In 1976, Lee quit her day job to become a full-time freelance writer.
Sold her first novel, 'The Dragon Hoard', at the age of nineteen.
Submitted story ideas to
Doctor Who (1963)
but they were rejected.
She wrote more than 90 novels and 300 short stories, making her one of the most prolific horror and fantasy writers of her generation.
Her parents, Bernard and Hylda Lee, were ballroom dancers.
