Today AwesomenessTV premiered Runaways, the teen and tween-oriented YouTube channel’s first original scripted web series. It’s a seven-episode “whodunnit” murder mystery with a healthy dose of high school romance and teenage angst, played out by a ridiculously good looking cast. No surprise, the team behind Runaways has a heck of a Hollywood pedigree with just that subject matter and those kind of subjects. The series’ executive producers Brian Robbins, Joe Davola, Clark Mathis and Beth Szymkowski-Mathis are behind the traditional television hits with ridiculously good looking casts and portrayals of high school romance and teenage angst Smallville and One Tree Hill. In episode one of Runaways, we find out trust fund baby Kaylee (Karalynn Dunton) and her Danbury Prep resident bad boy of a boyfriend “from a nothing family...with a pony in his pants” Mason (Grant Harvey), have gone missing. The police head to the stereotypically stuffy...

A homeless teenager is found dead with most of his blood missing. Other street kids have also disappeared and Nick suspects they’ve fallen prey to one of the Grimm world’s least attractive inhabitants: the Geiers.
Grimm Review, Season 1, Episode 12: “Organ Grinder”
Written by Akela Cooper and Spiro Skentzos
Directed by Clark Mathis
Airs Fridays at 9pm (Et) on NBC
Grimm works best for me when it steers clear of whimsy (I can get enough of it to rot my teeth from Once Upon A Time) and concentrates on the dark side of fairy stories. If we imagine whimsy as a tank full of custard and Jello, then in the last episode, Grimm didn’t dip a toe into the mixture- it fell in head first to emerge, fifty minutes later, slimy and dripping.
A message to the writers: never ever base another episode on a mouse with psychological problems.

Grimm Season 1 Episode 6, “The Three Bad Wolves”
Written by Naran Shankar and Sarah Goldfinger
Directed by Clark Mathis
Airs Fridays 9pm on NBC
After “Danse Macabre” being something of a disappointment, it’s nice to see Grimm back on form with this episode devoted to a retelling of The Three Little Pigs. This time around, the pigs have decided that the wolves richly deserve some payback. As the building safety experts of the Grimm world, all a vengeful Bauerschwein has to do is sabotage a gas pipe and…kaboom!…he can blow a Blutbad’s house down, whatever that sucker happens to be built from. The Blutbad in question, Hap, needs...
