Anna Manahan was born on October 18, 1924 in County Waterford, Irish Free State [now Ireland]. She was an actress, known for Clash of the Titans (1981), All Dogs Go to Heaven (1989) and Ulysses (1967). She was married to Colm O'Kelly. She died on March 8, 2009 in Waterford, County Waterford, Ireland.
She married Colm O'Kelly, a stage manager and actor. Not long afterward, the company went to Egypt on tour. O'Kelly went swimming in the Nile, contracted polio, and died. They had been married less than a year. Manahan never remarried.
Successfully treated for a heart ailment in New York.
Won Broadway's 1998 Tony Award as Best Actress (Featured Role - Play)
for "The Beauty Queen on Leenane." Her previous, and only other Tony
nomination was 29 years earlier, in 1969, in the equivalent category of
Best Supporting or Featured Actress (Dramatic) for Brian Friel's
"Lovers."
