have sung jazz. Both the idea of Dorothy singing jazz and the Princess of Oz were completely dropped from later versions of the script, as well as the finished film.
