When he was six, his father changed the family name from Cohen to Maxin.
He had his own orchestra in the 1950s and 1960s, and recorded easy-listening albums.
He started out as a dancer at the famous Windmill theatre in Soho. After WWII, he toured in the musical The Love Racket. Then he got into TV production, for ITV and the BBC.
