Netflix’s Who Is Erin Carter? has cemented Evin Ahmad’s place in the international entertainment arena. She plays the lead, a British teacher in Barcelona, Spain, caught up in a robbery that threatens her new life, dragging her back to her past. Ahmad’s portrayal of Erin Carter in the British thriller series created by Jack Lothian might have exposed her to a vaster, global audience, but she has been around since the 2000s. She first gained mainstream recognition in Swedish cinema with roles in films that explored themes ranging from family violence to the plight of immigrants in Sweden. Before Who Is Erin...

In its first four days of availability, Netflix’s “One Piece” live-action adaptation of the Japanese manga quickly sailed to the top of Netflix’s top 10 chart with 18.5 million total views. During the Aug. 28-Sept. 3 viewing window, the series reached the Top 10 in 93 countries, and debuted at No. 1 in 46 with 140.1 million hours viewed. While it’s not an exact comparison (Netflix only calculated viewing hours at the time), “Cowboy Bebop” — Netflix’s 2021 live-action adaptation based on the anime series of the same name, which was canceled after one season — opened at No. 9 on 15.26 million hours viewed in its first four days of availability.
The series’ big opening pushed “Who is Erin Carter?,” which previously opened at No.1 on the chart last week, down to second place with 15.8 million views. Created by Jack Lothian, the thriller opened on Aug. 24 and follows British expat Erin Carter (Evin Ahmad) who, after relocating to Barcelona,...

Strike Back‘s second — and final? — series finale airs tonight on Cinemax (10/9c). And with the idea that you can’t visit that many countries, train for that many fight scenes and blow that many buildings to smithereens without learning a thing or two… we thought we’d quiz the cast and showrunner about what they learned while shooting the action drama.
For the uninitiated, Strike Back follows Section 20, an elite group of special-forces operatives who engage in death-defying missions all over the globe. The original series ran from 2010–2015; the reboot, helmed by showrunner Jack Lothian, got underway in 2017.

That evening, Cinemax announced Tuesday, the action-filled drama will kick off Season 7 — its final run of episodes. If this sounds familiar, that’s because the current series is a revamp of the original Strike Back, which originally ended in 2015 but was revived (in a manner of speaking) the following year.

Cinemax has renewed long-running action-packed drama Strike Back for a seventh and final season.
Strike Back has just received orders for its final mission.
While the currently-running sixth season of Strike Back only just launched on January 25, Cinemax wasted little time issuing a preemptive renewal for a seventh season of the firearms-and-espionage action thriller. However, the swift greenlight comes with the caveat that Season 7 will mark the end of the series.
The series, which follows the intense exploits of a deadly, internationally-operating government-disavowed British special ops team, called Section 20, has seen its gun-toting team save the world from terrorist cells and even nuclear global catastrophe. However, the team is set to tackle one last global threat before riding off into the proverbial Cinemax sunset.
As Kary Antholis, president, HBO Miniseries and Cinemax Programming, states of the move:

Cinemax has renewed “Strike Back” for a seventh and final season. The renewal news comes ahead of the Season 6 finale, which airs on March 29.
Though the next season will be Cinemax’s seventh, it will be co-producer Sky’s eighth — Cinemax began running the series with the UK media giant’s second season. In 2013, Cinemax aired Sky’s first season as a prequel of sorts, aptly titled “Strike Back: Origins.”
“Strike Back” follows the explosive escapades of Section 20, an elite, multinational, covert special ops team, as it spans the globe fighting a vast web of interconnected criminal and terrorist activity. Season 6 stars Warren Brown, Daniel MacPherson, Alin Sumarwata, Jamie Bamber, Yasemin Kay Allen and Varada Sethu.

Cinemax has confirmed the fate of high-octane drama, Strike Back, and the news is good and bad.
The cabler has renewed the drama series for a seventh and final season, slated to air in 2020.
Strike Back Season 6 is currently airing, so this is an early renewal for one last drama-filled season.
As Cinemax's first drama series, it makes sense that the cabler would want it to conclude on the right terms.

There's no word yet on whether the show could return again down the line, but given that it once ended in 2015 before being revived over a year later, we shouldn't rule it out.
Strike Back has never been a heavy hitter in the ratings with the current season averaging 0.1 million viewers and a 0.02 rating in the demo.

The espionage exploits of Section 20 will, indeed, continue with Cinemax’s order for Strike Back Season 6.
Strike Back Season 6 is coming soon to Cinemax.
The niche-audience nature of the series continues to mirror the clandestine nature of the premise, which depicts British Intelligence secret multinational special ops team Section 20, a deadly-effective, but unacknowledged force. The long-running series, which can name plenty of prominent cast alumni, came back for Season 5 in October 2017 with a soft reboot of sorts, affixed with the subtitle, Retribution, brandishing fresh new cast members and a new mission. Fortunately for the fans, Cinemax gave the order for Strike Back Season 6 in March 2018, even before the Season 5 finale arrived.

Show runner Ryan Murphy revealed at Comic Con this weekend that many of the people who played good guys last years are set to be villains in the upcoming fifth season. These include Kathy Bates (as Iris), Angela Bassett (Ramona), Sarah Paulson (Hypodermic Sally), Evan Peters (Mr. March) and Matt Bomer (Donovan).
Murphy says: "Actually everybody on this side of the table are bad boys and girls this year. The fun thing about the show is I always want to write the opposite of the season before." He also says Lady Gaga's character will be a baddie, and there will be zero musical numbers this season. [Source: The Live Feed]

Let’s be honest- Doctor Who is in a rut. I cannot believe that Steven Moffat, as recently commented, planned everything from the beginning – that he intended everything that happened in Series 5 and 6 to be a direct consequence of what happened in Time of The Doctor.
The show is convoluted, and though even more popular than ever before, it’s nowhere near as engaging as it used to be. As wonderful as Matt Smith’s performance was- truly one of the great Doctors- the writing has under-performed him from the start.
Steven Moffat is one of modern television’s great writers, the man behind such classics as Jekyll, Sherlock, Blink and The Empty Child. The man is a genius- have you seen His Last Vow yet? Simply incredible! So what’s happened to the show he adores under his reign as showrunner?
There’s been many an argument asking this...

"New job, first day, slightly nervous…"
Yesterday (January 6) marked the start of filming on Doctor Who's eighth series since its comeback in 2005, with fans getting their first on-set glimpse of new lead Peter Capaldi earlier today.
Capaldi's casting is, Who showrunner Steven Moffat tells us, "a big declaration of intent" for the long-running sci-fi series - a "statement of [its] importance" - but how much do we actually know about the new Doctor and his upcoming adventures?
Both Moffat and Capaldi's co-star Jenna Coleman agree that the 55-year-old actor will be "so different" to his 31-year-old predecessor Matt Smith, with the show's head writer promising an "old beast" with a "snarl".
"We've got used to two brilliant iterations of the younger, more puppy-dog Doctor and [David Tennant and Matt] have both been superlative," Moffat said in November. "But now it's time for the old beast to snarl at you for a bit!

Here's what we know (or think we know) so far about next year's series of Doctor Who...
We're leap-frogging Christmas Special, The Time Of The Doctor, somewhat to round up what we know so far about the forthcoming new series of Doctor Who.
It's news to no-one who hasn't kept their head in a bucket of fish fingers and custard for the last six months that Peter Capaldi will be taking over from Matt Smith in The Time Of The Doctor. Filming with Capaldi in the Tardis, as far as we know, is still due to start in January 2014 with Jenna Coleman back as companion Clara, and return appearances from the Paternoster Gang of Madame Vastra, Jenny and Strax. Alex Kingston has also teased a potential return for River Song, announcing on a BBC America video "I look forward to sharing more of [River] with you in future,...

As Christmas and The Fall Of The Eleventh draw closer, the attention on Doctor Who begins to shift to Series 8 and Peter Capaldi’s full introduction as the Doctor. Shooting is scheduled to commence in January 2014, meaning that, currently, the focus is on pre-production as the new series’ writers and scripts start to come together.
Neil Cross (writer of Series 7′s The Rings Of Akhaten and Hide) has confirmed that he will be returning to script an episode of Series 8, commenting on Peter Capaldi that “There’s something about his physicality, his image, his wit, that evokes the Doctor” and “There’s something about him that evokes classic Doctor Who.” How many episodes Cross will be writing and the outline of that episode(s) remains to be seen.
Elsewhere, fantasy author Neil Gaiman has confirmed that he will write a third episode of Doctor Who at some point, but...

Neil Gaiman will return to write another Doctor Who episode, though he may not make it in time for series 8...
2013 has been a bumper year so far for Neil Gaiman fans, with a new novel, The Ocean At The End Of The Lane, picture book, Chu's Day, children's book, Fortunately, The Milk, BBC radio adaptation of Neverwhere, and earlier this year, Doctor Who episode Nightmare In Silver. Add to that continued talk of in-development Sandman and American Gods adaptations, and it seems our Gaiman cups runneth over. (Gaiman cups are recognisable by their black colour, twisted handle, and ability to exist in both your dishwasher and a parallel dream realm).
Promoting all of the above has taken time. So much time that whether or not Gaiman will be able to squeeze in a Doctor Who episode for series eight is under question. Speaking to Doctor Who Online,...

There's not too much known about Doctor Who series 8 yet, but here's what we've got...
The immediate focus for Doctor Who, as you might expect, is on the forthcoming 50th anniversary special episode in November, and the Christmas special. The latter will bring us the regeneration from Matt Smith into Peter Capaldi, and there's been no shortage of speculation as to how much of the episode will be devoted to each Doctor. The usual drill is for the new Doctor to appear at the end, but the hairless nature of Matt Smith - courtesy of his work on Ryan Gosling's next movie - will require either a bloody good wig, or perhaps an earlier exit. A wig remains the more likely option, though.
Anyway: a few bits and bobs have started to trickle in with regards season 8 of the show. Earlier rumours had...
