- On 18 March 2022 the Ukrainian Film Academy excluded Sergey Loznitsa from its membership. The director called it the act of "Nazism". The Ukrainian Film Academy appealed "to the world community not to position Sergey Loznitsa as a representative of the Ukrainian cultural sphere".

- In June, 2022, the Berlin Academy of Arts (Akademie der Kunste), one of the oldest Art academies in the world, invited Sergei Loznitsa to become its member. The leadership of the Academy, expressed full solidarity with Sergei Loznitsa's stand against Russian aggression in Ukraine and his appeal to defend the freedom of artistic expression and the rights of artists.
