Boone, a fame-seeking reality show Bounty Hunter (think a douchier version of TV’s Dog the Bounty Hunter) gets carried away in his role and tries to bring down a drug lord and his empire. But when his quest for accolades ends with a bounty on his own head, Boone learns that serving justice is a heck of a lot more dangerous than just ratings.
Apparently conceived by star John Hennigan some five years ago, Boone: The Bounty Hunter has been a labour of love for the wrestler and actor ever since, with Hennigan eventually funding the film himself – no doubt through the money he earned wresting for the likes of Lucha Underground...

A young Colorado native had her first screenplay made into a full-length feature film released last week, and she did it with a crew full of women and before she had even graduated from college.
Tara Stone, 27, grew up in Monument, Colo. and was attending the University of Denver for a music performance degree when she decided it was time to start over, move to San Diego and pursue screenwriting.
"Everyone says San Diego is paradise. It's not true," said Stone, adding that she's glad to be spending some vacation time at home. "Colorado is paradise."
Her screenplay, "Red Line," recently screened at the San Diego Film Festival and won the U-t Award. It's also been selected for international distribution and is currently available to buy stateside on iTunes and Amazon.com, and will be available this fall at Walmart, Target and Netflix.

Title: Snowmen Directed by: Robert Kirbyson Starring: Bobby Coleman, Josh Flitter, Bobb’e J. Thompson, Doug E. Doug, Christopher Lloyd, and Ray Liotta Running time: 86 minutes, PG Three friends in a small town plan to break the Guinness World Record by building the most snowmen in a single day in order to be remembered forever. This is one of those DVD’s where you can’t look at the cover first, because it will give you the wrong impression. While this is a cute family movie, it’s got a darkness about it. The lead character Billy Kirkfield (Bobby Coleman) is in remission from cancer. He and his two friends Howard (Bobb’e J....

Snowmen Review
Snowmen is loosely based on writer-director Robert Kirbyson's childhood in Canada and where he faced among other things, a parent dealing with leukaemia. However, thanks to a little creative licensing, we have the story of Billy (Bobby Coleman), a small town tween loving wintertime and playing in the snow with his pal Lucas (Christian Martyn).

Another first time writer-director releases his film this weekend, and we are two for two in recommending their films. Sean Durkin scored with our Martha Marcy May Marlene review and now Robert Kirbyson has done it with Snowmen.
Where Martha Marcy May Marlene is dark in its tale of a young person lost, Snowmen is uplifting in its ability to bring light to a dark subject matter. Billy is 10 years old and has recently fought back cancer that he thinks will still kill him. Determined to make his mark on the world before his time expires, he sets out to break the world record for number of snowmen built during a 24-hour period.
Kirbyson tells his tale in the most unconventional of ways and it adds up to something original and honest.
His lead is played by Bobby Coleman, who emits a power much older than his age. He may be bald from chemo,...

New York -- The ninth annual Tribeca Film Festival, which concluded Sunday, attracted some 410,000 visitors, the second-highest attendance figure in its eight-year history.
The number includes an estimated 300,000 attendees at the free Tribeca Family Festival Street Fair and Tribeca/Espn Sports Day held May 1. Around 94,000 people attended the 496 in-theater screenings and events, dropping from a high of 203,000 in 2006 as screenings have slowly been pared back from more than 800 that year.
But one Tribeca figure that hasn't yet been revealed could have the biggest implications for audiences, sales and distribution at other festivals: the number of $45 Premium passes sold for the inaugural Tribeca Film Festival Virtual. The weeklong online program, overseen by fest executive director Nancy Schafer and recently appointed Tribeca Enterprises chief creative officer Geoff Gilmore, streamed eight world and North American premiere features from the fest's lineup, plus shorts, panels and other video content.

Kudos to Paste, which hipped me to this very funny video starring Tony Hale from Arrested Development and the upcoming The Informant! To some of you, the web series Ctrl may not be news, but I had never heard of it, perhaps because I can't find another compelling reason to head over to NBC.com, especially during the summer hiatus.
But this office comedy about a guy with a literal keyboard has run ten episodes exclusively online, and apparently, that's the first time a network has commissioned original programming just for the website, meaning these aren't supporting the TV show the way The Office minisodes do.
Director Robert Kirbyson had developed what was then called Ctrl Z as a short film, which NBC picked up, and the rest is pretty easy to piece together. Now, about that literal keyboard: If Tony Hale presses Ctrl-B then he gets bolder. Ctrl-Z is a complete do-over.

NBC launched the first three episodes of their new web series Ctrl today on NBC.com and Hulu.com. Ctrl is based on the 2008 Sundance award winning short film "Ctrl-z" and will feature a total first season of ten episodes written and directed by Canadian film maker Rob Kirbyson.
Ctrl is a comedy that stars Tony Hale (from Arrested Development) as Stuart, a mistreated office worker who spills a bottle of Nestea (two guesses who their #1 sponsor is) on his computer keyboard transforming it into a magical device capable of manipulating the laws of space and time with the click of a button. Some of Stuart's new-found abilities include the power to rewind time, move objects, become invisible, and clone himself. Better yet, his reality manipulating keyboard may finally allow him to stand up for himself to his idiot boss, Ben Piller (Steve Howey from Reba fame). But will it...
