Gotta love that title! Producer Walter Mirisch’s small-scale Monogram noir was once assumed lost, but now it’s making its home video debut on Blu-ray. A luckless young entertainer finds himself neck deep in murder trouble, when an unbreakable string of circumstantial evidence points directly at him. As the date of his execution nears, the only way his desperate wife can help him is to encourage the detective on the case to think he has a chance with her. Taken from a Cornell Woolrich story, the show tries hard despite its low budget — we can almost feel Mirisch behind the scenes, making sure the picture has heart and sincerity.

No, this isn't an American Pie movie plot. Actor Eddie Kay Thomas called police Wednesday, April 17 after a woman allegedly threatened him with a knife and barricaded herself in his L.A. home after an alleged one-night stand. Authorities confirmed to The Los Angeles Times that the Lapd's Swat team were called to the 32-year-old actor's home shortly after 1 p.m. After spending the night at Thomas' home, the woman was asked to leave the next morning, but refused, according to authorities. Starting in 1999, when four friends (Jim, Kevin, Finch and Oz) decide to do all they can to lose their virginity by the time they graduate high school, then moving forward a year for a sequel built around them meeting up after a year at college and spending the summer at a lake/beach house, before wrapping up the trilogy with the build-up to and events at Jim’s marriage to Michelle, the American Pie films very much focus on Jim (Jason Biggs)’s sexual misadventures, but with the gross-out elements undercut by an overall sweetness and at the series’ best moments, a welcome and necessary lightness of touch.
Since the franchise kicked off, plenty of other films have entered this sort of arena and with mixed success. After the first three theatrical releases, the franchise drifted into straight-to-dvd / spin-off territory, with terrifyingly bad results. With the gang back for (presumably...

Ahead of the UK release of American Pie: Reunion, we were lucky enough to meet up with returning stars Eddie Kaye Thomas and Chris Klein for a chat about its making...
It’s 13 years since the first American Pie introduced the painfully funny life problems of charaters such as Jim Levenstein and his friends Oz, Stifler and Finch. And although those characters - played by Jason Biggs, Chris Klein and Eddie Kaye Thomas respectively - have grown older by this year’s American Pie: Reunion, they’re certainly no wiser.
The passing years have done little to dampen audience enthusiasm for the American Pie series, either, with Reunion already earning a healthy $128 million and counting at the box-office to date - and the movie hasn’t even opened in all territories yet.

In this series, Team Experience is looking at Oscar nominated or Oscar winning contributions from or related to the horror genre. In this episode, Robert Gannon -- who dreamt up this whole series for us! -- looks at a true oddity in Oscar history.
Here Lies...The original score of King of the Zombies (1941). There are a few interesting things to note about the Oscar nomination for a brief horror film (67 minutes!) that has not aged well. The least of which is that, music aside, it's not a particularly great or memorable film.
The year is 1942. Music is still a respected category at the Academy Awards. In an odd twist, 20 films are nominated for Best Music, Scoring of a Dramatic Picture. Only at the 1945 ceremony were more films nominated in the category. At this point in Oscar history, there was no limit on the number of nominees. The nominated films simply met a quality threshold.

Broadway’s biggest news this week was sad stuff: Tony-winner Billy Elliot will shut its doors on Jan. 8 after 1,304 performances. Yet there were some things to be happy about. Rumors that Newsies could be headed to Broadway gained some ground when producers confirmed that they had been approached by several NYC theater owners wanting to host the show. Ghost the Musical announced its U.S. debut date: April 23, 2012. Jesus Christ Superstar is returning to Broadway in March. Alicia Keys will be writing original music for December’s Stick Fly. And Alan Rickman gave EW.com readers a little taste of...

THR are reporting that actors Jason Biggs, Sean William Scott and Eugene Levy have all signed up to appear in the Fourth American Pie movie, which is tentatively titled American Pie: Reunion.
Now you may be wondering why fourth? Surely this is the Eighth movie? Well it seems Universal, despite raking in plenty of money with the loosely connected straight to DVD sequels in which Levy appeared, have decide the the “Presents” tag on Band Camp, Naked Mile, Beta House and the recent Book of Love is enough to differentiate those films from the “core franchise”.
It’s also reported that Universal is currently negotiating with Thomas Ian Nicholas, Tara Reid, Chris Klein, Mena Suvari and Jennifer Coolidge to appear in the film which will apparently see the gang come together at their high school reunion. There’s no word on appearances from Eddie Kay Thomas, Shannon Elizabeth, Natasha Lyonne and Alyson Hannigan however,...

Just when you thought you'd seen the last of the gang from American Pie, Universal is baking another [1]. They've officially locked deals with three of the stars of the original films, Jason Biggs, Seann William Scott and Eugene Levy, to appear in American Reunion, according to The Hollywood Reporter. They're also negotiating with Thomas Ian Nicholas, Tara Reid, Chris Klein, Mena Suvari and Jennifer Coolidge to reprise their roles as well. American Reunion, which would officially be the fourth American Pie movie with the original cast, but eighth (!) in a lucrative direct-to-video franchise, would surely see the gang come home to Michigan for their high school reunion. Last year, Harold and Kumar screenwriters Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg were rumored to be writing a script [2] but there's no word if they're still involved. More after the jump. The Hollywood Reporter [3] story doesn't get into much more detail after that, and...

It's been 11 years since the original American Pie warmed our collective schlongs with gooey apple-ness, and that original $200 million movie would result in the proliferation of R-Rated comedies, even before Judd Apatow came along. It also resulted in two theatrical sequels, and about 4,000 straight-to-dvd titles, which have only one thing in common with the original American Pie movie: Eugene Levy, who finds time to appear in every goddamn one of the straight-to-dvd sequels.
We announced back in 2008 that producers were developing an American Pie 4 for theaters, and nearly two years later, and they've finally found a couple of writers to take on the task: Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle writers Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg. Word is that at least some of the original cast would be willing to come back, and since only Alyson Hannigan and Seann William Scott have much going on with their careers at the moment,...

Sir Michael Caine's son-in-law has been targetted in lawsuit by a disgruntled former pal who has accused the businessman of failing to pay him a cut of a big-money property deal.
Michael Hall, the husband of Caine's daughter Natasha, is being sued by Edward Kay, an ex business associate, who alleges he is owed money for introducing Hall to rich investors.
The investors helped finance a luxury gated-community which Hall's company, Obsidian, built in Uruguay.
Kay claims the pair's friendship soured in 2006, but Hall promised he would still be paid a share of the profits for bringing in the investors - agreeing a pay-off of $613,500 (£409,000).
But Kay insists Hall has only paid him $396,000 (£264,000) - and is suing for the remaining amount of $280,500 (£187,000).
Hall married Natasha, Caine's only child with wife Shakira, in 2007.
