When a ghost story should depend more on the horrors discovered within each person’s own past, Tied in Blood makes for a good read than a watch. This film makes full use of what a ghost means in prose. Paul McEwan has admitted that he would be torn over starring in another soap because he feels loyalty towards Emmerdale. The actor, who played policeman Shane Doyle until he was murdered in 2008, revealed that he loved his time on the ITV1 soap, especially because he is originally from Yorkshire. According to Pa, when asked if he would appear in a rival soap, he said: "I am kind of torn. You never say no because they are such fantastic jobs but I have such love and loyalty for Emmerdale. When I left, we were joking that I would grow a moustache and come back as Shane's brother. (more)...

Emmerdale's leading producer Gavin Blyth has admitted that he regrets the departures of Jenna-Louise Coleman and Sally Oliver. Coleman bowed out from her role as Jasmine Thomas on the ITV1 soap earlier this year and has since secured a role as troubled schoolgirl Lindsey James on Waterloo Road. Jasmine's exit saw her sent to jail after admitting responsibility for the death of boyfriend Shane Doyle (Paul McEwan). Meanwhile, Oliver's final scenes as Lexi King were broadcast in August. Lexi was seen deciding to leave the village after her relationship with husband Carl (Tom Lister) broke down in a real-time special. Both actresses had already chosen to quit the Yorkshire-based programme when Blyth was named as its new series producer in January. Reflecting on their exits, Blyth told Digital Spy: "It was beyond my control - because I (more)...

Revealing the reasoning behind her lack of research, Coleman told The Mirror: "I didn't want any preconceived ideas of how I was going to play it. But I watched loads of murder movies like Shallow Grave and Monster, which helped me realise how easy it is for things to get out of control when you're backed into a (more)...

Emmerdale actor Paul McEwan has confessed that he was so worried about a harrowing rape storyline he filmed for the soap that he warned his mother about it. The star wanted to make sure his mum had prior knowledge that the scene, in which his character PC Shane Doyle tries to attack Jasmine Thomas, was going to take place. "When I read what my character was going to get up to, the first thing I did was call my mum to warn her," he told The People. "I knew she'd (more)...

Paul McEwan has revealed that Emmerdale fans will soon see another side to villainous copper Shane Doyle. Doyle has been causing trouble for colleague Donna Windsor-Dingle since his arrival on the soap earlier this year, but McEwan said there is more to the character than meets the eye. "I think what's great about what's coming up is, because of the quality of the writing, the viewers are going to see a lot more sides to Shane before it really gets dark," he said. "There's (more)...
